    Neeti Gandhi1,3, Nicholas Farfaras2, Nien-Hwa Linda Wang3, Wan-Ting Chen2,*

    Journal of Renewable Materials, Vol.9, No.8, pp. 1463-1483, 2021, DOI:10.32604/jrm.2021.015529

Abstract Increasing production and use of various novel plastics products, a low recycling rate, and lack of effective recycling/disposal methods have resulted in an exponential growth in plastic waste accumulation in landfills and in the environment. To better understand the effects of plastic waste, Life Cycle Analysis (LCA) was done to compare the effects of various production and disposal methods. LCA shows the specific effects of the cradle-to-grave or cradle-to-cradle scenarios for landfill, incineration, and mechanical recycling. The analysis clearly indicates that increasing recycling of plastics can significantly save energy and eliminate harmful emissions of various carcinogens and GHGs into the… More >

    Sandeep Kumar1, Teekam Singh1,2, Kamaleldin Abodayeh3, Wasfi Shatanawi3,4,5,*

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.66, No.3, pp. 2343-2357, 2021, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2021.014224

Abstract This study presents an inventory model for imperfect products with depletion in ordering costs and constant lead time where the price discount in the backorder is permitted. The imperfect products are refused or modified or if they reached to the customer, returned and thus some extra costs are experienced. Lately some of the researchers explicitly present on the significant association between size of lot and quality imperfection. In practical situations, the unsatisfied demands increase the period of lead time and decrease the backorders. To control customers' problems and losses, the supplier provides a price discount in backorders during shortages. Also,… More >

An Analysis of the Operation Mechanism of Chemical Industry Park Ecosystem Based on Theory of Ecological Organization

    Bilin Xu, Mei Han*

    Energy Engineering, Vol.118, No.2, pp. 323-339, 2021, DOI:10.32604/EE.2021.013384

Abstract Based on the theory of ecological organization, this paper analyzes the operation mechanism of chemical industry park (CIP) ecosystem by means of dynamic simulation. The research shows that the CIP ecosystem is a complex ecological system whose operation mechanism includes two levels, namely individual enterprises and ecosystem. At the level of individual enterprise, there are competition, symbiosis, invasion and other interactions between enterprises in the CIP ecosystem. Through the pre-determined judgment of the competition effect coefficient and the symbiosis effect coefficient, we calculate how the enterprises influence each other, and then generate their respective operation paths, and finally realize the… More >

    Vidblain Amaro-Ortega1,∗, Arnoldo Díaz-Ramírez2, Brenda Leticia Flores-Ríos1, Félix Fernando González-Navarro1, Frank Werner3, Larysa Burtseva1

    Computer Systems Science and Engineering, Vol.33, No.1, pp. 31-40, 2018, DOI:10.32604/csse.2018.33.031

Abstract The Linux operating system has been employed to execute numerous real-time applications. However, it is limited to support soft real-time systems by two scheduling policies: First-In-First-Out and Round Robin. For real-time systems with critical constraints, the soft real-time support and these scheduling policies are still insufficient. In this work, the Earliest Deadline First scheduling policy, which has been shown in theory to be an optimal one in uniprocessor systems, is introduced as an extension of the Linux kernel. This policy is implemented into the real-time class, without the necessity of defining an additional class. The Linux kernel affords capabilities of… More >

Abstract Named Data Networking (NDN) is one of the most excellent future Internet architectures and every router in NDN has the capacity of caching contents passing by. It greatly reduces network traffic and improves the speed of content distribution and retrieval. In order to make full use of the limited caching space in routers, it is an urgent challenge to make an efficient cache replacement policy. However, the existing cache replacement policies only consider very few factors that affect the cache performance. In this paper, we present a cache replacement policy based on multi-factors for NDN (CRPM), in which the content… More >
