    Medhat A. Tawfeek1,2,*, Saad Alanazi1, A. A. Abd El-Aziz3,4

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.72, No.3, pp. 6091-6106, 2022, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2022.028391

Abstract The alignment operation between many protein sequences or DNA sequences related to the scientific bioinformatics application is very complex. There is a trade-off in the objectives in the existing techniques of Multiple Sequence Alignment (MSA). The techniques that concern with speed ignore accuracy, whereas techniques that concern with accuracy ignore speed. The term alignment means to get the similarity in different sequences with high accuracy. The more growing number of sequences leads to a very complex and complicated problem. Because of the emergence; rapid development; and dependence on gene sequencing, sequence alignment has become important in every biological relationship analysis… More >

Abstract Lonicerae Flos (LF) derived from the dried flower buds or opening flowers of four Lonicera plants (Lonicera macranthoides, L. hypoglauca, L. confusa, and L. fulvotnetosa), is a popular traditional Chinese medicine. Because the four origin plants are very similar in morphology, it is difficult to control the quality of LF in actual production. Over the past decade, many reports have pointed out the differences among them, including the botanical characteristics and active ingredients. However, there is still a lack of rapid methods that can be applied to the identification of the four origins. In this study, comparative analysis of the… More >

    Intelligent Automation & Soft Computing, Vol.32, No.3, pp. 1427-1444, 2022, DOI:10.32604/iasc.2022.017304

Abstract In existing meta-heuristic algorithms, population initialization forms a huge part towards problem optimization. These calculations can impact variety and combination to locate a productive ideal arrangement. Especially, for perceiving the significance of variety and intermingling, different specialists have attempted to improve the presentation of meta-heuristic algorithms. Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) algorithm is a populace-based, shrewd stochastic inquiry strategy that is motivated by the inherent honey bee swarm food search mechanism. Population initialization is an indispensable factor in the PSO algorithm. To improve the variety and combination factors, rather than applying the irregular circulation for the introduction of the populace, semi-arbitrary… More >

Abstract The essential purpose of radar is to detect a target of interest and provide information concerning the target's location, motion, size, and other parameters. The knowledge about the pulse trains’ properties shows that a class of signals is mainly well suited to digital processing of increasing practical importance. A low autocorrelation binary sequence (LABS) is a complex combinatorial problem. The main problems of LABS are low Merit Factor (MF) and shorter length sequences. Besides, the maximum possible MF equals 12.3248 as infinity length is unable to be achieved. Therefore, this study implemented two techniques to propose a new metaheuristic algorithm… More >

    Peng Wan1, Ting Wen2,*, Yunfei Zhang3, Hong Gao1, Jigan Wang1

    International Journal of Mental Health Promotion, Vol.23, No.2, pp. 201-219, 2021, DOI:10.32604/IJMHP.2021.015759

Abstract Goal self-concordance reflects self-generated personal goals aligning with people’s interests and core values in one’s implicit personality as organic components, which is measured by the “perceived locus of causality” PLOC. Pursuing and achieving self-concordant goals both predict diversified outcomes in need-satisfaction, mental and physical well-being, positive attitude and behavior, etc. Based on expounding and sorting out the concept and measurement about goal self-concordance, the author analyzes the differences among a series of goal self-concordance theories. This paper focuses on the latest research trends and summarizes five influencing aspects of goal self-concordance: mental health, cognition, emotion, personal will, and behavioral outcomes.… More >

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.68, No.2, pp. 2693-2709, 2021, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2021.016871

Abstract Recognition of human gait is a difficult assignment, particularly for unobtrusive surveillance in a video and human identification from a large distance. Therefore, a method is proposed for the classification and recognition of different types of human gait. The proposed approach is consisting of two phases. In phase I, the new model is proposed named convolutional bidirectional long short-term memory (Conv-BiLSTM) to classify the video frames of human gait. In this model, features are derived through convolutional neural network (CNN) named ResNet-18 and supplied as an input to the LSTM model that provided more distinguishable temporal information. In phase II,… More >

When to Operate and What Are the Consequences of a Surgical Resection of a Neuroendrocine Tumour in the Pancreas or Small Bowel

    E. Hain, J. Gharios, R. Sindayigaya, S. Gaujoux

    Oncologie, Vol.21, No.2, pp. 91-96, 2019, DOI:10.3166/onco-2019-0048

Abstract Neuroendocrine tumors (NET) are rare and can occur in all parts of the digestive tract. They can be functional or non-functional. All patients presenting NET should be discussed for the surgical management within the RENATEN tumor board. For sporadic pancreatic NET, surgery is recommended for non-functional lesion >2 cm in size and/or associated with ductal dilatation. For non-aggressive tumor, parenchyma-sparing surgery should be preferred to avoid exocrine and endocrine pancreatic insufficiency. For small bowel NET, surgery must always be considered to avoid complications such as small bowel obstruction. Lymphadenectomy must include at least 8 noded. Surgery must avoid short bowel… More >

    Jia Yang1, Haiyuan Liu1,*, Hao He2

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.125, No.1, pp. 111-123, 2020, DOI:10.32604/cmes.2020.010347

Abstract The prediction of intrinsically disordered proteins is a hot research area in bio-information. Due to the high cost of experimental methods to evaluate disordered regions of protein sequences, it is becoming increasingly important to predict those regions through computational methods. In this paper, we developed a novel scheme by employing sequence complexity to calculate six features for each residue of a protein sequence, which includes the Shannon entropy, the topological entropy, the sample entropy and three amino acid preferences including Remark 465, Deleage/Roux, and Bfactor(2STD). Particularly, we introduced the sample entropy for calculating time series complexity by mapping the amino… More >
