Determination of Reflected Temperature in Active Thermography Measurements for Corrosion Quantification of Reinforced Concrete Elements

Suyadi Kartorono*, Herlien Dwiarti Setio, Adang Surahman, Ediansjah Zulkifli

    Structural Durability & Health Monitoring, Vol.17, No.3, pp. 195-208, 2023, DOI:10.32604/sdhm.2022.023259

Abstract This paper sums up the determining analysis of the measuring location of Trefl using a thermocouple during the thermography tests. Laboratory temperature distribution testing methods, analysis of value and location of Trefl measurement are explained in this paper. The heat source is two halogen lamps of 500 watts each fitted at a distance of 30–50 cm. Noises appearing during testing of thermography are corrected with measured Trefl value. The results of thermogram correction of corroded concrete surfaces using Trefl values are displayed in this paper too. The concrete surface temperature results of quantitative image processing method are compared to the… More >

Importance of Three-Dimensional Piezoelectric Coupling Modeling in Quantitative Analysis of Piezoelectric Actuators

    Daisuke Ishihara1,*, Prakasha Chigahalli Ramegowda2, Shoichi Aikawa1, Naoki Iwamaru1

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.136, No.2, pp. 1187-1206, 2023, DOI:10.32604/cmes.2023.024614

Abstract This paper demonstrates the importance of three-dimensional (3-D) piezoelectric coupling in the electromechanical behavior of piezoelectric devices using three-dimensional finite element analyses based on weak and strong coupling models for a thin cantilevered piezoelectric bimorph actuator. It is found that there is a significant difference between the strong and weak coupling solutions given by coupling direct and inverse piezoelectric effects (i.e., piezoelectric coupling effect). In addition, there is significant longitudinal bending caused by the constraint of the inverse piezoelectric effect in the width direction at the fixed end (i.e., 3-D effect). Hence, modeling of these effects or 3-D piezoelectric coupling… More >

Rapid Analysis of Four Alkaloids in Uncaria rhynchophylla by Core-Shell Column HPLC and Quantitative Analysis of Multi-Components by Single Marker (QAMS)

    Kesheng Lin1,2, Jiawen Zhou1,2, Lijuan Han1,2, Ning Li1,2,*

    Phyton-International Journal of Experimental Botany, Vol.92, No.1, pp. 285-296, 2023, DOI:10.32604/phyton.2022.023219

Abstract As a traditional herbal medicine, the major alkaloids in Uncaria rhynchophylla have been proven to have blood pressure-lowering and sedative effects. It is essential to develop an effective method for the determination of the major alkaloids in U. rhynchophylla. In this research, a rapid quantitative analysis involving multi-components analysis by a single marker strategy coupled with core-shell column HPLC was adopted to analyse four alkaloids (corynoxeine, isocorynoxeine, isorhynchophylline, rhynchophylline) in U. rhynchophylla. Isorhynchophylline was selected as the internal reference substance, the content of which was determined by the traditional external standard method. Relative correction factors (RCF) between isorhynchophylline and the… More >

Mechanical Properties and Evolution of Microstructure of Cement Stabilized Loess

    Kangze Yuan1, Kui Liu1,2,*, Guoyang Yi3, Bowen Yang2

    Journal of Renewable Materials, Vol.10, No.12, pp. 3611-3627, 2022, DOI:10.32604/jrm.2022.022458

Abstract Cement Stabilized Loess (CSL) sample has a long history as a method of improving building foundations. In this paper, the main physical (specific gravity, consistency limit, optimum moisture content, and maximum dry density) and mechanical properties (Unconfined Compressive Strength (UCS) and shear strength parameters) of CSL samples with different cement content were investigated, and the change reasons were explored by mean of SEM test. Meanwhile, quantitative analysis software Image-Pro Plus (IPP) 6.0 was used to characterize the microstructural evolution of pores in compacted loess and CSL sample. As the cement content increased, the specific gravity and optimum water content in… More > Graphic Abstract

Investigation on Energy Characteristic of RBCs Deformability: A Quantitative Analysis of Extending and Retracting Curves Based on AFM

    Dong Chen1, Xiang Wang1,*, Fuzhou Tang2, Yajin Zhao1

    Molecular & Cellular Biomechanics, Vol.16, Suppl.2, pp. 150-150, 2019, DOI:10.32604/mcb.2019.07071

Abstract Deformability is a fundamental property of the cells and tissues of living organisms, which is commonly detected to indicate the state of the cells. And the cell deformability usually depends on the methods that we used, which is easy to be confused. The present research is designed to explore the energy characteristic of red blood cell deformability, based on a quantitative analysis of extending-retracting curves acquired from atomic force microscopy. ATP-depleted red blood cells are prepared by treatment with free-glucose Ringer solution. Our results clearly show that the Youngs’ modulus of erythrocyte is closely depended on the concentration of intracellular… More >

Quantitative Analysis of Crime Incidents in Chicago Using Data Analytics Techniques

    Daniel Rivera Ruiz1,*, Alisha Sawant1

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.59, No.2, pp. 389-396, 2019, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2019.06433

Abstract In this paper we aim to identify certain social factors that influence, and thus can be used to predict, the occurrence of crimes. The factors under consideration for this analytic are social demographics such as age, sex, poverty, etc., train ridership, traffic density and the number of business licenses per community area in Chicago, IL. A factor will be considered pertinent if there is high correlation between it and the number of crimes of a particular type in that community area. More >

Turbulentlike Quantitative Analysis on Energy Dissipation in Vibrated Granular Media

Zhi Yuan Cui1, Jiu Hui Wu1, Di Chen Li1

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.71, No.2, pp. 149-156, 2011, DOI:10.3970/cmes.2011.071.149

Abstract A quantitative rule of the vibrated granular media's energy dissipation is obtained by adopting the turbulence theory in this letter. Our results show that, similar to the power spectrum in fully developed fluid turbulence as described in Kolmogorov's theory, the power spectrum of vibrated granular media also exhibits a k - 5 / 3 (k is the wave number) power which characterizes the local isotropic flow. What's more, the mean energy dissipation rate in vibrated granular media rises with the increase of particle size and volume ratio. The theoretical results in this letter can be verified by the previous experimental… More >

    Guojing Wu1, Chao Zhang1,*, Pingzeng Liu1, Wanming Ren2, Yong Zheng2, Feng Guo1, Xiaowei Chen3, Russell Higgs4

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.58, No.1, pp. 183-195, 2019, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2019.03792

Abstract In order to solve the hidden regional relationship among garlic prices, this paper carries out spatial quantitative analysis of garlic price data based on ArcGIS technology. The specific analysis process is to collect prices of garlic market from 2015 to 2017 in different regions of Shandong Province, using the Moran's Index to obtain monthly Moran indicators are positive, so as to analyze the overall positive relationship between garlic prices; then using the geostatistical analysis tool in ArcGIS to draw a spatial distribution Grid diagram, it was found that the price of garlic has a significant geographical agglomeration phenomenon and showed… More >
