Applications of Advanced Optimized Neuro Fuzzy Models for Enhancing Daily Suspended Sediment Load Prediction

    Rana Muhammad Adnan1,2, Mo Wang1,*, Adil Masood3, Ozgur Kisi4,5,6,*, Shamsuddin Shahid7, Mohammad Zounemat-Kermani8

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.143, No.1, pp. 1249-1272, 2025, DOI:10.32604/cmes.2025.062339 - 11 April 2025

Abstract Accurate daily suspended sediment load (SSL) prediction is essential for sustainable water resource management, sediment control, and environmental planning. However, SSL prediction is highly complex due to its nonlinear and dynamic nature, making traditional empirical models inadequate. This study proposes a novel hybrid approach, integrating the Adaptive Neuro-Fuzzy Inference System (ANFIS) with the Gradient-Based Optimizer (GBO), to enhance SSL forecasting accuracy. The research compares the performance of ANFIS-GBO with three alternative models: standard ANFIS, ANFIS with Particle Swarm Optimization (ANFIS-PSO), and ANFIS with Grey Wolf Optimization (ANFIS-GWO). Historical SSL and streamflow data from the Bailong… More >

Leveraging Gradient-Based Optimizer and Deep Learning for Automated Soil Classification Model

    Hadeel Alsolai1, Mohammed Rizwanullah2,*, Mashael Maashi3, Mahmoud Othman4, Amani A. Alneil2, Amgad Atta Abdelmageed2

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.76, No.1, pp. 975-992, 2023, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2023.037936 - 08 June 2023

Abstract Soil classification is one of the emanating topics and major concerns in many countries. As the population has been increasing at a rapid pace, the demand for food also increases dynamically. Common approaches used by agriculturalists are inadequate to satisfy the rising demand, and thus they have hindered soil cultivation. There comes a demand for computer-related soil classification methods to support agriculturalists. This study introduces a Gradient-Based Optimizer and Deep Learning (DL) for Automated Soil Classification (GBODL-ASC) technique. The presented GBODL-ASC technique identifies various kinds of soil using DL and computer vision approaches. In the… More >

Performance of Gradient-Based Optimizer for Optimum Wind Cube Design

    Alaa A. K. Ismaeel1,2, Essam H. Houssein3, Amir Y. Hassan4, Mokhtar Said5,*

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.71, No.1, pp. 339-353, 2022, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2022.021517 - 03 November 2021

Abstract Renewable energy is a safe and limitless energy source that can be utilized for heating, cooling, and other purposes. Wind energy is one of the most important renewable energy sources. Power fluctuation of wind turbines occurs due to variation of wind velocity. A wind cube is used to decrease power fluctuation and increase the wind turbine’s power. The optimum design for a wind cube is the main contribution of this work. The decisive design parameters used to optimize the wind cube are its inner and outer radius, the roughness factor, and the height of the… More >
