    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.70, No.1, pp. 1955-1974, 2022, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2022.020084

Abstract Biometric applications widely use the face as a component for recognition and automatic detection. Face rotation is a variable component and makes face detection a complex and challenging task with varied angles and rotation. This problem has been investigated, and a novice algorithm, namely RIFDS (Rotation Invariant Face Detection System), has been devised. The objective of the paper is to implement a robust method for face detection taken at various angle. Further to achieve better results than known algorithms for face detection. In RIFDS Polar Harmonic Transforms (PHT) technique is combined with Multi-Block Local Binary Pattern (MBLBP) in a hybrid… More >

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.70, No.1, pp. 1921-1934, 2022, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2022.019798

Abstract This paper introduces an Improved RC6 (IRC6) cipher for data encryption based on data-dependent rotations. The proposed scheme is designed with the potential of meeting the needs of the Advanced Encryption Standard (AES). Four parameters are used to characterize the proposed scheme. These parameters are the size of the word (w) in bits, the number of rounds (r), the length of the secret key (b) in bytes, and the size of the block (L) in bits. The main feature of IRC6 is the variable number of working registers instead of just four registers as in RC6, resulting in a variable… More >

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.70, No.1, pp. 433-450, 2022, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2022.019256

Abstract Mental rotation (MR) is an important aspect of cognitive processing in gaming since transformation and manipulation of visuospatial information are necessary in order to execute a gaming task. This study provides insights on saccadic characteristics in gaming task performance that involves 2D and 3D isomorphic objects with varying angular disparity. Healthy participants (N =60) performed MR gaming task. Each participant was tested individually in an acoustic treated lab environment. Gaze behavior data of all participants were recorded during task execution and analyzed to find the changes in spatiotemporal characteristics of saccades associated with the variation in angular disparity and dimensionality. There… More >

    Nugroho Agung Pambudi1,*, Santiko Wibowo1, Ranto1, Lip Huat Saw2

    Energy Engineering, Vol.118, No.5, pp. 1565-1576, 2021, DOI:10.32604/EE.2021.016642

Abstract Organic Rankine Cycle (ORC) is one of the solutions to utilize a low temperature geothermal fluid for power generation. The ORC system can be placed at the exit of the separator to extract energy from brine. Furthermore, one of the main components of the system and very important is the pump. Therefore, in this research, the pump rotation is examined to investigate the effect on power output and energy efficiency for low temperature geothermal fluid. The rotation is determined by using an inverter with the following frequencies: 7.5, 10, 12.5, 15 and 17.5 Hz, respectively. R-134 working fluid is employed… More >

Rotational Effect on the Propagation of Waves in a Magneto-Micropolar Thermoelastic Medium

    A. M. Abd-Alla1,*, S. M. Abo-Dahab2, M. A. Abdelhafez1, A. M. Farhan3,4

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.69, No.1, pp. 205-220, 2021, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2021.015563

Abstract The present paper aims to explore how the magnetic field, ramp parameter, and rotation affect a generalized micropolar thermoelastic medium that is standardized isotropic within the half-space. By employing normal mode analysis and Lame’s potential theory, the authors could express analytically the components of displacement, stress, couple stress, and temperature field in the physical domain. They calculated such manners of expression numerically and plotted the matching graphs to highlight and make comparisons with theoretical findings. The highlights of the paper cover the impacts of various parameters on the rotating micropolar thermoelastic half-space. Nevertheless, the non-dimensional temperature is not affected by… More >

Analysis of the Flow Field Characteristics Associated with the Dynamic Rock Breaking Process Induced by a Multi-Hole Combined External Rotary Bit

    Quanbin Ba1,2, Yanbao Liu1,2,*, Zhigang Zhang1,2, Wei Xiong1,2, Kai Shen1,2

    FDMP-Fluid Dynamics & Materials Processing, Vol.17, No.4, pp. 697-710, 2021, DOI:10.32604/fdmp.2021.014762

Abstract The characteristics of the flow field associated with a multi-hole combined external rotary bit have been studied by means of numerical simulation in the framework of an RNG k-ε turbulence model, and compared with the results of dedicated rock breaking drilling experiments. The numerical results show that the nozzle velocity and dynamic pressure of the nozzle decrease with an increase in the jet distance, and the axial velocity of the nozzle decays regularly with an increase in the dimensionless jet distance. Moreover, the axial velocity related to the nozzle with inclination angle 20° and 30° can produce a higher hole… More >

A Secure Rotation Invariant LBP Feature Computation in Cloud Environment

    Shiqi Wang1, Mingfang Jiang2,*, Jiaohua Qin1, Hengfu Yang2, Zhichen Gao3

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.68, No.3, pp. 2979-2993, 2021, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2021.017094

Abstract In the era of big data, outsourcing massive data to a remote cloud server is a promising approach. Outsourcing storage and computation services can reduce storage costs and computational burdens. However, public cloud storage brings about new privacy and security concerns since the cloud servers can be shared by multiple users. Privacy-preserving feature extraction techniques are an effective solution to this issue. Because the Rotation Invariant Local Binary Pattern (RILBP) has been widely used in various image processing fields, we propose a new privacy-preserving outsourcing computation of RILBP over encrypted images in this paper (called PPRILBP). To protect image content,… More >

Abstract This article is aimed at describing the way rotation and magnetic field affect the propagation of waves in an infinite poroelastic cylindrical bone. It offers a solution with an exact closed form. The authors got and examined numerically the general frequency equation for poroelastic bone. Moreover, they calculated the frequencies of poroelastic bone for different values of the magnetic field and rotation. Unlike the results of previous studies, the authors noticed little frequency dispersion in the wet bone. The proposed model will be applicable to wide-range parametric projects of bone mechanical response. Examining the vibration of surface waves in rotating… More >

    Suxia Li1,2, Haiyang Zhang1,*, Biqing Shu1,3, Liangsong Cheng1, Zehui Ju1, Xiaoning Lu1,*

    Journal of Renewable Materials, Vol.9, No.7, pp. 1225-1237, 2021, DOI:10.32604/jrm.2021.014364

Abstract The wood friction welding technique with its high bonding strength, low cost, high efficiency, and without any adhesive has been increasing concern in China. Moso bamboo (Phyllostachys pubescens) and poplar (Populus sp.) are widely planted and used in the furniture industry, interior decoration, and wood structure construction in China. The aim of this work was to investigate the bonding performance of moso bamboo dowel rotation welded joints with different dowel/receiving hole diameter ratios. The results indicated that the ratio of dowel/receiving hole diameter was an important parameter that influenced the welding performance. The bonding strength of the bamboo-to-poplar welded joints… More >
