Time Synchronized Velocity Error for Trajectory Compression

    Haibao Jiang1, Dezhi Han1,*, Han Liu1, Jiuzhang Han1 and Wenjing Nie2

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.130, No.2, pp. 1193-1219, 2022, DOI:10.32604/cmes.2022.017663

Abstract Nowadays, distance is usually used to evaluate the error of trajectory compression. These methods can effectively indicate the level of geometric similarity between the compressed and the raw trajectory, but it ignores the velocity error in the compression. To fill the gap of these methods, assuming the velocity changes linearly, a mathematical model called SVE (Time Synchronized Velocity Error) for evaluating compression error is designed, which can evaluate the velocity error effectively, conveniently and accurately. Based on this model, an innovative algorithm called SW-MSVE (Minimum Time Synchronized Velocity Error Based on Sliding Window) is proposed, which can minimize the velocity… More >

Empathic Responses of Behavioral-Synchronization in Human-Agent Interaction

    Sung Park1,*, Seongeon Park2, Mincheol Whang2

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.71, No.2, pp. 3761-3784, 2022, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2022.023738

Abstract Artificial entities, such as virtual agents, have become more pervasive. Their long-term presence among humans requires the virtual agent's ability to express appropriate emotions to elicit the necessary empathy from the users. Affective empathy involves behavioral mimicry, a synchronized co-movement between dyadic pairs. However, the characteristics of such synchrony between humans and virtual agents remain unclear in empathic interactions. Our study evaluates the participant's behavioral synchronization when a virtual agent exhibits an emotional expression congruent with the emotional context through facial expressions, behavioral gestures, and voice. Participants viewed an emotion-eliciting video stimulus (negative or positive) with a virtual agent. The… More >

    Computer Systems Science and Engineering, Vol.41, No.2, pp. 625-644, 2022, DOI:10.32604/csse.2022.020799

Abstract The healthcare IoT system is considered to be a significant and modern medical system. There is broad consensus that these systems will play a vital role in the achievement of economic growth in numerous growth countries. Among the major challenges preventing the fast and widespread adoption of such systems is the failure to maintain the data privacy of patients and the integrity of remote clinical diagnostics. Recently, the author proposed an end-to-end authentication scheme for healthcare IoT systems (E2EA), to provide a mutual authentication with a high data rate between the communication nodes of the healthcare IoT systems. Although the… More >

    Nauman Khan1,2, Rosli Bin Salleh1,*, Ihsan Ali1, Zahid Khan3, Noman Mazhar1, Roobaea Alroobaea4, Fahad Almansour5, Usman Ali1

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.69, No.1, pp. 945-965, 2021, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2021.017394

Abstract Software-defined networking (SDN) makes network agile and flexible due to its programmable approach. An extensive network has multiple domains in SDN for the scalability and performance of the network. However, the inter-domain link is also crucial for the stability of the entire network on the data plane layer. More than one inter-domain connection enhances the scalability of the data plane layer. However, it faces a reachability problem with the principal root, which causes forwarding loops and packet drops in the network, thereby degrading network performance. The proposed solution is a multiple controller architecture; however, this approach increases the complexity and… More >

Jadranka Separovic Hanzevacki1, Marija Brestovac1,*, Vlatka Reskovic Luksic1, Blanka Glavas Konja1, Martina Lovric Bencic1, Josko Bulum1, Darko Anic2

    Congenital Heart Disease, Vol.16, No.5, pp. 469-475, 2021, DOI:10.32604/CHD.2021.015237

Abstract Patients with complete transposition of the great arteries (TGA) treated by the Senning procedure have a higher risk of developing heart failure due to: a) additional work load of the systemic (morphologic right) ventricle (sRV), b) arrhythmias, mainly caused by surgical implications at the atria as well as c) worsening of systemic tricuspid regurgitation. We present a unique case of a female patient who developed all these complications, who was successfully treated and was able to carry out a twin pregnancy. This breakthrough approach was based on: 1. detecting reversibility potential of myocardial systolic dysfunction in a severe valvular lesion… More >

    Abdulsattar Abdullah Hamad1, Ahmed S. Al-Obeidi2, Enas H. Al-Taiy2, Osamah Ibrahim Khalaf3, Dac-Nhuong Le4,5,*

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.66, No.3, pp. 3311-3327, 2021, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2021.013395

Abstract Synchronization is one of the most important characteristics of dynamic systems. For this paper, the authors obtained results for the nonlinear systems controller for the custom Synchronization of two 4D systems. The findings have allowed authors to develop two analytical approaches using the second Lyapunov (Lyp) method and the Gardano method. Since the Gardano method does not involve the development of special positive Lyp functions, it is very efficient and convenient to achieve excessive system SYCR phenomena. Error is overcome by using Gardano and overcoming some problems in Lyp. Thus we get a great investigation into the convergence of error… More >

Ventricular force‐frequency relationships during biventricular or multisite pacing in congenital heart disease

Shankar Baskar, Andrew N. Redington, Philip R. Khoury, Timothy K. Knilans, David S. Spar, Richard J. Czosek

    Congenital Heart Disease, Vol.14, No.2, pp. 201-206, 2019, DOI:10.1111/chd.12684

Abstract Background: Traditional indices to evaluate biventricular (BiV) pacing are load dependent, fail to assess dynamic changes, and may not be appropriate in patients with congenital heart disease (CHD). We therefore measured the force‐frequency relationship (FFR) using tissue Doppler‐de‐ rived isovolumic acceleration (IVA) to assess the dynamic adaption of the myocardium and its vari‐ ability with different ventricular pacing strategies.
Methods: This was a prospective pilot study of pediatric and young adult CHD patients with biventricular or multisite pacing systems. Color‐coded myocardial velocities were recorded at the base of the systemic ventricular free wall. IVA was calculated at resting heart rate… More >

Complexity Effective Frequency and Sidelink Synchronization Algorithm for LTE Device-to-Device Communication Systems

    Yong-An Jung1, Min-Goo Kang2, Young-Hwan You1, *

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.62, No.1, pp. 443-458, 2020, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2020.08777

Abstract Device-to-device (D2D) communication is considered as a major challenge in the long term evolution (LTE) network wherein devices directly communicate with each other. One of the key challenges in D2D sidelink is reliable and reduced-complexity synchronization. To address this issue, a computationally efficient sequential detection scheme for integer carrier frequency offset and sidelink identity is proposed in the LTED2D system. To perform the frequency offset detection without retrieving the sidelink identity, the conjugate relation between two primary sidelink synchronization sequences is exploited, which facilitates the detection tasks of frequency offset and sidelink identity to be decoupled. It is demonstrated from… More >

Synchronization of Robot Manipulators Actuated By Induction Motors with Velocity Estimator

    Felipe J. Torres1,*, Gerardo V. Guerrero2, Carlos D. García2, Ricardo Zavala-Yoe3, Mario A. García1, Adolfo R. López4

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.121, No.2, pp. 609-630, 2019, DOI:10.32604/cmes.2019.07153

Abstract A complete modeling (including the actuator dynamics) of a robot manipulator that uses three-phase induction motors is presented in this paper. A control scheme is designed to synchronize robot manipulators actuated by induction motors under a masterslave scheme in the case where the joint velocity of the slave robots is estimated. All of the research on the synchronization of robot manipulators assumes the use of ideal actuators to drive the joints; for that reason, in this work, a three-phase induction motor is considered to be a direct-drive actuator for each joint. An entire model of the mated system is obtained… More >

Research on Time Synchronization Method Under Arbitrary Network Delay in Wireless Sensor Networks

    Bing Hu1, Feng Xiang2, Fan Wu3, Jian Liu4, Zhe Sun1, Zhixin Sun1,*

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.61, No.3, pp. 1323-1344, 2019, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2019.06414

Abstract To cope with the arbitrariness of the network delays, a novel method, referred to as the composite particle filter approach based on variational Bayesian (VB-CPF), is proposed herein to estimate the clock skew and clock offset in wireless sensor networks. VB-CPF is an improvement of the Gaussian mixture kalman particle filter (GMKPF) algorithm. In GMKPF, Expectation-Maximization (EM) algorithm needs to determine the number of mixture components in advance, and it is easy to generate overfitting and underfitting. Variational Bayesian EM (VB-EM) algorithm is introduced in this paper to determine the number of mixture components adaptively according to the observations. Moreover,… More >
