    FDMP-Fluid Dynamics & Materials Processing, Vol.19, No.3, pp. 603-617, 2023, DOI:10.32604/fdmp.2022.023919 - 29 September 2022

Abstract Pipelines are widely used for transporting oil resources in the context of offshore oil exploitation. The pipeline stress-strength analysis is an important stage in related design and ensuing construction techniques. In this study, assuming representative work environment parameters, pipeline lifting operations are investigated numerically. More specifically, a time-domain coupled dynamic analysis method is used to conduct a hydrodynamic analysis under different current velocities and wave heights. The results show that proper operation requires the lifting points are reasonably set in combination with the length of the pipeline and the position of the lifting device on More > Graphic Abstract

    Shengjun Deng1,2,3, Haolin Chen1, Xiaonan Gong2, Jiajin Zhou2, Xiangdong Hu4, Gang Jiang1,*

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.132, No.1, pp. 251-266, 2022, DOI:10.32604/cmes.2022.020388 - 02 June 2022

Abstract Freeze-sealing pipe roof method is applied in the Gongbei tunnel, which causes the ground surface uplift induced by frost heave. A frost heaving prediction approach based on the coefficient of cold expansion is proposed to simulate the ground deformation of the Gongbei tunnel. The coefficient of cold expansion in the model and the frost heaving rate from the frost heave test under the hydration condition can achieve a good correspondence making the calculation result closer to the actual engineering. The ground surface uplift along the lateral and longitudinal direction are respectively analyzed and compared with… More >

    FDMP-Fluid Dynamics & Materials Processing, Vol.18, No.4, pp. 933-955, 2022, DOI:10.32604/fdmp.2022.019736 - 06 April 2022

Abstract The problem of efficient gas lift for gas well annulus packers that rely on their own energy plungers is considered. The complex related gas-liquid problem is addressed in the frame of model where the gas inflow dynamics and liquid inflow dynamics of the considered shale gas wells are weakly coupled. On this basis, and with the aiding support of indoor simulation experimental data, a new gas plunger lift design taking into account liquid leakage is obtained. Finally, a dedicated software relying on this approach is developed and used to verify the reliability of the model More >

Abstract Owing to the development of next-generation network and data processing technologies, massive Internet of Things (IoT) devices are becoming hyperconnected. As a result, Linux malware is being created to attack such hyperconnected networks by exploiting security threats in IoT devices. To determine the potential threats of such Linux malware and respond effectively, malware classification through an analysis of the executed code is required; however, a limitation exists in that each heterogeneous architecture must be analyzed separately. However, the binary codes of a heterogeneous architecture can be translated to a high-level intermediate representation (IR) of the More >

Abstract Reducing drag during take-off and nominal (cruise) conditions is a problem of fundamental importance in aeronautical engineering. Existing studies have demonstrated that v-shaped symmetrical riblets can effectively be used for turbulence control, with those with dimensionless depth h+ = 15 and dimensionless width s+ = 15 having the best drag reduction effect. In the present study, experimental tests have been conducted considering two models of the same size, one with smooth surface, the other with v-shaped riblets of the h+ = 15 and s+ = 15 type. The results show that for an angle of attack in More >

Minimizing Warpage for Macro-Size Fused Deposition Modeling Parts

    Thanh Thuong Huynh1, Tien V. T. Nguyen2,3, Quoc Manh Nguyen4, Trieu Khoa Nguyen2,*

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.68, No.3, pp. 2913-2923, 2021, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2021.016064 - 06 May 2021

Abstract In this study, we investigated warpage and corner lifting minimization for three-dimensional printed parts generated by macro-size fused deposition modeling (FDM). First, the reasons for warpage were theoretically elucidated. This approach revealed that the thermal deformation and differential volumetric shrinkage of the extruded molten plastic resulted in warpage of FDM parts. In addition, low adhesion between the deposited model and the heated or non-heated printing bed may intensify warpage further. As a next step, initial small-size and medium-size models were used to identify parameters to manage and minimize warpage in a way that would reduce… More >
