Frontiers in Heat and Mass Transfer, Vol.8, pp. 1-7, 2017, DOI:10.5098/hmt.8.12

Abstract Mixed convection flows of nanofluid past an inclined stretching sheet with g-jitter effect is studied in this paper. Water based nanofluid containing copper, copper oxide, aluminium oxide and silver nanoparticles are concerned. Coupled nonlinear partial differential equations are solved using Kellerbox method. The effect of solid nanoparticles volume fraction parameter, frequency of oscillation and inclination angle parameter is observed to reduce the skin friction and heat transfer coefficients whereas mixed convection parameter increases both skin friction and heat transfer coefficients. Present study also shows that, the heat transfer coefficient is highest for silver nanofluid. More >

Classification of Elephant Sounds Using Parallel Convolutional Neural Network

    T. Thomas Leonid1,*, R. Jayaparvathy2

    Intelligent Automation & Soft Computing, Vol.32, No.3, pp. 1415-1426, 2022, DOI:10.32604/iasc.2022.021939

Abstract Human-elephant conflict is the most common problem across elephant habitat Zones across the world. Human elephant conflict (HEC) is due to the migration of elephants from their living habitat to the residential areas of humans in search of water and food. One of the important techniques used to track the movements of elephants is based on the detection of Elephant Voice. Our previous work [] on Elephant Voice Detection to avoid HEC was based on Feature set Extraction using Support Vector Machine (SVM). This research article is an improved continuum of the previous method using Deep learning techniques. The current… More >

Design and Analysis of 4-bit 1.2GS/s Low Power CMOS Clocked Flash ADC

    G. Prathiba1,*, M. Santhi2

    Intelligent Automation & Soft Computing, Vol.31, No.3, pp. 1611-1626, 2022, DOI:10.32604/iasc.2022.018975

Abstract High-quality, high-resolution flash ADCs are used in reliable VLSI (Very Large-Scale Integrated) circuits to minimize the power consumption. An analogue electrical signal is converted into a discrete-valued sequence by these ADCs. This paper proposes a four-bit 1.2GS/s low-power Clocked Flash ADC (C-FADC). A low-power Clocked-Improved Threshold Inverter Quantization (CITIQ) comparator, an Adaptive Bubble Free (ABF) logic circuit, and a compact Binary Encoder (BE) are all part of the presented structure. A clock network in the comparator circuit reduces skew and jitters, while an ABF logic circuit detects and corrects fourth order bubble faults detected from thermometer code, and then the… More >

Unsupervised Anomaly Detection via DBSCAN for KPIs Jitters in Network Managements

    Haiwen Chen1, Guang Yu1, Fang Liu2, Zhiping Cai1, *, Anfeng Liu3, Shuhui Chen1, Hongbin Huang1, Chak Fong Cheang4

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.62, No.2, pp. 917-927, 2020, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2020.05981

Abstract For many Internet companies, a huge amount of KPIs (e.g., server CPU usage, network usage, business monitoring data) will be generated every day. How to closely monitor various KPIs, and then quickly and accurately detect anomalies in such huge data for troubleshooting and recovering business is a great challenge, especially for unlabeled data. The generated KPIs can be detected by supervised learning with labeled data, but the current problem is that most KPIs are unlabeled. That is a time-consuming and laborious work to label anomaly for company engineers. Build an unsupervised model to detect unlabeled data is an urgent need… More >

Three Dimensional Modeling of Ge0.98Si0.02Crystal Growth Conducted on board FOTON-M2 in the Presence of Rotating Magnetic Field

    M.M. Shemirani1, M.Z. Saghir2

    FDMP-Fluid Dynamics & Materials Processing, Vol.5, No.3, pp. 211-230, 2009, DOI:10.3970/fdmp.2009.005.211

Abstract A three-dimensional numerical modeling of Ge0.98Si0.02crystal growth is conducted to investigate the effect of g-jitter along with rotating magnetic field on the heat and mass transfer in the solvent region. It was found that the speed in the flow under the low frequency g-jitter is in the nano-centimeter per second and is too weak to have any impact on the silicon concentration in the process of crystallization near the growth interface. Different magnetic field intensities for different rotational speeds were examined. It was also found that rotating magnetic field not only did not suppress the convection but also generated an… More >

    FDMP-Fluid Dynamics & Materials Processing, Vol.2, No.4, pp. 261-270, 2006, DOI:10.3970/fdmp.2006.002.261

Abstract The article presents the results of a numerical simulation study that was carried out to examine the effect of g-jitter on the flow and concentration structures observed in the solution of a growth crucible under microgravity conditions. The simulation model considers a simple crucible of electroepitaxy, and assumes crucible rotation and applied axial static magnetic fields to control and minimize the effect of g-jitter induced flow oscillations. A Comparative Study of G-jitter Effect on Thermal Diffusion aboard the International Space Station

    Y. Yan1, K. Jules2, M. Z. Saghir1

    FDMP-Fluid Dynamics & Materials Processing, Vol.3, No.3, pp. 231-246, 2007, DOI:10.3970/fdmp.2007.003.231

Abstract Fluid science research including thermal diffusion in fluids benefits from the quiescent low-gravity environment provided by the International Space Station (ISS). However, residual gravities (or g-jitters) aboard the ISS impact the overall environment in which experiments are being performed. The impact of these residual gravities needs to be assessed to ensure that they are appropriately accounted for when results are being reported for experiments performed onboard the ISS. In this paper we study the thermal diffusion process in a ternary mixture of n-butane, dodecane and methane. Measured data from the Space Acceleration Measurement System (SAMS) acceleration system onboard the ISS… More >

Numerical Study of Low Frequency G-jitter Effect on Thermal Diffusion

    Y. Yan1, V. Shevtsova2, M. Z. Saghir1

    FDMP-Fluid Dynamics & Materials Processing, Vol.1, No.4, pp. 315-328, 2005, DOI:10.3970/fdmp.2005.001.315

Abstract Convection has a major impact on diffusion in fluid mixtures either on the Earth or in the microgravity condition. G-jitters, as the primary source that induces the vibrational convection in space laboratories, should be studied thoroughly in order to improve the diffusion-dominated fluid science experiments. In this paper we consider the effect of g-jitters on thermal diffusion. The mixture water-isopropanol (90:10 wt%) bounded in a cubic cell is simulated with a lateral heating and various vibration conditions. The fluid flow, concentration and temperature distributions are thoroughly analyzed for different g-jitter scenarios. It is shown that the overall effect of vibrations… More >
