Abstract MicroRNA (miR)-200b-3p has been associated with many tumors, but its involvement in pituitary adenoma is unclear. This study investigated the molecular mechanism underlying miR-200b-3p regulation in pituitary adenomas to provide a theoretical basis for treatment. Bioinformatics was used to analyze pituitary adenoma-related genes and screen new targets related to RECK and miRNA. As well, the relationship between miR-200b-3p and RECK protein was verified using a double-luciferase reporter gene assay. The expression of miR-200b-3p in clinical samples was analyzed by in situ hybridization. Transfection of the miR-200b-3p inhibitor and small interfering-RECK (si-RECK) was verified by qPCR. GH3 cell viability and proliferation… More >

Abstract Background: As a form of biological therapy, placenta-derived mesenchymal stem cells (PDMSCs) exhibit considerable promise in addressing the complex pathological processes of traumaticbrain injury (TBI) due to their multi-target and multi-pathway mode of action. Material & Methods: This study investigates the protective mechanisms and benefits of PDMSCs in mitigating the effects of controlled cortical impact (CCI) in rats and glutamate-induced oxidative stress injury in HT22 cells in vitro. Our primary objective is to provide evidence supporting the clinical application of PDMSCs. Results: In the in vivo arm of our investigation, we observed a swift elevation of matrix metalloproteinase-9 (MMP-9) in… More > Graphic Abstract

Abstract Endometriosis is a chronic inflammatory disease that occurs due to the presence of endometrial tissue outside the uterine cavity. It affects from 5% to 10% of women of reproductive age. High levels of matrix metalloproteinase (especially MMP-9) have been observed in women suffering from endometriosis. Thus, the aim of this study was to investigate the naturally anti-inflammatory compounds available from an algal source that can target the MMP-9 by various in silico approaches. The target 1L6J (Crystal structure of human matrix metalloproteinase MMP-9) structure was retrieved from the PDB database. Five compounds such as Eckol, Sargafuran, Vitamin E, Docosahexaenoic acid,… More >

Abstract Abnormal shear stress in the blood vessel is an important stimulating factor for the formation of angiogenesis and vulnerable plaques. This paper intended to explore the role of shear stress-regulated Id1 in angiogenesis. First, we applied a carotid artery ring ligation to create local stenosis in ApoE-/- mice. Then, 3D geometry of the vessel network was reconstructed based on MRI, and our analysis of computational fluid dynamics revealed that wall shear stress of the proximal region was much higher than that of the distal region. In addition, results from histological staining of the proximal region found more vulnerable-probe plaques with… More >
