Cartesian Product Based Transfer Learning Implementation for Brain Tumor Classification

    Irfan Ahmed Usmani1,*, Muhammad Tahir Qadri1, Razia Zia1, Asif Aziz2, Farheen Saeed3

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.73, No.2, pp. 4369-4392, 2022, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2022.030698

Abstract Knowledge-based transfer learning techniques have shown good performance for brain tumor classification, especially with small datasets. However, to obtain an optimized model for targeted brain tumor classification, it is challenging to select a pre-trained deep learning (DL) model, optimal values of hyperparameters, and optimization algorithm (solver). This paper first presents a brief review of recent literature related to brain tumor classification. Secondly, a robust framework for implementing the transfer learning technique is proposed. In the proposed framework, a Cartesian product matrix is generated to determine the optimal values of the two important hyperparameters: batch size and learning rate. An extensive… More >

Hybrid Convolutional Neural Network and Long Short-Term Memory Approach for Facial Expression Recognition

    M. N. Kavitha1,*, A. RajivKannan2

    Intelligent Automation & Soft Computing, Vol.35, No.1, pp. 689-704, 2023, DOI:10.32604/iasc.2023.025437

Abstract Facial Expression Recognition (FER) has been an important field of research for several decades. Extraction of emotional characteristics is crucial to FERs, but is complex to process as they have significant intra-class variances. Facial characteristics have not been completely explored in static pictures. Previous studies used Convolution Neural Networks (CNNs) based on transfer learning and hyperparameter optimizations for static facial emotional recognitions. Particle Swarm Optimizations (PSOs) have also been used for tuning hyperparameters. However, these methods achieve about 92 percent in terms of accuracy. The existing algorithms have issues with FER accuracy and precision. Hence, the overall FER performance is… More >

Stock Price Prediction Using Optimal Network Based Twitter Sentiment Analysis

    Singamaneni Kranthi Kumar1,*, Alhassan Alolo Abdul-Rasheed Akeji2, Tiruvedula Mithun3, M. Ambika4, L. Jabasheela5, Ranjan Walia6, U. Sakthi7

    Intelligent Automation & Soft Computing, Vol.33, No.2, pp. 1217-1227, 2022, DOI:10.32604/iasc.2022.024311

Abstract In recent times, stock price prediction helps to determine the future stock prices of any financial exchange. Accurate forecasting of stock prices can result in huge profits to the investors. The prediction of stock market is a tedious process which involves different factors such as politics, economic growth, interest rate, etc. The recent development of social networking sites enables the investors to discuss the stock market details such as profit, future stock prices, etc. The proper identification of sentiments posted by the investors in social media can be utilized for predicting the upcoming stock prices. With this motivation, this paper… More >

Dynamic Hyperparameter Allocation under Time Constraints for Automated Machine Learning

Jeongcheol Lee, Sunil Ahn*, Hyunseob Kim, Jongsuk Ruth Lee

    Intelligent Automation & Soft Computing, Vol.31, No.1, pp. 255-277, 2022, DOI:10.32604/iasc.2022.018558

Abstract Automated hyperparameter optimization (HPO) is a crucial and time-consuming part in the automatic generation of efficient machine learning models. Previous studies could be classified into two major categories in terms of reducing training overhead: (1) sampling a promising hyperparameter configuration and (2) pruning non-promising configurations. These adaptive sampling and resource scheduling are combined to reduce cost, increasing the number of evaluations done on more promising configurations to find the best model in a given time. That is, these strategies are preferred to identify the best-performing models at an early stage within a certain deadline. Although these time and resource constraints… More >
