    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.68, No.1, pp. 1183-1202, 2021, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2021.015514 - 22 March 2021

Abstract Determining the optimum location of facilities is critical in many fields, particularly in healthcare. This study proposes the application of a suitable location model for field hospitals during the novel coronavirus 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic. The used model is the most appropriate among the three most common location models utilized to solve healthcare problems (the set covering model, the maximal covering model, and the P-median model). The proposed nonlinear binary constrained model is a slight modification of the maximal covering model with a set of nonlinear constraints. The model is used to determine the optimum location More >

Managing Delivery of Safeguarding Substances as a Mitigation Against Outbreaks of Pandemics

Said Ali Hassan1, Khalid Alnowibet2,3, Prachi Agrawal4, Ali Wagdy Mohamed5,6,*

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.68, No.1, pp. 1161-1181, 2021, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2021.015494 - 22 March 2021

Abstract The optimum delivery of safeguarding substances is a major part of supply chain management and a crucial issue in the mitigation against the outbreak of pandemics. A problem arises for a decision maker who wants to optimally choose a subset of candidate consumers to maximize the distributed quantities of the needed safeguarding substances within a specific time period. A nonlinear binary mathematical programming model for the problem is formulated. The decision variables are binary ones that represent whether to choose a specific consumer, and design constraints are formulated to keep track of the chosen route.… More >

    ZHAOHUI HU1,2, XIANGJUN DING3, YUYAO JI2, XIAOHONG LIU4,*, ZHIWEN DING2,*

    BIOCELL, Vol.45, No.3, pp. 745-749, 2021, DOI:10.32604/biocell.2021.013293 - 03 March 2021

Abstract Apurine/pyrimidine-free endonuclease 1 (APEX1) is a multifunctional enzyme that contributes to oxidizationmediated DNA-cleaved base excision repair and redox activation of transcription factors. However, the role of APEX1 during cardiomyocyte oxidative stress injury is not completely understood. In the present study, whether APEX1 protects oxidative damage-induced cardiomyocytes was investigated. mRNA and protein expression levels of APEX1 were downregulated in the mouse model of cardiac ischemia-reperfusion injury. Furthermore, the expression of APEX1 in hydrogen peroxide (H2O2)-treated neonatal mice cardiomyocytes was also decreased. APEX1 knockdown aggravated H2O2-treated cardiomyocyte apoptosis indexes. By contrast, APEX1 overexpression reversed H2O2-induced oxidative damage, as demonstrated More >

Control Strategy for a Quadrotor Based on a Memetic Shuffled Frog Leaping Algorithm

    Nour Ben Ammar1, Hegazy Rezk2,3,*, Soufiene Bouallègue1,4

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.67, No.3, pp. 4081-4100, 2021, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2021.015681 - 01 March 2021

Abstract This work presents a memetic Shuffled Frog Leaping Algorithm (SFLA) based tuning approach of an Integral Sliding Mode Controller (ISMC) for a quadrotor type of Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAV). Based on the Newton–Euler formalism, a nonlinear dynamic model of the studied quadrotor is firstly established for control design purposes. Since the main parameters of the ISMC design are the gains of the sliding surfaces and signum functions of the switching control law, which are usually selected by repetitive and time-consuming trials-errors based procedures, a constrained optimization problem is formulated for the systematically tuning of these… More >

    BIOCELL, Vol.45, No.2, pp. 307-316, 2021, DOI:10.32604/biocell.2021.014305 - 19 February 2021

Abstract Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease is the most common cause of hepatic dysfunction. In the present study, human normal hepatocyte L02 cells were treated with 50% fetal bovine serum to induce the formation of hepatic steatosis in vitro, and then the cells were treated with docosahexaenoic acid to investigate its protective effect on Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease. Our results showed that 50% of fetal bovine serum significantly induced intracellular lipid accumulation and hepatocyte fatty degeneration within 48 h. The expression level of adipose formation-related genes was significantly up-regulated, such as PPARγ, C/EBPα and SREBP-1; meanwhile, the content… More >

    Kaisarul Islam1, Tabia Hossain1, Mohammad Monirujjaman Khan1,*, Mehedi Masud2, Roobaea Alroobaea2

    Computer Systems Science and Engineering, Vol.37, No.1, pp. 19-32, 2021, DOI:10.32604/csse.2021.015528 - 05 February 2021

Abstract In this paper performance of three different designs of a 60 GHz high gain antenna for body-centric communication has been evaluated. The basic structure of the antenna is a slotted patch consisting of a rectangular ring radiator with passive radiators inside. The variation of the design was done by changing the shape of these passive radiators. For free space performance, two types of excitations were used—waveguide port and a coaxial probe. The coaxial probe significantly improved both the bandwidth and radiation efficiency. The center frequency of all the designs was close to 60 GHz with… More >

    G. Indira Kishore1, M. Premkumar1,*, Ramesh Kumar Tripathi2, Chandra Sekhar Nalamati2

    Energy Engineering, Vol.118, No.2, pp. 199-209, 2021, DOI:10.32604/EE.2021.014079 - 23 December 2020

Abstract Renewable energy with sources such as photovoltaic (PV) or fuel cells can be utilized for the generation of electrical power. But these sources generate fewer voltage values and therefore require high gain converters to match with DC bus voltage in microgrids. These high gain converters can be implemented with switched capacitors to meet the required DC bus voltage. Switched capacitors operate in a series and parallel combination during switching operation and produce high static gain, limits reverse voltage that appears across the components. A novel converter is proposed that satisfies all the features such as More >

    Ganeshan Keerthana1,*, Panneerselvam Anandan2, Nandhagopal Nachimuthu3

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.66, No.1, pp. 903-917, 2021, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2020.012255 - 30 October 2020

Abstract Due to the recent proliferation of cyber-attacks, highly robust wireless sensor networks (WSN) become a critical issue as they survive node failures. Scale-free WSN is essential because they endure random attacks effectively. But they are susceptible to malicious attacks, which mainly targets particular significant nodes. Therefore, the robustness of the network becomes important for ensuring the network security. This paper presents a Robust Hybrid Artificial Fish Swarm Simulated Annealing Optimization (RHAFS-SA) Algorithm. It is introduced for improving the robust nature of free scale networks over malicious attacks (MA) with no change in degree distribution. The More >
