    Niraj Kumar1,*, Vishnu Mohan Mishra2, Adesh Kumar3

    Intelligent Automation & Soft Computing, Vol.34, No.1, pp. 623-638, 2022, DOI:10.32604/iasc.2022.024804

Abstract Supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) systems continuously monitor the real-time processes in the smart grid. The system software, which is based on a human-machine interface (HMI), makes intelligent decisions to assist the system operator and perform normal grid management activities. The management of SCADA networks and monitoring without proper security is a major concern, as many grids and plant networks still lack necessary monitoring and detection systems, making them vulnerable to attack. SCADA networks exploit physical weaknesses as well as cyber-attacks. Researchers have developed a monitoring system based on a field-programmable gate array (FPGA) and a microcontroller that allows… More >

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.72, No.2, pp. 3961-3983, 2022, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2022.026513

Abstract The Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) has been growing for presentations in industry in recent years. Security for the IIoT has unavoidably become a problem in terms of creating safe applications. Due to continual needs for new functionality, such as foresight, the number of linked devices in the industrial environment increases. Certification of fewer signatories gives strong authentication solutions and prevents trustworthy third parties from being publicly certified among available encryption instruments. Hence this blockchain-based endpoint protection platform (BCEPP) has been proposed to validate the network policies and reduce overall latency in isolation or hold endpoints. A resolver supports the… More >

Abstract Satellite networks are recognized as the most essential communication infrastructures in the world today, which complement land networks and provide valuable services for their users. Extensive coverage and service stability of these networks have increased their popularity. Since eavesdropping and active intrusion in satellite communications are much easier than in terrestrial networks, securing satellite communications is vital. So far, several protocols have been proposed for authentication and key exchange of satellite communications, but none of them fully meet the security requirements. In this paper, we examine one of these protocols and identify its security vulnerabilities. Moreover, we propose a robust… More >

    Xiaojun Pan1, Haiying Li2, Xiaoyi Li1, Li Xu1, Yanbin Sun1,*

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.71, No.2, pp. 2401-2417, 2022, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2022.021020

Abstract Supervisory control and data acquisition systems (SCADAs) play an important role in supervising and controlling industrial production with the help of programmable logic controllers (PLCs) in industrial control systems (ICSs). A PLC receives the control information or program from a SCADA to control the production equipment and feeds the production data back to the SCADA. Once a SCADA is controlled by an attacker, it may threaten the safety of industrial production. The lack of security protection, such as identity authentication and encryption for industrial control protocols, increases the potential security risks. In this paper, we propose a PLC protection system… More >

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.71, No.1, pp. 1283-1311, 2022, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2022.021608

Abstract Biometric recognition refers to the process of recognizing a person’s identity using physiological or behavioral modalities, such as face, voice, fingerprint, gait, etc. Such biometric modalities are mostly used in recognition tasks separately as in unimodal systems, or jointly with two or more as in multimodal systems. However, multimodal systems can usually enhance the recognition performance over unimodal systems by integrating the biometric data of multiple modalities at different fusion levels. Despite this enhancement, in real-life applications some factors degrade multimodal systems’ performance, such as occlusion, face poses, and noise in voice data. In this paper, we propose two algorithms… More >
