    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.73, No.2, pp. 3595-3611, 2022, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2022.030733

Abstract This paper presents a novel Simulink models with an evaluation study of more widely used On-Line Maximum Power Point tracking (MPPT) techniques for Photo-Voltaic based Battery Storage Systems (PV-BSS). To have a full comparative study in terms of the dynamic response, battery state of charge (SOC), and oscillations around the Maximum Power Point (MPP) of the PV-BSS to variations in climate conditions, these techniques are simulated in Matlab/Simulink. The introduced methodologies are classified into two types; the first type is conventional hill-climbing techniques which are based on instantaneous PV data measurements such as Perturb & Observe and Incremental Conductance techniques.… More >

Enhanced Distributed Storage System Using Lower Triangular Matrix-Luby Transform Codes

Joe Louis Paul Ignatius*, Sasirekha Selvakumar

    Intelligent Automation & Soft Computing, Vol.33, No.3, pp. 1941-1959, 2022, DOI:10.32604/iasc.2022.024173

Abstract In today’s digital environment, large volume of digital data is created daily and this data accumulates to unforeseen levels. Industries are finding it increasingly difficult to store data in an effective and trustworthy manner. Distributed storage appears to be the greatest approach for meeting current data storage demands at the moment. Furthermore, due to disc crashes or failures, efficient data recovery is becoming an issue. At present, new data storage techniques are required in order to restore data effectively even if some discs or servers are crashed. Hence, this proposed work aims to improve the storage efficiency and reliability in… More >

Multifunction Battery Energy Storage System for Distribution Networks

    Omar H. Abdalla1,*, Gamal Abdel-Salam2, Azza A. A. Mostafa3

    Energy Engineering, Vol.119, No.2, pp. 569-589, 2022, DOI:10.32604/ee.2022.018693

Abstract Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) is one of the potential solutions to increase energy system flexibility, as BESS is well suited to solve many challenges in transmission and distribution networks. Examples of distribution network’s challenges, which affect network performance, are: (i) Load disconnection or technical constraints violation, which may happen during reconfiguration after fault, (ii) Unpredictable power generation change due to Photovoltaic (PV) penetration, (iii) Undesirable PV reverse power, and (iv) Low Load Factor (LF) which may affect electricity price. In this paper, the BESS is used to support distribution networks in reconfiguration after a fault, increasing Photovoltaic (PV) penetration,… More >

Towards Realistic Vibration Testing of Large Floor Batteries for Battery Electric Vehicles (BEV)

    Benedikt Plaumann*

    Sound & Vibration, Vol.56, No.1, pp. 1-19, 2022, DOI:10.32604/sv.2022.018634

Abstract This contribution shows an analysis of vibration measurement on large floor-mounted traction batteries of Battery Electric Vehicles (BEV). The focus lies on the requirements for a realistic replication of the mechanical environments in a testing laboratory. Especially the analysis on global bending transfer functions and local corner bending coherence indicate that neither a fully stiff fixation of the battery nor a completely independent movement on the four corners yields a realistic and conservative test scenario. The contribution will further show what implication these findings have on future vibration & shock testing equipment for large traction batteries. Additionally, it will cover… More >

Integration of Renewable Energy Sources into the Smart Grid Using Enhanced SCA

    Shaik Karimulla, K. Ravi*

    Intelligent Automation & Soft Computing, Vol.32, No.3, pp. 1557-1572, 2022, DOI:10.32604/iasc.2022.022953

Abstract The usage of energy in everyday life is growing day by day as a result of the rapid growth in the human population. One solution is to increase electricity generation to the same extent as the human population, but this is usually practically impossible. As the population is increasing, the need for electrical usage is also increasing. Therefore, smart grids play an important role in making efficient use of existing energy sources like solar, wind and battery storage systems. By managing demand, the minimization of power consumption and its consequent costs. On the load side, residential and commercial types use… More >

NVM Storage in IoT Devices: Opportunities and Challenges

    Yang Liu1, Shan Zhao1,*, Wenhan Chen1, Xuran Ge1, Fang Liu2, Shuo Li3, Nong Xiao1

    Computer Systems Science and Engineering, Vol.38, No.3, pp. 393-409, 2021, DOI:10.32604/csse.2021.017224

Abstract Edge storage stores the data directly at the data collection point, and does not need to transmit the collected data to the storage central server through the network. It is a critical technology that supports applications such as edge computing and 5G network applications, with lower network communication overhead, lower interaction delay and lower bandwidth cost. However, with the explosion of data and higher real-time requirements, the traditional Internet of Things (IoT) storage architecture cannot meet the requirements of low latency and large capacity. Non-volatile memory (NVM) presents new possibilities regarding this aspect. This paper classifies the different storage architectures… More >
