    Production of a double-purpose wheat*

Merchán HD, EE Lutz, AE Morant*

    Phyton-International Journal of Experimental Botany, Vol.75, pp. 41-46, 2006, DOI:10.32604/phyton.2006.75.041

Abstract In the mixed systems (beef and grain) of the semiarid Pampa, double purpose wheat use might diminish competition by the soil resource, external inputs into the system and money, which are often associated between winter cereals for grazing and/or grain harvest. In the experimental station of the Asociación de Cooperativas Argentinas in Cabildo (wheat semiarid subregion V S), a trial to evaluate shoot and grain production was conducted. The wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) variety Buck Charrúa, commercially recommended for double purpose use was utilized. Grain production of autumn-sown plots, which were defoliated 0, 1, 2 or 4 times, was compared… More >

Abstract Here we develop a general purpose pre/post conditionerT, to solve an ill-posed system of linear equations,Ax=b. The conditionerTis obtained in the course of the solution of the Laplace equation, through a boundary-collocation Trefftz method, leading to:Ty=x, whereyis the vector of coefficients in the Trefftz expansion, andxis the boundary data at the discrete points on a unit circle. We show that the quality of the conditionerTis greatly enhanced by using multiple characteristic lengths (Multiple Length Scales) in the Trefftz expansion. We further show thatTcan be multiplicatively decomposed into a dilationTDand a rotationTR. For an odd-orderedA, we develop four conditioners based on… More >
