    Abstract The properties of droplets produced by existing on-demand injection systems are typically determined by the nozzle diameter, i.e., only droplets with size larger than this diameter can be obtained. To solve this problem, a system for electric field-driven droplet injection and deposition was developed, and the related performances were compared with those of a standard pneumatic system. The results show that the diameter of droplets generated accordingly can be significantly smaller than the nozzle diameter.     High-Precision Time Delay Estimation Based on Closed-Form Offset Compensation

    Abstract To improve the estimation accuracy, a novel time delay estimation (TDE) method based on the closed-form offset compensation is proposed. Firstly, we use the generalized cross-correlation with phase transform (GCC-PHAT) method to obtain the initial TDE. Secondly, a signal model using normalized cross spectrum is established, and the noise subspace is extracted by eigenvalue decomposition (EVD) of covariance matrix. Using the orthogonal relation between the steering vector and the noise subspace, the first-order Taylor expansion is carried out on the steering vector reconstructed by the initial TDE.     Abstract An efficient Petrov-Galerkin Chebyshev spectral method coupled with the Taylor-series expansion method of moments (TEMOM) was developed to simulate the effect of coherent structures on particle coagulation in the exhaust pipe. The Petrov-Galerkin Chebyshev spectral method was presented in detail focusing on the analyticity of solenoidal vector field used for the approximation of the flow.     Application of the Differential Transform Method for Solving Periodic Solutions of Strongly Non-linear Oscillators

    Abstract This paper presents the application of the differential transform method to solve strongly nonlinear equations with cubic nonlinearities and self-excitation terms. First, the equations are transformed by the differential transform method into the algebra equations in terms of the transformed functions. Secondly, the higher-order transformed functions are calculated in terms of other lower-order transformed functions through the iterative procedure. Finally, the solutions are approximated by the n-th partial sum of the infinite series obtained by the inverse differential transform. Two strongly nonlinear equations with different coefficients and initial conditions are given as illustrative examples. More >
