    Bairu Li1, Jingyu Jia1, Hemin Wang1, Jiaju Sun1, Enyan Chen1, Xin Li1,2,3,*

Phyton-International Journal of Experimental Botany, Vol., , DOI:10.32604/phyton.2024.050450

Abstract Trypsin, a novel superoxide scavenger, significantly enhances the storage quality of Hylocereus undatus (H. undatus). To elucidate the preservation mechanism of trypsin on H. undatus, a widely targeted metabolomic analysis, and transcriptomics analysis were conducted. Firstly, a total of 453 metabolites were identified, with organic acids and their derivatives constituting the largest proportion (25%). Amino acids and their metabolites, prominent among organic acids, were further analyzed. Among them, 73 metabolites were associated with amino acids, and 37 exhibited significant differences. The most enriched Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes (KEGG) pathway was arginine biosynthesis (map00220), with polyamine metabolites showing the… More >

    Xiaolu Qin1,3, Xinyu Li1,3, Yi Yang2, Mei Huang2, Shengli Wu1, Pianchou Gongpan1, Lianzhang Wu2, Juncai He2, Changan Geng1,3,*

Phyton-International Journal of Experimental Botany, Vol., , DOI:10.32604/phyton.2024.048192

Abstract The fruits of Amomum tsao-ko (Cao-Guo) were documented in Chinese Pharmacopoeia for the treatment of abdominal pain, vomiting, and plague. In our previous study, a series of diarylheptanes and flavonoids with α-glucosidase and protein tyrosine phosphatase 1B (PTP1B) inhibitory activity have been reported from the middle-polarity part of A. tsao-ko, whereas the antidiabetic potency of the low-polarity constituents is still unclear. In this study, three new hydroxytetradecenals, (2E, 4E, 8Z, 11Z)-6R-hydroxytetradeca-2,4,8,11-tetraenal (1), (2E, 4E, 8Z)-6R-hydroxytetradeca-2,4,8-trienal (2) and (2E, 4E)-6R-hydroxytetradeca-2,4-dienal (3) were obtained from the volatile oils of A. tsao-ko. The structures of compounds 1–3 were determined using spectroscopic data involving… More >

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol., , DOI:10.32604/cmes.2024.051475

Abstract Cancer-related to the nervous system and brain tumors is a leading cause of mortality in various countries. Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and computed tomography (CT) are utilized to capture brain images. MRI plays a crucial role in the diagnosis of brain tumors and the examination of other brain disorders. Typically, manual assessment of MRI images by radiologists or experts is performed to identify brain tumors and abnormalities in the early stages for timely intervention. However, early diagnosis of brain tumors is intricate, necessitating the use of computerized methods. This research introduces an innovative approach for the automated segmentation of brain… More > Graphic Abstract

Numerical Analysis of Perforation during Hydraulic Fracture Initiation Based on Continuous–Discontinuous Element Method

    Rui Zhang1, Lixiang Wang2,*, Jing Li1,4, Chun Feng2, Yiming Zhang1,3,4,*

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol., , DOI:10.32604/cmes.2024.049885

Abstract Perforation is a pivotal technique employed to establish main flow channels within the reservoir formation at the outset of hydraulic fracturing operations. Optimizing perforation designs is critical for augmenting the efficacy of hydraulic fracturing and boosting oil or gas production. In this study, we employ a hybrid finite-discrete element method, known as the continuous–discontinuous element method (CDEM), to simulate the initiation of post-perforation hydraulic fractures and to derive enhanced design parameters. The model incorporates the four most prevalent perforation geometries, as delineated in an engineering technical report. Real-world perforations deviate from the ideal cylindrical shape, exhibiting variable cross-sectional profiles that… More >

Design and Performance Analysis of HMDV Dynamic Inertial Suspension Based on Active Disturbance Rejection Control

    Xiaofeng Yang1,3,4, Wei Wang1,3,4,*, Yujie Shen2,4, Changning Liu1,3,4, Tianyi Zhang1,4

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol., , DOI:10.32604/cmes.2024.049837

Abstract This paper addresses the impact of vertical vibration negative effects, unbalanced radial forces generated by the static eccentricity of the hub motor, and road excitation on the suspension performance of Hub Motor Driven Vehicle (HMDV). A dynamic inertial suspension based on Active Disturbance Rejection Control (ADRC) is proposed, combining the vertical dynamic characteristics of dynamic inertial suspension with the features of ADRC, which distinguishes between internal and external disturbances and arranges the transition process. Firstly, a simulation model of the static eccentricity of the hub motor is established to simulate the unbalanced radial electromagnetic force generated under static eccentricity. Sleep Posture Classification Using RGB and Thermal Cameras Based on Deep Learning Model

    Awais Khan1, Chomyong Kim2, Jung-Yeon Kim2, Ahsan Aziz1, Yunyoung Nam3,*

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol., , DOI:10.32604/cmes.2024.049618

Abstract Sleep posture surveillance is crucial for patient comfort, yet current systems face difficulties in providing comprehensive studies due to the obstruction caused by blankets. Precise posture assessment remains challenging because of the complex nature of the human body and variations in sleep patterns. Consequently, this study introduces an innovative method utilizing RGB and thermal cameras for comprehensive posture classification, thereby enhancing the analysis of body position and comfort. This method begins by capturing a dataset of sleep postures in the form of videos using RGB and thermal cameras, which depict six commonly adopted postures: supine, left log, right log, prone… More > Graphic Abstract

    Sen-Hui Wang1,2,*, Xi Kang1, Cheng Wang1, Tian-Bing Ma1, Xiang He2, Ke Yang2,*

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol., , DOI:10.32604/cmes.2024.049281

Abstract Accurately predicting the remaining useful life (RUL) of bearings in mining rotating equipment is vital for mining enterprises. This research aims to distinguish the features associated with the RUL of bearings and propose a prediction model based on these selected features. This study proposes a hybrid predictive model to assess the RUL of rolling element bearings. The proposed model begins with the pre-processing of bearing vibration signals to reconstruct sixty time-domain features. The hybrid model selects relevant features from the sixty time-domain features of the vibration signal by adopting the RReliefF feature selection algorithm. Subsequently, the extreme learning machine (ELM)… More >

    Yijie Ye1, Han Wang2, Liujiang Ye1, Hao Gao1,*

International Journal of Mental Health Promotion, Vol., , DOI:10.32604/ijmhp.2024.049606

Abstract Sleep quality is closely linked to people’s health, and during the COVID-19 pandemic, the sleep patterns of residents in China were notably poor. The lockdown in China led to an increase in social media use, prompting questions about its impact on sleep. Therefore, this study investigates the association between social media use and sleep quality among Chinese residents during the COVID-19 outbreak, highlighting the potential mediating role of social media addiction. Data were collected via questionnaires through a cross-sectional survey with 779 valid responses. Variance analysis was used to test for differences in social media use among different demographic variables.… More >
