    Phyton-International Journal of Experimental Botany, Vol.91, No.1, pp. 223-238, 2022, DOI:10.32604/phyton.2022.015523

Abstract Korean pine is an important afforestation tree species in Northeast China, which has a high ecological and economic value. Although regeneration of somatic embryogenesis using immature zygotic embryos of Korean pine as explants has been successful, it cannot be applied to automation and large-scale production. Therefore, we urgently need a method that can increase the output of somatic embryos (SEs) to meet the needs of large-scale production. We used Korean pine 1–1 and 1–100 cell lines as research materials to evaluate the effects of inoculum-density, culture time, orbiting speed, vessel volume, plant growth regulator (PGR) concentration, and carbon source on… More >

Abstract In the recent years, microarray technology gained attention for concurrent monitoring of numerous microarray images. It remains a major challenge to process, store and transmit such huge volumes of microarray images. So, image compression techniques are used in the reduction of number of bits so that it can be stored and the images can be shared easily. Various techniques have been proposed in the past with applications in different domains. The current research paper presents a novel image compression technique i.e., optimized Linde–Buzo–Gray (OLBG) with Lempel Ziv Markov Algorithm (LZMA) coding technique called OLBG-LZMA for compressing microarray images without any… More >

Abstract Understanding the assembly and spatial arrangement of bamboo cell wall components is crucial for its optimal utilization. Bamboo cell walls consist of aggregates of cellulose microfibrils and matrix. In the present study, the size and arrangement of cellulose microfibril aggregates in the cell walls of sclerenchyma fibers and parenchyma cells in moso bamboo were investigated with NMR and FE-SEM. The NMR measurement showed that the characteristic sizes of the microfibril aggregates of fibers and parenchyma cells were approximately 25.8 nm and 18.8 nm, respectively. Furthermore, high-resolution SEM showed the size of microfibril aggregates varied little across the cell wall of… More >

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.69, No.1, pp. 727-745, 2021, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2021.018182

Abstract In the simulation of acupuncture manipulation, it is necessary to accurately capture the information of acupuncture points and particles around them. Therefore, a soft tissue modeling method that can accurately track model particles is needed. In this paper, a soft tissue acupuncture model based on the mass-spring force net is designed. MSM is used as the auxiliary model and the SHF model is combined. SHF is used to establish a three-layer soft tissue model of skin, fat, and muscle, and a layer of the MSM based force network is covered on the surface of soft tissue to realize the complementary… More >

    Xiaorui Zhang1,2,*, Jiali Duan1, Wei Sun2, Tong Xu1, Sunil Kumar Jha3

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.127, No.1, pp. 117-133, 2021, DOI:10.32604/cmes.2021.012034

Abstract The cutting simulation of soft tissue is important in virtual surgery. It includes three major challenges in computation: Soft tissue simulation, collision detection, and handling, as well as soft tissue models. In order to address the earlier challenges, we propose a virtual cutting system based on the mass-spring model. In this system, MSM is utilized to simulate the soft tissue model. Residual stress is introduced to the model for simulating the shrinking effect of soft tissue in cutting. Second, a cylinder-based collision detection method is used to supervise the collision between surgical tools and soft tissue. Third, we simulate the… More >

A Fast and Accurate Vascular Tissue Simulation Model Based on Point Primitive Method

    Xiaorui Zhang1,2,*, Hailun Wu1, Wei Sun1, Aiguo Song3, Sunil Kumar Jha4

    Intelligent Automation & Soft Computing, Vol.27, No.3, pp. 873-889, 2021, DOI:10.32604/iasc.2021.013541

Abstract Virtual surgery simulation is indispensable for virtual vascular interventional training system, which provides the doctor with visual scene between catheter and vascular. Soft tissue deformation, as the most significant part, determines the success or failure of the virtual surgery simulation. However, most soft tissue deformation model cannot simultaneously meet the requirement of high deformation accuracy and real-time interaction. To solve the challenge mentioned above, this paper proposes a fast and accurate vascular tissue simulation model based on point primitive method. Firstly, the proposed model simulates a deformation of the internal structure of the vascular tissue by adopting a point primitive… More >

Afzan Adam1,*, Abdul Hadi Abd Rahman1, Nor Samsiah Sani1, Zaid Abdi Alkareem Alyessari1, Nur Jumaadzan Zaleha Mamat2, Basela Hasan3

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.67, No.1, pp. 761-777, 2021, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2021.014599

Abstract Boundary effect in digital pathology is a phenomenon where the tissue shapes of biopsy samples get distorted during the sampling process. The morphological pattern of an epithelial layer is greatly affected. Theoretically, the shape deformation model can normalise the distortions, but it needs a 2D image. Curvatures theory, on the other hand, is not yet tested on digital pathology images. Therefore, this work proposed a curvature detection to reduce the boundary effects and estimates the epithelial layer. The boundary effect on the tissue surfaces is normalised using the frequency of a curve deviates from being a straight line. The epithelial… More >
