Revathi Gadamsettya,*, Venkata Subrahmanyam Sajjab , P. Sudam Sekharc, Dhaneshwar Prasadd,†

Frontiers in Heat and Mass Transfer, Vol.15, pp. 1-7, 2020, DOI:10.5098/hmt.15.18

Abstract Hydrodynamic lubrication characteristics of asymmetric rollers lubricated by non-Newtonian incompressible Bingham plastic fluid are analyzed in this work. It narrates the qualitative research with the rigid system in which the viscosity of the particular non-Newtonian Bingham plastic substance is considered to become the function of hydrodynamic pressure. The equations considered in this work like equation of motion along with continuity and energy equations are solved numerically using MATLAB after particular analytical steps. Resulting from this particular work, it is identified that there is some notable change in temperatures, pressure, load and traction forces with Newtonian and also non-Newtonian fluids both.… More >

Frontiers in Heat and Mass Transfer, Vol.18, pp. 1-6, 2022, DOI:10.5098/hmt.18.38

Abstract Nozzle flowmeter has simple structure and wide application. In order to study the influence of temperature change on the inner wall of nozzle flowmeter on the thermal effect of flowmeter, the thermal effect of nozzle flowmeter was numerically simulated at five different inner wall temperatures in this paper. It is found that with the increase of the inner wall temperature, obvious stress concentration occurs in the upstream and downstream pressure inlets and the inlet and outlet areas of the flowmeter, and the thermal stress increases with the increase of the wall temperature. There are large thermal deformation areas in the… More >

    Wenpeng Guo1,2, Yongtu Liang1,*

    Energy Engineering, Vol.119, No.5, pp. 2049-2064, 2022, DOI:10.32604/ee.2022.019526

Abstract In this paper, the transportation economy of two heated crude oil pipelines laid in one ditch is analyzed by taking into account the influence of operating temperature, interval between two pipelines, and distance between two heating stations on the heating energy consumption. To analyze the transportation economy, the two heated crude oil pipelines laid in one ditch are simulated under four operating conditions based on an unstructured finite volume method. Compared with laying two crude oil pipelines separately in two ditches, the results attest notably higher soil temperature, meaning reduced heat dissipation of each pipeline by laying two pipelines in… More >

Haoyu Wan, Heng Zhang, Zhizhu He*

    FDMP-Fluid Dynamics & Materials Processing, Vol.17, No.3, pp. 639-651, 2021, DOI:10.32604/fdmp.2021.012106

Abstract Treating coronary bifurcation stenosis is still a challenging task. Existing procedures still display a relatively small rate of success. This paper aims to investigate numerically the effect of bifurcation lesions with different structures on the dynamics of blood flow and related temperature. The problem geometry is parametrically varied by changing the bifurcation angle and radius. A finite volume method is used to simulate the three-dimensional flow. The effects induced by the structure of the stenosis, the artery bifurcation angle and radius, and the inlet velocity of blood are discussed in terms of flow pattern, pressure distribution, and shear stress at… More >

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.126, No.2, pp. 821-841, 2021, DOI:10.32604/cmes.2021.012529

Abstract The main focus of this study is to investigate the impact of heat generation/absorption with ramp velocity and ramp temperature on magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) time-dependent Maxwell fluid over an unbounded plate embedded in a permeable medium. Non-dimensional parameters along with Laplace transformation and inversion algorithms are used to find the solution of shear stress, energy, and velocity profile. Recently, new fractional differential operators are used to define ramped temperature and ramped velocity. The obtained analytical solutions are plotted for different values of emerging parameters. Fractional time derivatives are used to analyze the impact of fractional parameters (memory effect) on the dynamics… More >

    Long Jiao1,2, Zhibin Wang1,2, Rong Chen1,2,*, Xun Zhu1,2, Qiang Liao1,2, Dingding Ye1,2, Biao Zhang1,2

The International Conference on Computational & Experimental Engineering and Sciences, Vol.22, No.3, pp. 144-146, 2019, DOI:10.32604/icces.2019.04734

Abstract With the advances in micro total analysis systems (µTAS), the droplet-based microfluidics, which manipulates mini discrete droplets in an immiscible continuous phase to accomplish various detections, has been applied to many fields including medicine, pharmacy, fine-chemistry and biotechnology as it offers distinct advantages, such as small diffusion length, high-throughput, precise control and integratability [1]. As compared to the continuous-flow microfluidics, the samples in the droplet-based microfluidics are isolated by a defined droplet/continuous phase interface, avoiding the cross contamination and resulting in a controllable reaction environment. In the droplet-based microfluidics, the control of the droplet temperature with prominent temporal spatial resolution… More >

    Hsien-Chie Cheng1, Chun-Hung Wu2, Yang-Lun Liu2, Wen-Hwa Chen2

The International Conference on Computational & Experimental Engineering and Sciences, Vol.11, No.3, pp. 65-66, 2009, DOI:10.3970/icces.2009.011.065

Abstract This study attempts to explore the thermal effect on the vibrational behaviors of single-walled carbon nanotube (SWCNT) using both a constant temperature molecular dynamics (MD) simulation that incorporates a Nosé-Hoover thermostat and a modified molecular structure mechanics (MMSM) model. The MD simulation is combined with a Nosé-Hoover thermostat, which controls the temperature of the system by an additional thermal reservoir. On the other hand, the MMSM model adopts equivalent beam elements and spring elements to simulate the bonding and non-bonding interactions between atoms, respectively, where the effect of temperatures can be also taken into account through Badger's rules.

    Ying Zhao1, Mohammad Noori1,2, Wael A. Altabey1,3,*, Ramin Ghiasi4, Zhishen Wu1

    Structural Durability & Health Monitoring, Vol.13, No.1, pp. 85-103, 2019, DOI:10.32604/sdhm.2019.04695

Abstract This paper introduces a stiffness reduction based model developed by the authors to characterize accumulative fatigue damage in unidirectional plies and (0/θ/0) composite laminates in fiber reinforced polymer (FRP) composite laminates. The proposed damage detection model is developed based on a damage evolution mechanism, including crack initiation and crack damage progress in matrix, matrix-fiber interface and fibers. Research result demonstrates that the corresponding stiffness of unidirectional composite laminates is reduced as the number of loading cycles progresses. First, three common models in literatures are presented and compared. Tensile viscosity, Young’s modulus and ultimate tensile stress of composites are incorporated as… More >

    S. Brischetto1

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.88, No.5, pp. 367-418, 2012, DOI:10.3970/cmes.2012.088.367

Abstract The paper analyzes the hygrothermal loading effects in the bending of multilayered composite plates. Refined two-dimensional models are used to evaluate these effects, they are implemented in the framework of the Carrera's Unified Formulation (CUF) which also allows classical models to be obtained. Hygroscopic and thermal effects are evaluated by means of hygroscopic and thermal load applications, respectively. Such loads can be determined via a priori linear or constant moisture content and temperature profiles through the thickness of the plate, or by calculating them via the solution of the Fick moisture diffusion law and the Fourier heat conduction equation, respectively.… More >

    S. Oukach1,2,3, H. Hamdi2, M. El Ganaoui4, B. Pateyron1

    FDMP-Fluid Dynamics & Materials Processing, Vol.8, No.2, pp. 173-196, 2012, DOI:10.3970/fdmp.2012.008.173

Abstract The splat formation is one of the basic processes in thermal spray coatings. The performance of these coatings is strongly related to the process of spreading and solidification of molten droplets. The aim of the present paper is to simulate the fluid flow, heat transfer and phase-change that occur when a micrometric molten droplet impacts onto a rigid substrate and to examine the effect of the substrate conditions, such as initial temperature and material on the solidification time and spreading process. The effect of thermal contact resistance is also investigated. The simulation model used is based on the Navier-Stokes equations… More >
