    Nebras M. Sobahi1,*, Ahteshamul Haque2, V S Bharath Kurukuru2, Md. Mottahir Alam1, Asif Irshad Khan3

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.74, No.3, pp. 5757-5776, 2023, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2022.028340

Abstract Increasing renewable energy targets globally has raised the requirement for the efficient and profitable operation of solar photovoltaic (PV) systems. In light of this requirement, this paper provides a path for evaluating the operating condition and improving the power output of the PV system in a grid integrated environment. To achieve this, different types of faults in grid-connected PV systems (GCPVs) and their impact on the energy loss associated with the electrical network are analyzed. A data-driven approach using neural networks (NNs) is proposed to achieve root cause analysis and localize the fault to the component level in the system.… More >

Abstract Wind power is one of the sustainable ways to generate renewable energy. In recent years, some countries have set renewables to meet future energy needs, with the primary goal of reducing emissions and promoting sustainable growth, primarily the use of wind and solar power. To achieve the prediction of wind power generation, several deep and machine learning models are constructed in this article as base models. These regression models are Deep neural network (DNN), k-nearest neighbor (KNN) regressor, long short-term memory (LSTM), averaging model, random forest (RF) regressor, bagging regressor, and gradient boosting (GB) regressor. In addition, data cleaning and… More >

Performance Evaluation of Composite Electrolyte with GQD for All-Solid-State Lithium Batteries

    Sung Won Hwang, Dae-Ki Hong*

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.74, No.1, pp. 55-66, 2023, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2023.028845

Abstract The use a stabilized lithium structure as cathode material for batteries could be a fundamental alternative in the development of next-generation energy storage devices. However, the lithium structure severely limits battery life causes safety concerns due to the growth of lithium (Li) dendrites during rapid charge/discharge cycles. Solid electrolytes, which are used in high-density energy storage devices and avoid the instability of liquid electrolytes, can be a promising alternative for next-generation batteries. Nevertheless, poor lithium ion conductivity and structural defects at room temperature have been pointed out as limitations. In this study, through the application of a low-dimensional graphene quantum… More >

    Omar Said*

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.133, No.3, pp. 673-695, 2022, DOI:10.32604/cmes.2022.021160

Abstract In recent years, the Internet of Things (IoT) technology has been considered one of the most attractive fields for researchers due to its aspirations and implications for society and life as a whole. The IoT environment contains vast numbers of devices, equipment, and heterogeneous users who generate massive amounts of data. Furthermore, things’ entry into and exit from IoT systems occur dynamically, changing the topology and content of IoT networks very quickly. Therefore, managing IoT environments is among the most pressing challenges. This paper proposes an adaptive and dynamic scheme for managing IoT environments is proposed. This management scheme depends… More >

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.73, No.2, pp. 3575-3593, 2022, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2022.030476

Abstract During the last decade, the food and beverage industry has been one of the most significant and prioritized industries that contributed to the economic growth in Vietnam. Therefore, how to enhance the performance of food and beverage firms has become a critical factor for Vietnam’s economic development. This research aims to use the data envelopment analysis (DEA) and the Malmquist productivity index (MPI) to assess changes in operational performance and productivity of listed lead food and beverage firms in Vietnam during the period between 2015 and 2020. The obtained results reveal that Vietnamese food and beverage firms were generally inefficient… More >

Performance Evaluation of Electromagnetic Shield Constructed from Open-Cell Metal Foam Based on Sphere Functions

    Yuya Hanaoka1,*, Taku Itoh2, Kohei Tateyama3, Susumu Nakata4, Keiko Watanabe3

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.132, No.1, pp. 43-53, 2022, DOI:10.32604/cmes.2022.016831

Abstract This study evaluates the performance of a model of open-cell metal foams generated by sphere functions. To this end, an electromagnetic shield constructed from the model was inserted between two horn antennas in an electromagnetic wave propagation simulation. The foam-hole diameter in the electromagnetic shield model was varied as d = 2.5 and 5.0 mm, and the frequency of the electromagnetic waves was varied from 3 to 13 GHz. In the numerical experiments of shield effectiveness, the shields with foam holes of both diameters attenuated the electromagnetic waves across the studied frequency range. The shield effectiveness was enhanced at low… More >

Experimental Performance Evaluation and Artificial-Neural-Network Modeling of ZnO-CuO/EG-W Hybrid Nanofluids

Yuling Zhai*, Long Li, Zihao Xuan, Mingyan Ma, Hua Wang

    FDMP-Fluid Dynamics & Materials Processing, Vol.18, No.3, pp. 629-646, 2022, DOI:10.32604/fdmp.2022.017485

Abstract The thermo-physical properties of nanofluids are highly dependent on the used base fluid. This study explores the influence of the mixing ratio on the thermal conductivity and viscosity of ZnO-CuO/EG (ethylene glycol)-W (water) hybrid nanofluids with mass concentration and temperatures in the ranges 1-5 wt.% and 25-60°C, respectively. The characteristics and stability of these mixtures were estimated by TEM (transmission electron microscopy), visual observation, and absorbance tests. The results show that 120 min of sonication and the addition of PVP (polyvinyl pyrrolidone) surfactant can prevent sedimentation for a period reaching up to 20 days. The increase of EG (ethylene glycol)… More >

    Xuehui Wang1, Edward Wright1, Zeyu Liu1, Neng Gao2,*, Ying Li3

    Energy Engineering, Vol.119, No.2, pp. 801-814, 2022, DOI:10.32604/ee.2022.018241

Abstract The pulsating heat pipe is a very promising heat dissipation device to address the challenge of higher heat-flux electronic chips, as it is characterised by excellent heat transfer ability and flexibility for miniaturisation. To boost the application of PHP, reliable heat transfer performance evaluation models are especially important. In this paper, a heat transfer correlation was firstly proposed for closed PHP with various working fluids (water, ethanol, methanol, R123, acetone) based on collected experimental data. Dimensional analysis was used to group the parameters. It was shown that the average absolute deviation (AAD) and correlation coefficient (r) of the correlation were… More >
