On-Street Parking Space Detection Using YOLO Models and Recommendations Based on KD-Tree Suitability Search

Ibrahim Yahaya Garta, William Eric Manongga, Su-Wen Huang, Rung-Ching Chen*

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.85, No.3, pp. 4457-4471, 2025, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2025.067149 - 23 October 2025

Abstract Unlike the detection of marked on-street parking spaces, detecting unmarked spaces poses significant challenges due to the absence of clear physical demarcation and uneven gaps caused by irregular parking. In urban cities with heavy traffic flow, these challenges can result in traffic disruptions, rear-end collisions, sideswipes, and congestion as drivers struggle to make decisions. We propose a real-time detection system for on-street parking spaces using YOLO models and recommend the most suitable space based on KD-tree search. Lightweight versions of YOLOv5, YOLOv7-tiny, and YOLOv8 with different architectures are trained. Among the models, YOLOv5s with SPPF… More >

Development of a Comprehensive Ground Suitability Index for Building Construction: A Case Study

    Jerome Gacu1,2,3,*, John Angelo Venus1, Cleo Faith Forio1, Leo Banay1, Eljay Soledad1, Anabeth Famini1, April Rose Fajiculay1, Aprille Ann Sim1, Jason Rufon1

    Revue Internationale de Géomatique, Vol.34, pp. 235-257, 2025, DOI:10.32604/rig.2025.063512 - 25 April 2025

Abstract The rapid urbanization of rural areas often leads to the construction of medium to high-rise buildings without adequate knowledge of ground suitability, posing significant risks to structural safety and long-term development. This study addresses this critical issue by developing a Comprehensive Ground Suitability Index (CGSI) framework tailored for rural municipalities. Using Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and the Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP), the CGSI integrates geophysical, geo-environmental, and geohazard parameters to systematically evaluate land suitability for construction. Data were collected from government agencies, previous studies, and field surveys focusing on the Municipality of Odiongan, Romblon. Parameters… More >

Group Decision-Making Based on GIS and MultiCriteria Analysis for Assessing Land Suitability for Agriculture

Abdelkader Mendas*, Abdellah Mebrek, Zohra Mekranfar

    Revue Internationale de Géomatique, Vol.33, pp. 383-398, 2024, DOI:10.32604/rig.2024.055321 - 25 September 2024

Abstract The main purpose of this work is to propose a methodology that considers the multicriteria and multi-actor aspects for assessing land suitability for agriculture. This involves offering a group spatial decision-making approach. The members of a multidisciplinary team can decide on the relative importance of the criteria and the ranking of alternatives. Each member provides his judgment and contributes in a distinct and identifiable manner to find a compromise solution. Twelve criteria (easily available water reserve, cation exchange capacity, electric conductivity, potential of hydrogen (pH), drainage, permeability, active limestone, soil texture, soil useful depth, slopes,… More >

Abdel Aziz Osséni1, Gbodja Houéhanou François Gbesso1,*, Sedami Igor Armand Yevide2, Etienne Romaric Adéwalé Godonou1

    Revue Internationale de Géomatique, Vol.33, pp. 201-220, 2024, DOI:10.32604/rig.2024.053500 - 11 July 2024

Abstract Urban green areas play a vital role in enhancing the social balance, resilience, and environmental sustainability of urban settings. In Benin, while the landscaping sector is expanding, finding appropriate locations for creating green spaces remains a challenge. The purpose of this study was to identify areas conducive to the incorporation of green landscapes into urban planning within the Sèmè-Podji District. The approach used involved a multi-criteria analysis leveraging a combined GIS and Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) framework. Six key factors were considered: land use, elevation, slope, distance to major roads, proximity to urban hubs, and… More > Graphic Abstract

Suitability and Sustainability of Rainwater Quality Monitoring System in Cistern for Domestic Use

    Kenedy A. Greyson*

    Journal on Internet of Things, Vol.5, pp. 1-11, 2023, DOI:10.32604/jiot.2023.040255 - 14 September 2023

Abstract Rainwater harvesting (RWH) systems have been the source of domestic water for many years and still becoming essential in many communities of developing countries. However, due to various reasons, there are several sources of contamination in the rainwater cistern systems. Dissolved chemicals from the roofing, storage, and conveyance materials, together with the suspended particulate matter from the airborne, are examples of water contamination. In this work, the water quality monitoring system has been designed and implemented. Chemical and physical parameters of water samples were collected from three locations using a data acquisition (DAQ) system and More >

Numerical Study on the Suitability of Passive Solar Heating Technology Based on Differentiated Thermal Comfort Demand

Xiaona Fan, Qin Zhao, Guochen Sang, Yiyun Zhu*

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.132, No.2, pp. 627-660, 2022, DOI:10.32604/cmes.2022.020507 - 15 June 2022

Abstract Indoor thermal comfort and passive solar heating technologies have been extensively studied. However, few studies have explored the suitability of passive solar heating technologies based on differentiated thermal comfort demands. This work took the rural dwellings in Northwest China as the research object. First, the current indoor and outdoor thermal environment in winter and the mechanism of residents’ differentiated demand for indoor thermal comfort were obtained through tests, questionnaires, and statistical analysis. Second, a comprehensive passive optimized design of existing buildings was conducted, and the validity of the optimized combination scheme was explored using DesignBuilder… More >
