    Machireddy Gnaneswara Reddy*

Frontiers in Heat and Mass Transfer, Vol.5, pp. 1-9, 2014, DOI:10.5098/hmt.5.4

Abstract The numerical solution of transient natural convection MHD flow past a vertical cylinder embedded in a porous medium with surface temperature and concentration along with thermal radiation is presented. The temperature and concentration level at the cylinder surface are assumed to vary as power law type functions, with exponents m and n respectively in the stream wise co-ordinate. The governing boundary layer equations are converted into a non-dimensional form. A Crank-Nicolson type of implicit finite-difference method is used to solve the governing non-linear set of equations. Numerical results are obtained and presented with various thermal and mass Grashof numbers and… More >

Frontiers in Heat and Mass Transfer, Vol.6, pp. 1-10, 2015, DOI:10.5098/hmt.6.21

Abstract The combined effects of chemical reaction and viscous dissipation on hydromagnetic mixed convective flow towards a vertical plate embedded in a highly porous medium with radiation and internal heat generation has been examined. The governing boundary layer equations have been transformed to a two-point boundary value problem using a local similarity approach and solved numerically using the Newton Raphson shooting method alongside the Fourth-order Runge - Kutta algorithm. The effects of various embedded parameters on fluid velocity, temperature and concentration have been presented graphically whilst the skin friction coefficient and the rates of heat and mass transfers have been tabulated… More >

    D. Srinivasacharyaa,*, A.J. Chamkhab, O. Surendera, A.M. Rashadc,d

Frontiers in Heat and Mass Transfer, Vol.6, pp. 1-7, 2015, DOI:10.5098/hmt.6.19

Abstract The aim of the present article is to analyze the influence of thermal and mass stratification on natural convection heat and mass transfer over a porous vertical plate with uniform and constant wall temperature and concentration in porous medium. The Brinkman-Forchheimer based model is employed to describe the flow in the porous medium. The nonlinear governing equations and their associated boundary conditions are initially cast into dimensionless forms by pseudo-similarity variables. The resulting system of nonlinear, coupled partial differential equations is then solved numerically. The influence of pertinent parameters on the dimensionless velocity, temperature, concentration, heat and mass transfer coefficients… More >

Hamzeh Taha Alkasasbeh1,*, Muhammad Khairul Anuar Mohamed2

Frontiers in Heat and Mass Transfer, Vol.21, pp. 265-279, 2023, DOI:10.32604/fhmt.2023.041539

Abstract The present study numerically investigates the flow and heat transfer of porous Williamson hybrid nanofluid on an exponentially shrinking sheet with magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) effects. The nonlinear partial differential equations which governed the model are first reduced to a set of ordinary differential equations by using the similarity transformation. Next, the BVP4C solver is applied to solve the equations by considering the pertinent fluid parameters such as the permeability parameter, the magnetic parameter, the Williamson parameter, the nanoparticle volume fractions and the wall mass transfer parameter. The single (SWCNTs) and multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) nanoparticles are taken as the hybrid nanoparticles.… More >

Revolutionizing Tight Reservoir Production: A Novel Dual-Medium Unsteady Seepage Model for Optimizing Volumetrically Fractured Horizontal Wells

    Xinyu Zhao1,2,*, Mofeng Li2, Kai Yan2, Li Yin3

    Energy Engineering, Vol.120, No.12, pp. 2933-2949, 2023, DOI:10.32604/ee.2023.041580

Abstract This study presents an avant-garde approach for predicting and optimizing production in tight reservoirs, employing a dual-medium unsteady seepage model specifically fashioned for volumetrically fractured horizontal wells. Traditional models often fail to fully capture the complex dynamics associated with these unconventional reservoirs. In a significant departure from these models, our approach incorporates an initiation pressure gradient and a discrete fracture seepage network, providing a more realistic representation of the seepage process. The model also integrates an enhanced fluid-solid interaction, which allows for a more comprehensive understanding of the fluid-structure interactions in the reservoir. This is achieved through the incorporation of… More >

Frontiers in Heat and Mass Transfer, Vol.6, pp. 1-13, 2015, DOI:10.5098/hmt.6.7

Abstract An analytical study of entropy generation in steady boundary layer flow, heat and mass transfer characteristic of 2D convective flow of a micro polar fluid over a stretching sheet embedded through a highly absorbing medium is performed. The governing equations are continuity, momentum boundary layer, micro rotation, and energy takes into account of Rosseland approximation for thermal radiation sources are solved analytically. The governing system of partial differential equations is first transformed into a system of non-linear ordinary differential equations using similarity transformation. The transformed equations are non-linear coupled differential equations which are then linearized by quasi-linearization method and solved… More >

    R.R. Kairia, Ch. RamReddyb,*

Frontiers in Heat and Mass Transfer, Vol.6, pp. 1-7, 2015, DOI:10.5098/hmt.6.6

Abstract In this paper, we investigated the influence of melting on mixed convection heat and mass transfer from the vertical flat plate in a non-Newtonian nanofluid saturated porous medium. The wall and the ambient medium are maintained at constant, but different, levels of temperature and concentration. The Ostwald–de Waele power-law model is used to characterize the non-Newtonian nanofluid behavior. A similarity solution for the transformed governing equations is obtained. The numerical computation is carried out for various values of the non-dimensional physical parameters. The variation of temperature, concentration, heat and mass transfer coefficients with the power-law index, mixed convection parameter, melting… More >

Frontiers in Heat and Mass Transfer, Vol.7, pp. 1-14, 2016, DOI:10.5098/hmt.7.12

Abstract This article aims to examine the MHD unsteady flow of Williamson nanofluid in a vertical channel filled with a porous material and oscillating wall temperature. The modeling of this problem is transformed to ordinary differential equations by collecting the non-periodic and periodic terms and then series solutions are obtained by using a powerful method known as the homotopy analysis method (HAM). The influence of involved parameters on heat and mass transfer characteristics of the fluid flow is computed and presented graphically. Further, variations on volume flow rate, coefficient of skin friction, heat transfer rate and mass transfer rate are also… More >
