Median Filtering Forensics Scheme for Color Images Based on Quaternion Magnitude-Phase CNN

    Jinwei Wang1, *, Yang Zhang1

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.62, No.1, pp. 99-112, 2020, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2020.04373

Abstract In the paper, a convolutional neural network based on quaternion transformation is proposed to detect median filtering for color images. Compared with conventional convolutional neural network, color images can be processed in a holistic manner in the proposed scheme, which makes full use of the correlation between RGB channels. And due to the use of convolutional neural network, it can effectively avoid the one-sidedness of artificial features. Experimental results have shown the scheme’s improvement over the state-of-the-art scheme on the accuracy of color image median filtering detection. More >

    Zhangyi Shen1, Feng Ding2, *, Yunqing Shi1

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.62, No.1, pp. 1-16, 2020, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2020.08291

Abstract As a common medium in our daily life, images are important for most people to gather information. There are also people who edit or even tamper images to deliberately deliver false information under different purposes. Thus, in digital forensics, it is necessary to understand the manipulating history of images. That requires to verify all possible manipulations applied to images. Among all the image editing manipulations, recoloring is widely used to adjust or repaint the colors in images. The color information is an important visual information that image can deliver. Thus, it is necessary to guarantee the correctness of color in… More >

    BIOCELL, Vol.36, No.3, pp. 121-126, 2012, DOI:10.32604/biocell.2012.36.121

Abstract Recent findings suggest that apoptotic protein apoptosis-inducing factor (AIF) may also play an important non-apoptotic function inside mitochondria. AIF was proposed to be an important component of respiratory chain complex I that is the major producer of superoxide radical. The possible role of AIF is still controversial. Superoxide production could be used as a valuable measure of complex I function, because the majority of superoxide is produced there. Therefore, we employed superoxide-specific mitochondrial fluorescence dye for detection of superoxide production. We studied an impact of AIF knockdown on function of mitochondrial complex I by analyzing superoxide production in selected cell… More >

    Salomón N1, V Misller1, C Delrieux2, R Miranda3

    Phyton-International Journal of Experimental Botany, Vol.84, No.2, pp. 306-311, 2015, DOI:10.32604/phyton.2015.84.306

Abstract Color is one of the factors used in quality estimation in many agricultural and food products. Currently, the evaluation of color depends on judgments made by human experts. These are subjective and inevitably affected by physical, physiological and environmental conditions. Suitable instrumental is required to provide objectivity and coherence to color measurements and quantitative expressions. It would be very useful to have tools that allow both practical and precise approaches to chromatic evaluation of products for human consumption. This work suggests a methodology which might contribute to solve that constraint and the analysis of environmental influences on this character in… More >

    Phyton-International Journal of Experimental Botany, Vol.86, pp. 40-45, 2017, DOI:10.32604/phyton.2017.86.040

Abstract The introduction of ornamental crops to the Comarca Lagunera is a great market opportunity for producers of flowers, just as it is the case of Caladium bicolor which is exported to Europe, USA, Caribbean islands and Africa. The use of organic products derived from cattle manure for fertilization, improves physical soil conditions and provides significant amount of nutrients to plants and reduce production costs. Therefore, the objective of this study was to quantify the growth of tubercle and root of the ornamental plant Caladium bicolor by applying organic fertilizer (OF) extracted from cattle manure. The experimental design was completely randomized… More >

    Chaowen Lu1,a, Feifei Lee1,a,*, Lei Chen1, Sheng Huang1, Qiu Chen2,*

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.121, No.2, pp. 593-608, 2019, DOI:10.32604/cmes.2019.07796

Abstract Image retrieval has become more and more important because of the explosive growth of images on the Internet. Traditional image retrieval methods have limited image retrieval performance due to the poor image expression abhility of visual feature and high dimension of feature. Hashing is a widely-used method for Approximate Nearest Neighbor (ANN) search due to its rapidity and timeliness. Meanwhile, Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs) have strong discriminative characteristics which are used for image classification. In this paper, we propose a CNN architecture based on improved deep supervised hashing (IDSH) method, by which the binary compact codes can be generated directly.… More >

Coupled Digital Image Correlation and Peridynamics for Full-Field Deformation Measurement and Local Damage Prediction

    Tianyi Li1, Xin Gu1, Qing Zhang1,*, Dong Lei1

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.121, No.2, pp. 425-444, 2019, DOI:10.32604/cmes.2019.06700

Abstract Digital image correlation (DIC) measurement technique and peridynamics (PD) method have been applied in specific fields extensively owing to their respective advantages in obtaining full-field deformation and local failure of loaded materials and structures. This study provides a simple way to couple DIC measurements with PD simulations, which can circumvent the difficulties of DIC in dealing with discontinuous deformations. Taking the failure analysis of a compact tension specimen of aluminum alloy and a static three-point bending concrete beam as examples, the DIC experimental system firstly measures the full-field displacements, and then the PD simulation is applied on potential damage regions… More >

Non-Local DWI Image Super-Resolution with Joint Information Based on GPU Implementation

    Yanfen Guo1,2, Zhe Cui1,*, Zhipeng Yang3, Xi Wu2, Shaahin Madani4

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.61, No.3, pp. 1205-1215, 2019, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2019.06029

Abstract Since the spatial resolution of diffusion weighted magnetic resonance imaging (DWI) is subject to scanning time and other constraints, its spatial resolution is relatively limited. In view of this, a new non-local DWI image super-resolution with joint information method was proposed to improve the spatial resolution. Based on the non-local strategy, we use the joint information of adjacent scan directions to implement a new weighting scheme. The quantitative and qualitative comparison of the datasets of synthesized DWI and real DWI show that this method can significantly improve the resolution of DWI. However, the algorithm ran slowly because of the joint… More >

Abstract Compressive strength of concrete is a significant factor to assess building structure health and safety. Therefore, various methods have been developed to evaluate the compressive strength of concrete structures. However, previous methods have several challenges in costly, time-consuming, and unsafety. To address these drawbacks, this paper proposed a digital vision based concrete compressive strength evaluating model using deep convolutional neural network (DCNN). The proposed model presented an alternative approach to evaluating the concrete strength and contributed to improving efficiency and accuracy. The model was developed with 4,000 digital images and 61,996 images extracted from video recordings collected from concrete samples.… More >

    Molecular & Cellular Biomechanics, Vol.16, Suppl.2, pp. 111-111, 2019, DOI:10.32604/mcb.2019.07098

Abstract Surgeries such as implantation of deep brain stimulation devices require accurate placement of devices within the brain. Because placement affects performance, image guidance and robotic assistance techniques have been widely adopted. These methods require accurate prediction of brain deformation during and following implantation. In this study, a magnetic resonance (MR) image-based finite element (FE) model was proposed by using a coupled Eulerian-Lagrangian method. Anatomical accuracy was achieved by mapping image voxels directly to the volumetric mesh space. The potential utility was demonstrated by evaluating the effect of different surgical approaches on the deformation of the corpus callosum (CC) region. The… More >
