    Libardo V. Vanegas-Useche1,4, Magd M. Abdel-Wahab2,3,*, Graham A. Parker5

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.121, No.1, pp. 23-47, 2019, DOI:10.32604/cmes.2019.06481

Abstract Road sweeping is an essential service that has to be conducted for public health, as well as aesthetic purposes. In many countries, sweeping vehicles are used for this activity. They usually comprise a gutter brush that sweeps the debris that is located in the road gutter. This work studies the performance of two kinds of gutter brushes: a cutting brush and a flicking (F128) brush. This is carried out by means of a 3-D dynamic, nonlinear Finite Element (FE) brush model developed by the authors. In this model, inertia forces are applied to the bristle, and its clamped end is… More >

Shijie Jiang*, Song Yang, Bohong Zhang, Bangchun Wen

    Sound & Vibration, Vol.53, No.4, pp. 129-138, 2019, DOI:10.32604/sv.2019.04048

Abstract Aerodynamic noise is the dominant noise source of the high-speed train. It not only seriously affects the passenger comfort and people’s normal life along the railway line, but also may cause fatigue damage to the surrounding equipment and buildings. This manuscript carried out the simulation and experimental study on the external aerodynamic noise of high-speed train, in order to increase the understanding of the noise and hence to be better able to control it. The on-line tests were performed to verify that it is reasonable to simplify the high-speed train model. The turbulent air flow model was then developed, and… More >

    Haijian Shao1, 2, Xing Deng1, 2, *

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.114, No.3, pp. 277-293, 2018, DOI:10.3970/cmes.2018.114.277

Abstract High accurary in wind speed forcasting remains hard to achieve due to wind’s random distribution nature and its seasonal characteristics. Randomness, intermittent and nonstationary usually cause the portion problem of the wind speed forecasting. Seasonal characteristics of wind speed means that its feature distribution is inconsistent. This typically results that the persistence of excitation for modeling can not be guaranteed, and may severely reduce the possibilities of high precise forecasting model. In this paper, we proposed two effective solutions to solve the problems caused by the randomness and seasonal characteristics of the wind speed. (1) Wavelet analysis is used to… More >

Zeng Xiangfu, Ma Shaopeng, Ma Qinwei, Chen Pengwan

The International Conference on Computational & Experimental Engineering and Sciences, Vol.17, No.4, pp. 111-112, 2011, DOI:10.3970/icces.2011.017.111

Abstract In order to measure the attitude parameters of the projectile, a high-speed 3-dimensional digital image correlation (H3D-DIC) system is designed and constructed. In the H3D-DIC system, two high-speed cameras are used to capture the images of the projectile from two different directions and the 3-dimensional coordinates of the markers painted on projectile are obtained by processing the images using stereovision techniques. Because of the difference on the resolution of the two cameras, the images captured are with different magnification. Therefore, a new correlation program, in which the parameter of pixel size is also included in the correlation schedule, is designed… More >

Xue Feng*, Xiang Wang, Guobing Zhang, Huimin Xie, Helong Yu

The International Conference on Computational & Experimental Engineering and Sciences, Vol.20, No.4, pp. 115-116, 2011, DOI:10.3970/icces.2011.020.115

Abstract Most ceramic materials, because of their inherent brittleness, are susceptible to catastrophic failure under conditions of thermal shock. A novel method for measuring the dynamical deformation is proposed by using of high speed digital image correlation in high temperature environment. The nature texture of ceramic materials can be used as speckle while filters and monochrome produced by LED are applied to suppress black-body radiation and enhance the luminous intensity.

The light from the heated material can alter the Grayscale of material surface and the recognition for material surface will become more and more difficult with the temperature increase. In… More >

The International Conference on Computational & Experimental Engineering and Sciences, Vol.19, No.2, pp. 41-42, 2011, DOI:10.3970/icces.2011.019.041

Abstract High speed spindle is the key component for high precision machine center. The optimum design of spindle cooling system have to achieve to avoid the high heat produce by the build-in motor that can make great damage to the spindle bearing systems. This paper presents a new solid-fluid coupling computing method for design high speed spindle cooling system. Energy equation has been formed for a control volume within the cooling channel to describe the heat absorbing by the coolant moving in a constant speed. Finite different method is applied to solve temperature rising in the coolant and coupled with a… More >

The International Conference on Computational & Experimental Engineering and Sciences, Vol.1, No.3, pp. 127-132, 2007, DOI:10.3970/icces.2007.001.127

Abstract In this study, numerical simulations of mixed-mode fracture paths in dynamic fracture phenomenon are carried out by using moving finite element method based on Delaunay automatic mesh generation. In addition, the experiments under same condition was carried out, and the both results were compared. The calculated paths by the simulation agree well with the fracture paths of the experiments. T. Nishioka1, M.Kogame2, T. Fujimoto1, G. Okamoto1

The International Conference on Computational & Experimental Engineering and Sciences, Vol.1, No.3, pp. 113-118, 2007, DOI:10.3970/icces.2007.001.113

Abstract In this study, we observed C.G.S. fringe pattern of dynamic fracture under impact load by an ultra high-speed CCD video camera, and stress intensity factors KI, KII are evaluated from the experimental measurements. From the evaluation of stress intensity factors, local mode I condition is observed during crack propagation. On the other hand, concentrated load is obtained by the experimental devices in this study. We suggest the least square method to estimate loading value based on the C.G.S. fringe pattern analyses. Multi-Scale Variation Prediction of PM2.5 Concentration Based on a Monte Carlo Method

    Chen Ding1, Guizhi Wang1,*, Qi Liu2

    Journal on Big Data, Vol.1, No.2, pp. 55-69, 2019, DOI:10.32604/jbd.2019.06110

Abstract Haze concentration prediction, especially PM2.5, has always been a significant focus of air quality research, which is necessary to start a deep study. Aimed at predicting the monthly average concentration of PM2.5 in Beijing, a novel method based on Monte Carlo model is conducted. In order to fully exploit the value of PM2.5 data, we take logarithmic processing of the original PM2.5 data and propose two different scales of the daily concentration and the daily chain development speed of PM2.5 respectively. The results show that these data are both approximately normal distribution. On the basis of the results, a Monte… More >

    Journal of Quantum Computing, Vol.1, No.2, pp. 111-118, 2019, DOI:10.32604/jqc.2019.07412

Abstract Suppose a practical scene that when two or more parties want to schedule an appointment, they need to share their calendars with each other in order to make it possible. According to the present result the whole communication cost to solve this problem should be their calendars’ length by using a classical algorithm. In this work, we investigate the appointment schedule issue made by N users and try to accomplish it in quantum information case. Our study shows that the total communication cost will be quadratic times smaller than the conventional case if we apply a quantum algorithm in the… More >
