Khakoo Mal1,2,*, Tayab Din Memon1,3, Imtiaz Hussain Kalwar4, Bhawani Shankar Chowdhry5

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.74, No.2, pp. 3351-3370, 2023, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2023.032940

Abstract It is necessary to know the status of adhesion conditions between wheel and rail for efficient accelerating and decelerating of railroad vehicle. The proper estimation of adhesion conditions and their real-time implementation is considered a challenge for scholars. In this paper, the development of simulation model of extended Kalman filter (EKF) in MATLAB/Simulink is presented to estimate various railway wheelset parameters in different contact conditions of track. Due to concurrent in nature, the Xilinx® System-on-Chip Zynq Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGA) device is chosen to check the onboard estimation of wheel-rail interaction parameters by using the National Instruments (NI) myRIO®More >

Analysis of Software Success Through Structural Equation Modeling

    Muhammad Hamid1,*, Furkh Zeshan2, Adnan Ahmad2, Saadia Malik3, Muhammad Saleem4, Nadia Tabassum5, Muhammad Qasim1

    Intelligent Automation & Soft Computing, Vol.31, No.3, pp. 1689-1701, 2022, DOI:10.32604/iasc.2022.020898

Abstract Determining factors influencing the success of software projects has been the emphasis of extensive research for more than 40 years. However, the majority of research in this domain has focused on developed countries, with little attention paid to underdeveloped and developing countries. The primary objective of this article was to assess the effect of critical elements on the success of software projects in underdeveloped countries (like Pakistan), because enterprise environmental factors and staff working habits, as well as their experience and expertise level, all have an effect on a project's success. For this purpose, data were collected from 339 senior… More >

Failure Prediction, Lead Time Estimation and Health Degree Assessment for Hard Disk Drives Using Voting Based Decision Trees

    Kamaljit Kaur1, *, Kuljit Kaur2

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.60, No.3, pp. 913-946, 2019, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2019.07675

Abstract Hard Disk drives (HDDs) are an essential component of cloud computing and big data, responsible for storing humongous volumes of collected data. However, HDD failures pose a huge challenge to big data servers and cloud service providers. Every year, about 10% disk drives used in servers crash at least twice, lead to data loss, recovery cost and lower reliability. Recently, the researchers have used SMART parameters to develop various prediction techniques, however, these methods need to be improved for reliability and real-world usage due to the following factors: they lack the ability to consider the gradual change/deterioration of HDDs; they… More >
