    How Travelling Wavelength Affects Hydrodynamic Performance of Two Linear-Accelerating Mirror-Symmetric Fish-Like Swimmers

    Abstract Fish schools are capable of simultaneous linear acceleration. To reveal the underlying hydrodynamic mechanism, we numerically investigate how Reynolds number Re = 1000−2000, Strouhal number St = 0.2−0.7 and wavelength λ = 0.5−2 affects the mean net thrust of two side-by-side NACA0012 hydrofoils undulating in anti-phase. In total, 550 cases are simulated using immersed boundary method. The thrust is strengthened by wavelength and Strouhal number, yet only slightly by the Reynolds number. We apply the symbolic regression algorithm to formulate this relationship as a high-level summary. More >

    Abstract This study aims to realize the sharing of near-infrared analysis models of lignin and holocellulose content in pulp wood on two different batches of spectrometers and proposes a combined algorithm of SPA-DS, MCUVE-DS and SiPLS-DS. The Successive Projection Algorithm (SPA), the Monte-Carlo of Uninformative Variable Elimination (MCUVE) and the Synergy Interval Partial Least Squares (SiPLS) algorithms are respectively used to reduce the adverse effects of redundant information in the transmission process of the full spectrum DS algorithm model.     Abstract Wavelength-dependent mathematical modelling of the differential energy change of a photon has been performed inside a proposed hypothetical optical medium. The existence of this medium demands certain mathematical constraints, which have been derived in detail.     Abstract Given the central role of light in the algal photosynthesis, respiration, cell division, growth and the accumulation of value products, the effects of light-emitting diodes (LEDs) light wavelengths (blue, white, red and green) were studied in Scenedesmus obliquus. Biomass, residual nutrient amount, soluble protein, astaxanthin and reactive oxygen species, superoxide dismutase (SOD), catalase (CAT) and peroxidase (POD) activity were analyzed to determine the effects of different monochromatic light wavelengths via biochemical methods.
