Efficient Image Deraining through a Stage-Wise Dual-Residual Network with Cross-Dimensional Spatial Attention

    Tiantian Wang1,2, Zhihua Hu3,*

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.145, No.2, pp. 2357-2381, 2025, DOI:10.32604/cmes.2025.073640 - 26 November 2025

Abstract Rain streaks introduced by atmospheric precipitation significantly degrade image quality and impair the reliability of high-level vision tasks. We present a novel image deraining framework built on a three-stage dual-residual architecture that progressively restores rain-degraded content while preserving fine structural details. Each stage begins with a multi-scale feature extractor and a channel attention module that adaptively emphasizes informative representations for rain removal. The core restoration is achieved via enhanced dual-residual blocks, which stabilize training and mitigate feature degradation across layers. To further refine representations, we integrate cross-dimensional spatial attention supervised by ground-truth guidance, ensuring that More >

Abstract Recently, ship detection technology has been applied extensively in the marine security monitoring field. However, achieving accurate marine ship detection still poses significant challenges due to factors such as varying scales, slightly occluded objects, uneven illumination, and sea clutter. To address these issues, we propose a novel ship detection approach, i.e., the Twin Feature Pyramid Network and Data Augmentation (TFPN-DA), which mainly consists of three modules. First, to eliminate the negative effects of slightly occluded objects and uneven illumination, we propose the Spatial Attention within the Twin Feature Pyramid Network (SA-TFPN) method, which is based More >

    Chunwei Tian1,2,3,4, Haoyang Gao2,3, Pengwei Wang2, Bob Zhang1,*

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.80, No.1, pp. 105-118, 2024, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2024.052097 - 18 July 2024

Abstract Generative adversarial networks (GANs) with gaming abilities have been widely applied in image generation. However, gamistic generators and discriminators may reduce the robustness of the obtained GANs in image generation under varying scenes. Enhancing the relation of hierarchical information in a generation network and enlarging differences of different network architectures can facilitate more structural information to improve the generation effect for image generation. In this paper, we propose an enhanced GAN via improving a generator for image generation (EIGGAN). EIGGAN applies a spatial attention to a generator to extract salient information to enhance the truthfulness… More >

    Yin Ni1, Wu Zeng2,*, Peng Xia1, Guang Stanley Yang3, Ruochen Tan4

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.79, No.3, pp. 5295-5312, 2024, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2024.049911 - 20 June 2024

Abstract Deepfake-generated fake faces, commonly utilized in identity-related activities such as political propaganda, celebrity impersonations, evidence forgery, and familiar fraud, pose new societal threats. Although current deepfake generators strive for high realism in visual effects, they do not replicate biometric signals indicative of cardiac activity. Addressing this gap, many researchers have developed detection methods focusing on biometric characteristics. These methods utilize classification networks to analyze both temporal and spectral domain features of the remote photoplethysmography (rPPG) signal, resulting in high detection accuracy. However, in the spectral analysis, existing approaches often only consider the power spectral density… More >

An Industrial Intrusion Detection Method Based on Hybrid Convolutional Neural Networks with Improved TCN

Zhihua Liu, Shengquan Liu*, Jian Zhang

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.78, No.1, pp. 411-433, 2024, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2023.046237 - 30 January 2024

Abstract Network intrusion detection systems (NIDS) based on deep learning have continued to make significant advances. However, the following challenges remain: on the one hand, simply applying only Temporal Convolutional Networks (TCNs) can lead to models that ignore the impact of network traffic features at different scales on the detection performance. On the other hand, some intrusion detection methods consider multi-scale information of traffic data, but considering only forward network traffic information can lead to deficiencies in capturing multi-scale temporal features. To address both of these issues, we propose a hybrid Convolutional Neural Network that supports… More >
