    Bioactive Potential of Calophyllum inophyllum: Phytochemical Profiles, Biological Activities, and In Silico Pharmacokinetic Predictions

    Abstract Calophyllum inophyllum is a tropical plant that could have useful medicinal properties for pharmaceutical and cosmetic applications. The present study extracted the flower, fruit, leaf, twig, and bark of the plant by maceration in different organic solvents. The correlation between bioactive compounds and their biological activities was investigated, with emphasis on their therapeutic relevance through in silico pharmacokinetic predictions using SwissADME. Qualitative and quantitative analyses were conducted to determine the total phenolic, flavonoid, and saponin contents of the extracts.     Abstract Gilia capitata Sims (Polemoniaceae) is an annual herbaceous plant widely distributed in western North America and cultivated as an ornamental flower. The detailed chemical composition and pharmacological properties of this plant have not been previously reported. This study aimed to investigate the chemical composition and pharmacological activity of aqueous-ethanolic extracts derived from different plant parts (herb, flowers, stems, roots, and fruits). HPLC analysis identified 12 phenolic compounds and 16 amino acids in the aqueous-ethanolic extracts obtained from these plant parts.     Abstract Centaurium erythraea Rafn (“Gosset El Haya”) has long been prized in North African folk medicine, yet Moroccan chemobiological data remain scarce. Ethanol extracts of northern Moroccan aerial parts were profiled by high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) and found rich in phenolics, dominated by 4-hydroxybenzoic acid (57.8%) and naringin (10.3%). The extract exhibited strong antioxidant power in the 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) radical-scavenging assay, with a half-maximal inhibitory concentration (IC50) of ≈74 µg mL−1, and a total antioxidant capacity (TAC) of ≈201 µg mL−1 and selective antimicrobial activity, sharply inhibiting Aspergillus niger, Penicillium digitatum, and Rhodotorula glutinis while sparing Staphylococcus aureus.     Abstract The Tragopogon dubius is traditionally used to treat many ailments, consumed as a vegetable, and utilized as fodder for livestock. Tragopogon dubius, found in the Kashmir Himalayas, is the least explored for its bioactivity properties and has a unique geographical location. This study is the first attempt to investigate the antioxidant, anticancer, and genoprotective properties of the aqueous extracts from the leaves (AQ-TrDL) and stems (AQ-TrDS) of this plant.     Abstract Pineappleweed (Matricaria discoidea DC., Asteraceae) herb is an essential oil containing raw material with spasmolytic and anti-inflammatory activity. It is also rich in phenolics, which may be used in pharmaceutical practice. This study aimed to investigate the phenolic and amino acid composition and the hyporific and analgesic effects of the M. discoidea aqueous-ethanolic extract and its amino acid modifications.
