Efficient Origin-Destination Estimation Using Microscopic Traffic Simulation with Restricted Rerouting

    Kazuki Abe1,*, Hideki Fujii2, Shinobu Yoshimura2

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.135, No.2, pp. 1091-1109, 2023, DOI:10.32604/cmes.2022.021376 - 27 October 2022

Abstract Traffic simulators are utilized to solve a variety of traffic-related problems. For such simulators, origin-destination (OD) traffic volumes as mobility demands are required to input, and we need to estimate them. The authors regard an OD estimation as a bi-level programming problem, and apply a microscopic traffic simulation model to it. However, the simulation trials can be computationally expensive if full dynamic rerouting is allowed, when employing multi-agent-based models in the estimation process. This paper proposes an efficient OD estimation method using a multi-agent-based simulator with restricted dynamic rerouting to reduce the computational load. Even More >

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.135, No.2, pp. 917-1005, 2023, DOI:10.32604/cmes.2023.021223 - 27 October 2022

Abstract Computer vision provides image-based solutions to inspect and investigate the quality of the surface to be measured. For any components to execute their intended functions and operations, surface quality is considered equally significant to dimensional quality. Surface Roughness (Ra) is a widely recognized measure to evaluate and investigate the surface quality of machined parts. Various conventional methods and approaches to measure the surface roughness are not feasible and appropriate in industries claiming 100% inspection and examination because of the time and efforts involved in performing the measurement. However, Machine vision has emerged as the innovative More >

A Single-Ended Protection Principle for LCC-VSC-MTDC System with High Resistance Fault Tolerance

Dahai Zhang*, Chuanjian Wu, Jinghan He

    Energy Engineering, Vol.120, No.1, pp. 1-21, 2023, DOI:10.32604/ee.2022.023304 - 27 October 2022

Abstract Line-commutated converter-voltage source converter (LCC-VSC) power transmission technology does not have the problem of communication failure very usually. It therefore can support the long-distance, long-capacity transmission of electric energy. However, factors such as topology, control strategy, and short-circuit capacities make the traditional protection principles not fully applicable to LCC-VSC hybrid transmission systems. To enhance the reliability of hybrid DC systems, a single-ended principle based on transmission coefficients is proposed and produced. First, the equivalent circuit of the LCC-VSC hybrid DC system is analyzed and the expression of the first traveling wave is deduced accordingly. Then, More >

    Energy Engineering, Vol.120, No.1, pp. 245-261, 2023, DOI:10.32604/ee.2022.022877 - 27 October 2022

Abstract With the rapid development of the economy, the scale of the power grid is expanding. The number of power equipment that constitutes the power grid has been very large, which makes the state data of power equipment grow explosively. These multi-source heterogeneous data have data differences, which lead to data variation in the process of transmission and preservation, thus forming the bad information of incomplete data. Therefore, the research on data integrity has become an urgent task. This paper is based on the characteristics of random chance and the Spatio-temporal difference of the system. According… More >

    Tao Hou1, Shan Wang1,2,*

    Energy Engineering, Vol.120, No.1, pp. 87-106, 2023, DOI:10.32604/ee.2022.022122 - 27 October 2022

Abstract The existing Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT) method has low tracking efficiency and poor stability. It is easy to fall into the Local Maximum Power Point (LMPP) in Partial Shading Condition (PSC), resulting in the degradation of output power quality and efficiency. It was found that various bio-inspired MPPT based optimization algorithms employ different mechanisms, and their performance in tracking the Global Maximum Power Point (GMPP) varies. Thus, a Cuckoo search algorithm (CSA) combined with the Incremental conductance Algorithm (INC) is proposed (CSA-INC) is put forward for the MPPT method of photovoltaic power generation.
