A Meaningful Image Encryption Algorithm Based on Prediction Error and Wavelet Transform

    Mengling Zou1, Zhengxuan Liu2, Xianyi Chen3, *

    Journal on Big Data, Vol.1, No.3, pp. 151-158, 2019, DOI:10.32604/jbd.2019.09057

Abstract Image encryption (IE) is a very useful and popular technology to protect the privacy of users. Most algorithms usually encrypt the original image into an image similar to texture or noise, but texture and noise are an obvious visual indication that the image has been encrypted, which is more likely to cause the attacks of enemy. To overcome this shortcoming, many image encryption systems, which convert the original image into a carrier image with visual significance have been proposed. However, the generated cryptographic image still has texture features. In line with the idea of improving the visual quality of the… More >

l1-norm Based GWLP for Robust Frequency Estimation

    Yuan Chen1, Liangtao Duan1, Weize Sun2, *, Jingxin Xu3

    Journal on Big Data, Vol.1, No.3, pp. 107-116, 2019, DOI:10.32604/jbd.2019.07294

Abstract In this work, we address the frequency estimation problem of a complex singletone embedded in the heavy-tailed noise. With the use of the linear prediction (LP) property and l1-norm minimization, a robust frequency estimator is developed. Since the proposed method employs the weighted l1-norm on the LP errors, it can be regarded as an extension of the lp-generalized weighted linear predictor. Computer simulations are conducted in the environment of α-stable noise, indicating the superiority of the proposed algorithm, in terms of its robust to outliers and nearly optimal estimation performance. Review on the Prediction of Residual Stress in Welded Steel Components

    Junyan Ni1, Xincun Zhuang2, 3, Magd Abdel Wahab4, 5, *

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.62, No.2, pp. 495-523, 2020, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2020.08448

Abstract Residual stress after welding has negative effects on the service life of welded steel components or structures. This work reviews three most commonly used methods for predicting residual stress, namely, empirical, semi-empirical and process simulation methods. Basic principles adopted by these methods are introduced. The features and limitations of each method are discussed as well. The empirical method is the most practical but its accuracy relies heavily on experiments. Mechanical theories are employed in the semi-empirical method, while other aspects, such as temperature variation and phase transformation, are simply ignored. The process simulation method has been widely used due to… More >

    FDMP-Fluid Dynamics & Materials Processing, Vol.15, No.5, pp. 527-544, 2019, DOI:10.32604/fdmp.2019.07903

Abstract The ability to predict liquid loading in horizontal gas wells is of great importance for determining the time of drainage and optimizing the related production technology. In the present work, we describe the outcomes of experiments conducted using air-water mixtures in a horizontal well. The results show that the configuration with an inclined section is the most susceptible to liquid loading. Laboratory experiments in an inclined pipe were also conducted to analyze the variation of the critical gas flow rate under different angles, pressure and liquid volume (taking the equal liquid volume at inlet and outlet as the criterion for… More >

A six-rhabdomere, open rhabdom arrangement in the eye of the chrysanthemum beetle Phytoecia rufiventris: some ecophysiological predictions based on eye anatomy

    VICTOR BENNO MEYER-ROCHOW1,2,*, MONALISA MISHRA1

    BIOCELL, Vol.33, No.2, pp. 115-120, 2009, DOI:10.32604/biocell.2009.33.115

Abstract We are describing a rhabdom organization of the eye of the chrysanthemum beetle Phytoecia rufiventris that to date has not been described from any other insect. In cerambycid beetles free rhabdomeres, forming a circular, open rhabdom, surround a central rhabdom made up of the rhabdomeres of one or two cells. In Phytoecia rufiventris the central rhabdomeres are missing throughout the eye and the microvilli of the outer 6 rhabdomeres are regularly oriented in three directions. Following the classification of rhabdom types suggested by Wachmann (1979), we suggest to name the rhabdom arrangement seen in the retina of Phytoecia rufiventris “Grundmuster… More >

Prediction of tomato hybrid performance with genomic markers

    Hernández-Ibáñez L, J Sahagún-Castellanos, JE Rodríguez-Pérez, MG Peña-Ortega, LM Rodríguez-Martínez

    Phyton-International Journal of Experimental Botany, Vol.83, pp. 311-318, 2014, DOI:10.32604/phyton.2014.83.311

Abstract In many countries, tomato (Solanum lycopersicum L.) is the most important horticultural species, but good variety seeds are expensive. In hybrid breeding, the number of possible single crosses is too large with only a few lines. With 60 lines, for example, 1770 single-cross hybrids can be formed. This makes it expensive and even impossible to conduct an adequate experimental evaluation. These cases require the availability of methods for predicting hybrid performance. This study was designed to evaluate a method to predict fruit yield in tomato hybrids based on genomic fingerprints, the theory of mixed models, and the experimental evaluation of… More >

Coupled Digital Image Correlation and Peridynamics for Full-Field Deformation Measurement and Local Damage Prediction

    Tianyi Li1, Xin Gu1, Qing Zhang1,*, Dong Lei1

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.121, No.2, pp. 425-444, 2019, DOI:10.32604/cmes.2019.06700

Abstract Digital image correlation (DIC) measurement technique and peridynamics (PD) method have been applied in specific fields extensively owing to their respective advantages in obtaining full-field deformation and local failure of loaded materials and structures. This study provides a simple way to couple DIC measurements with PD simulations, which can circumvent the difficulties of DIC in dealing with discontinuous deformations. Taking the failure analysis of a compact tension specimen of aluminum alloy and a static three-point bending concrete beam as examples, the DIC experimental system firstly measures the full-field displacements, and then the PD simulation is applied on potential damage regions… More >

Machine Learning Prediction of Tissue Strength and Local Rupture Risk in Ascending Thoracic Aortic Aneurysms

    Xuehuan He1, Stephane Avril2, Jia Lu1,*

    Molecular & Cellular Biomechanics, Vol.16, Suppl.2, pp. 50-52, 2019, DOI:10.32604/mcb.2019.07390

Abstract A Multi-layer Perceptron (MLP) neural network model [1] is developed to predict the strength of ascending thoracic aortic aneurysm (ATAA) tissues using tension-strain data and assess local rupture risk. The data were collected through in vitro inflation tests on ATAA samples from 12 patients who underwent surgical intervention [2]. An inverse stress analysis was performed to compute the wall tension at Gauss points. Some of these Gauss points are at or near sites where the samples eventually ruptured, while others are at locations where the tissue remained intact. A total of 27,648 tension- strain curves, including 26,676 2223 nonrupture and… More >
