Research on Sleeve Grouting Density Detection Based on the Impact Echo Method

    Pu Zhang1, Yingjun Li1, Xinyu Zhu1, Shizhan Xu1, Pinwu Guan1,*, Wei Liu2, Yanwei Guo2, Haibo Wang2

    Structural Durability & Health Monitoring, Vol.18, No.2, pp. 143-159, 2024, DOI:10.32604/sdhm.2024.046986

Abstract Grouting defects are an inherent challenge in construction practices, exerting a considerable impact on the operational structural integrity of connections. This investigation employed the impact-echo technique for the detection of grouting anomalies within connections, enhancing its precision through the integration of wavelet packet energy principles for damage identification purposes. A series of grouting completeness assessments were meticulously conducted, taking into account variables such as the divergent material properties of the sleeves and the configuration of adjacent reinforcement. The findings revealed that: (i) the energy distribution for the high-strength concrete cohort predominantly occupied the frequency bands 42, 44, 45, and 47,… More >

Effect of CSH Crystal Nucleus on Steam-Free Cured Fly Ash Precast Concrete Components

Ruyi Luo, Yanyan Hu*, Tingshu He*, Xiaodong Ma, Yongdong Xu

    Journal of Renewable Materials, Vol.11, No.9, pp. 3485-3500, 2023, DOI:10.32604/jrm.2023.027592

Abstract The measures of steam curing and early-strengthening agents to promote the precast components to reach the target strength quickly can bring different degrees of damage to the concrete. Based on this, the new nanomaterial CSH-the hydration product of cement effectively solves these measures’ disadvantages, such as excessive energy consumption, thermal stress damage, and the introduction of external ions. In this paper, the effect of CSH on the early strength of precast fly ash concrete components was investigated in terms of setting time, workability, and mechanical properties and analyzed at the microscopic level using hydration temperature, XRD, and SEM. The results… More >

Shear Behaviors of Steel-Plate Connections for Timber-Concrete Composite Beams with Prefabricated Concrete Slabs

Benkai Shi, Bowen Huang, Huifeng Yang*, Yongqing Dai, Sijian Chen

    Journal of Renewable Materials, Vol.11, No.1, pp. 349-361, 2023, DOI:10.32604/jrm.2023.022343

Abstract To promote the development of timber-concrete composite (TCC) structures, it is necessary to propose the assembly-type connections with high assembly efficiency and shear performances. This article presented the experimental results of the innovative steel-plate connections for TCC beams using prefabricated concrete slabs. The steel-plate connections consisted of the screws and the steel-plates. The steel-plates were partly embedded in the concrete slabs. The concrete slabs and the timber beams were connected by screws through the steel-plates. The parameters researched in this article included screw number, angle steel as the reinforcement for anchoring, and shallow notches on the timber surface to restrict… More >

Analysis of the Thermal Performance of External Insulation in Prefabricated Buildings Using Computational Fluid Dynamics

    Ang Wang1,*, Hui Wang2

    FDMP-Fluid Dynamics & Materials Processing, Vol.18, No.5, pp. 1293-1306, 2022, DOI:10.32604/fdmp.2022.018561

Abstract This paper investigates the thermal performance of prefabricated exterior walls using the Computational Fluid Dynamics method to reduce energy consumption. The thermal performance of the prefabricated exterior wall was numerically simulated using the software ANSYS Fluent. The composite wall containing the cavity is taken as the research object in this paper after analysis. The simulation suggests that when the cavity thickness is 20 mm and 30 mm, the heat transfer coefficient of the air-sandwich wall is 1.3 and 1.29, respectively. Therefore, the optimal width of the cavity is 20 mm, and the most suitable material is the aerated concrete block.… More >

Dynamic Production Scheduling for Prefabricated Components Considering the Demand Fluctuation

    Juan Du1,*, Peng Dong2, Vijayan Sugumaran3

    Intelligent Automation & Soft Computing, Vol.26, No.4, pp. 715-723, 2020, DOI:10.32604/iasc.2020.010105

Abstract A dynamic optimized production scheduling which takes into account demand fluctuation and uncertainty is very critical for the efficient performance of Prefabricated Component Supply Chain. Previous studies consider only the conditions in the production factory and develop corresponding models, ignoring the dynamic demand fluctuation that often occurs at the construction site and its impact on the entire lifecycle of prefabricated construction project. This paper proposes a dynamic flow shop scheduling model for prefabricated components production, which incorporates demand fluctuation such as the advance of due date, insertion of urgent component and order cancellation. An actual prefabrication construction project has been… More >

A Study on the Estimation of Prefabricated Glass Fiber Reinforced Concrete Panel Strength Values with an Artificial Neural Network Model

    S.A. Yıldızel1,2, A.U. Öztürk1

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.52, No.1, pp. 41-52, 2016, DOI:10.3970/cmc.2016.052.041

Abstract In this study, artificial neural networks trained with swarm based artificial bee colony optimization algorithm was implemented for prediction of the modulus of rapture values of the fabricated glass fiber reinforced concrete panels. For the application of the ANN models, 143 different four-point bending test results of glass fiber reinforced concrete mixes with the varied parameters of temperature, fiber content and slump values were introduced the artificial bee colony optimization and conventional back propagation algorithms. Training and the testing results of the corresponding models showed that artificial neural networks trained with the artificial bee colony optimization algorithm have remarkable potential… More >
