    Chia-Nan Wang1, Yu-Chen Wei2, Po-Yuk So3,*, Viet Tinh Nguyen4, Phan Nguyen Ky Phuc5

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.71, No.3, pp. 5875-5889, 2022, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2022.023880 - 14 January 2022

Abstract The garment industry in Vietnam is one of the country's strongest industries in the world. However, the production process still encounters problems regarding scheduling that does not equate to an optimal process. The paper introduces a production scheduling solution that resolves the potential delays and lateness that hinders the production process using integer programming and order allocation with a make-to-order manufacturing viewpoint. A number of constraints were considered in the model and is applied to a real case study of a factory in order to view how the tardiness and lateness would be affected which More >

A mathematical optimization model to minimize the school maintenance cost in a three-year period was provided in the GAMS software with CPLEX solver. Finally, the optimum architecture of the Perceptron multi-layer neural network was used to predict the schedule of equipment More >

Optimization Model for Selecting Temporary Hospital Locations During COVID-19 Pandemic

    Chia-Nan Wang1, Chien-Chang Chou2,*, Hsien-Pin Hsu3, Van Thanh Nguyen4, Viet Tinh Nguyen4

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.70, No.1, pp. 397-412, 2022, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2022.019470 - 07 September 2021

Abstract The two main approaches that countries are using to ease the strain on healthcare infrastructure is building temporary hospitals that are specialized in treating COVID-19 patients and promoting preventive measures. As such, the selection of the optimal location for a temporary hospital and the calculation of the prioritization of preventive measures are two of the most critical decisions during the pandemic, especially in densely populated areas where the risk of transmission of the virus is highest. If the location selection process or the prioritization of measures is poor, healthcare workers and patients can be harmed,… More >

    Chia-Nan Wang1, Zhao-Hong Cheng2,*, Nguyen Ky Phuc Phan3, Van Thanh Nguyen4

    Computer Systems Science and Engineering, Vol.38, No.2, pp. 239-249, 2021, DOI:10.32604/csse.2021.016578 - 23 April 2021

Abstract Production scheduling involves all activities of building production schedules, including coordinating and assigning activities to each person, group of people, or machine and arranging work orders in each workplace. Production scheduling must solve all problems such as minimizing customer wait time, storage costs, and production time; and effectively using the enterprise’s human resources. This paper studies the application of flexible job shop modelling on scheduling a woven labelling process. The labelling process includes several steps which are handled in different work-stations. Each workstation is also comprised of several identical parallel machines. In this study, job… More >

A Heuristics-Based Cost Model for Scientific Workflow Scheduling in Cloud

Ehab Nabiel Al-Khanak1,*, Sai Peck Lee2, Saif Ur Rehman Khan3, Navid Behboodian4, Osamah Ibrahim Khalaf5, Alexander Verbraeck6, Hans van Lint1

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.67, No.3, pp. 3265-3282, 2021, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2021.015409 - 01 March 2021

Abstract Scientific Workflow Applications (SWFAs) can deliver collaborative tools useful to researchers in executing large and complex scientific processes. Particularly, Scientific Workflow Scheduling (SWFS) accelerates the computational procedures between the available computational resources and the dependent workflow jobs based on the researchers’ requirements. However, cost optimization is one of the SWFS challenges in handling massive and complicated tasks and requires determining an approximate (near-optimal) solution within polynomial computational time. Motivated by this, current work proposes a novel SWFS cost optimization model effective in solving this challenge. The proposed model contains three main stages: (i) scientific workflow… More >

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.116, No.1, pp. 89-107, 2018, DOI:10.31614/cmes.2018.04041

Abstract With market competition becoming fiercer, enterprises must update their products by constantly assimilating new big data knowledge and private knowledge to maintain their market shares at different time points in the big data environment. Typically, there is mutual influence between each knowledge transfer if the time interval is not too long. It is necessary to study the problem of continuous knowledge transfer in the big data environment. Based on research on one-time knowledge transfer, a model of continuous knowledge transfer is presented, which can consider the interaction between knowledge transfer and determine the optimal knowledge More >

The aim is to improve the performance of a specific stage and ultimately of the whole engine. The integrated system developed for this purpose is described. This combines the optimizer with an existing geometry parameterization scheme and a well-established CFD package. The system's performance is illustrated through case studies -- one two-dimensional, one three-dimensional -- in which… More >
