    Effect of Stacking Sequences on the Mechanical and Damping Properties of Flax Glass Fiber Hybrid

    Abstract The aim of this study is to show the interest of the mechanical and dynamical properties of glass-flax hybrid composites. Therefore, various staking sequences of glass-flax hybrid composites were manufactured and tested in free vibrations. The damping coefficients were identified by fitting the experimental responses of free-free bending vibrations. The obtained results show that the staking sequences and the position of flax fiber layers in the hybrid composites changed the properties, so a classification of different stacking sequences was established.     Identification and evolutionary relationships of partial gene sequences from dehydrin group in three species of cacti

    Abstract Dehydrins or Group 2 Late Embryogenesis Abundant (LEA) proteins play an important role in the response and adaptation to different types of abiotic stresses such as droughts, high salinity and low temperatures. Using PCR techniques, we identified three gene fragments that encoded dehydrin-like proteins in three cactispecies Opuntia ficus-indica (OpfiDHN-like), Leuchtenbergia principis (LepDHN-like) and Mammillaria bombycina (MabDHN-like). Bioinformatic sequence analysis showed an identity between 96 and 97% with the Opuntia streptacantha dehydrin 1 (OpsDHN1) gene, demonstrating that the amplified fragments corresponded to dehydrin-like gene sequences, and that the designed oligonucleotides were effective for similar gene amplification in different cacti… More >

For the nine chondriogenes encoding complex I subunits (nad1, nad2, nad3, nad4, nad4L, nad5, nad6, nad7, and nad9), an efficient strategy for the cloning of complete coding sequences (CDSs) is important.     A New Theory of Strain Hardening and its Consequences for Yield Stress and Failure Stress

    Abstract A new theory of strain hardening is developed. Important in its own right, the strain hardening solution is also of decisive use in rigorously defining the historically broad concepts of yield stress and failure stress. Under ideal conditions yield stress is found to represent a 3rd order transition.     Abstract Bacterial artificial chromosome - fluorescence in situ hybridization (BAC-FISH) and cyclingprimed in situ labeling (C-PRINS) techniques were evaluated for integration of physical and genetic maps of sunflower (Helianthus annuus L.). Single-site SSR markers were selected from three linkage groups of a high-density sunflower genetic map. This selection was based on previously identified QTL associated to S. sclerotiorum. These markers were used to select BACs contaning single copy sequences for BAC-FISH aplication.     Abstract This work addresses the problem of tracking feature points along image sequences. In order to analyze the undergoing movement, an approach based on the Kalman filtering technique has been used, which basically carries out the estimation and correction of the features' movement in every image frame.
