    M. Kashtalyan1,2, Y.A. Zhuk3

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.57, No.1, pp. 1-30, 2010, DOI:10.3970/cmes.2010.057.001

Abstract The paper investigates propagation of stationary plane longitudinal and transverse waves along the layers in adhesively bonded multilayered structures for MEMS applications in the presence of residual stresses. The multilayered structure is assumed to consist of the infinite amount of the periodically recurring layers made of two different materials possessing significantly dissimilar properties: conductive metal layer and insulating adhesive layer. It is assumed that the mechanical behaviour of both materials is nonlinear elastic and can be described with the help of the elastic Murnaghan potential depending on the three invariants of strain tensor. The problem is formulated in the framework… More >

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.49, No.1, pp. 47-68, 2009, DOI:10.3970/cmes.2009.049.047

Abstract The time-harmonic dynamical stress field in the system comprising two axially pre-stressed covering layer and two axially pre-stressed half space was studied under the action of uniformly distributed forces on free face plane of the covering layer. It is assumed that the forces are distributed within the rectangular area. The study was conducted within the scope of the piecewise homogeneous body model with the use of three-dimensional theory of elastic waves in an initially stressed bodies. The materials of the layer and half-space were assumed to be isotropic and homogeneous. The corresponding three-dimensional boundary-value-contact problem was solved by applying double… More >

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.55, No.2, pp. 359-380, 2018, DOI:10.3970/cmc.2018.00173

Abstract The paper deals with a development of the discrete-analytical method for the solution of the dynamical problems of a hollow sphere with inhomogeneous initial stresses. The examinations are made with respect to the problem on the natural vibration of the hollow sphere the initial stresses in which is caused by internal and external uniformly distributed pressure. The initial stresses in the sphere are determined within the scope of the exact equations of elastostatics. It is assumed that after appearing this static initial stresses the sphere gets a dynamical excitation and mechanical behavior of the sphere caused by this excitation is… More >

Mathematical Modelling and 3D FEM Analysis of the Influence of Initial Stresses on the ERR in a Band Crack’s Front in the Rectangular Orthotropic Thick Plate

    Arzu Turan Dincel1, Surkay D. Akbarov2,3

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.53, No.3, pp. 249-270, 2017, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2017.053.265

Abstract This paper deals with the mathematical modelling and 3D FEM study of the energy release rate (ERR) in the band crack’s front contained in the orthotropic thick rectangular plate which is stretched or compressed initially before the loading of the crack's edge planes. The initial stretching or compressing of the plate causes uniformly distributed normal stress to appear acting in the direction which is parallel to the plane on which the band crack is located. After the appearance of the initial stress in the plate it is assumed that the crack's edge planes are loaded with additional uniformly distributed normal… More >

Forced and Natural Vibrations of an Orthotropic Pre-Stressed Rectangular Plate with Neighboring Two Cylindrical Cavities

    U. Babuscu Yesil1

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.53, No.1, pp. 1-22, 2017, DOI:10.3970/cmc.2017.053.001

Abstract Forced and natural vibrations of a rectangular pre-stressed orthotropic composite plate containing two neighboring cylindrical cavities whose cross sections are rectangular with rounded-off corners are investigated numerically. It is assumed that all the end surfaces of the rectangular pre-stressed composite plate are simply supported and subjected to a uniformly distributed normal time-harmonic force on the upper face plane. The considered problem is formulated within the Three-Dimensional Linearized Theory of Elastic Waves in Initially Stressed Bodies (TDLTEWISB). The influence of mechanical and geometrical parameters as well as the initial stresses and the effect of cylindrical cavities on the dynamical characteristics of… More >

    Xiaoming Zhang1, Jiangong Yu1,2, Min Zhang1, Dengpan Zhang1

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.48, No.3, pp. 163-179, 2015, DOI:10.3970/cmc.2015.048.163

Abstract The characteristics of the guided waves propagation in functionally graded rods with rectangular cross-section (finite width and height) under initial stress are investigated in this paper based on Biot’s theory of incremental deformation. An extended orthogonal polynomial approach is present to solve the coupled wave equations with variable coefficients. By comparisons with the available results of a rectangular aluminum rod, the validity of the present approach is illustrated. The dispersion curves and displacement profiles of various rectangular functionally graded rods are calculated to reveal the wave characteristics, and the effects of different width to height ratios and initial stress and… More >

Effect of An Initial Stress on SH-Type GuidedWaves Propagating in a Piezoelectric Layer Bonded on A Piezomagnetic Substrate

    Guoquan Nie1,2, Jinxi Liu1, Ming Li1

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.48, No.3, pp. 133-145, 2015, DOI:10.3970/cmc.2015.048.133

Abstract Propagation of SH-type guided waves in a layered structure with an invariant initial stress is studied, where a piezoelectric thin layer is perfectly bonded on a piezomagnetic substrate. Both the layer and the substrate possess transversely isotropic property. The dispersion relations of SH waves are obtained for four kinds of different electro-magnetic boundary conditions. The effects of initial stress, thickness ratio and electro-magnetic boundary conditions on the propagation behaviors are analyzed in detail. The numerical results show that: 1) The positive initial stresses make the phase velocity increasing, while the negative initial stresses decrease the phase velocity; 2) The smaller… More >

    M. Negin1, S. D. Akbarov2,3, M. E. Erguven1

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.42, No.1, pp. 25-62, 2014, DOI:10.3970/cmc.2014.042.025

Abstract Within the framework of the piecewise homogeneous body model the influence of the shear-spring type imperfect contact conditions on the dispersion relation of the generalized Rayleigh waves in the system consisting of the initially stressed covering layer and initially stressed half plane is investigated. The second version of the small initial deformation theory of the three-dimensional linearized theory of elastic waves in initially stressed bodies is applied and the elasticity relations of the materials of the constituents are described by the Murnaghan potential. The magnitude of the imperfectness of the contact conditions is estimated through the shear-spring type parameter. Consequently,… More >

Abstract Within the scope of the piecewise homogeneous body model with utilizing of the three dimensional linearized theory of elastic waves in initially stressed bodies the influence of the shear-spring type imperfection of the contact conditions between the layers of the pre-stressed bi-layered plate strip resting on the rigid foundation, on the frequency response of this plate strip is investigated. The corresponding mathematical problem is solved numerically by employing FEM and numerical results illustrating the influence of the parameter characterizing the degree of the mentioned imperfectness, on the frequency response of the normal stress acting on the interface planes between the… More >
