Designing an Online Appointment System for Semiliterate Users

    Sarah Chaudhry1, Fakhra Batool1, Abdul Hafeez Muhammad1, Ansar Siddique2,*

    Intelligent Automation & Soft Computing, Vol.28, No.2, pp. 379-395, 2021, DOI:10.32604/iasc.2021.016263

Abstract Information and Communications Technology (ICT) has revolutionized the healthcare leading to provision of eHealth facilities remotely. During the peak time of COVID-19, as the long queues at health care facilities can result in spread of the virus. ICT can play an effective role especially for reducing the extended waiting time of patients to consult a medical practitioner which is considered as a source of hazard during the pandemic. However, in developing countries where majority population is semiliterate so find difficulty when come into contact with appointment systems which are not particularly designed keeping in consideration the requirements of semiliterate users.… More >

Emotion Recognition Using WT-SVM in Human-Computer Interaction

Zequn Wang, Rui Jiao, Huiping Jiang*

    Journal of New Media, Vol.2, No.3, pp. 121-130, 2020, DOI:10.32604/jnm.2020.010674

Abstract With the continuous development of the computer, people's requirements for computers are also getting more and more, so the brain-computer interface system (BCI) has become an essential part of computer research. Emotion recognition is an important task for the computer to understand social status in BCI. Affective computing (AC) aims to develop the model of emotions and advance the affective intelligence of computers. There are various emotion recognition approaches. The method based on electroencephalogram (EEG) is more reliable because it is higher in accuracy and more objective in evaluation than other external appearance clues such as emotion expression and gesture.… More >

Using Spatial Relations for Qualitative Specification of Gestures

    Giuseppe Della Penna1,∗, Sergio Orefice2,†

    Computer Systems Science and Engineering, Vol.34, No.6, pp. 325-338, 2019, DOI:10.32604/csse.2019.34.325

Abstract In this paper we present a qualitative spatial relation formalism capable to represent spatio-temporal knowledge. To this aim, we have added the notion of time within the formalisation of spatial relations in order to describe moving graphical objects. As a case study, we exploited this augmented formalism to support a qualitative specification of gestures, which are an increasingly relevant issue in the human-computer interaction field. The resulting technique provides gesture specification with a systematic and formal foundation. More >
