YOLO and Blockchain Technology Applied to Intelligent Transportation License Plate Character Recognition for Security

    Fares Alharbi1, Reem Alshahrani2, Mohammed Zakariah3,*, Amjad Aldweesh1, Abdulrahman Abdullah Alghamdi1

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.77, No.3, pp. 3697-3722, 2023, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2023.040086

Abstract Privacy and trust are significant issues in intelligent transportation systems (ITS). Data security is critical in ITS systems since sensitive user data is communicated to another user over the internet through wireless devices and routes such as radio channels, optical fiber, and blockchain technology. The Internet of Things (IoT) is a network of connected, interconnected gadgets. Privacy issues occasionally arise due to the amount of data generated. However, they have been primarily addressed by blockchain and smart contract technology. While there are still security issues with smart contracts, primarily due to the complexity of writing the code, there are still… More >

An Intelligent Fine-Tuned Forecasting Technique for Covid-19 Prediction Using Neuralprophet Model

    Savita Khurana1, Gaurav Sharma2, Neha Miglani3, Aman Singh4, Abdullah Alharbi5, Wael Alosaimi5, Hashem Alyami6, Nitin Goyal7,*

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.71, No.1, pp. 629-649, 2022, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2022.021884

Abstract COVID-19, being the virus of fear and anxiety, is one of the most recent and emergent of various respiratory disorders. It is similar to the MERS-COV and SARS-COV, the viruses that affected a large population of different countries in the year 2012 and 2002, respectively. Various standard models have been used for COVID-19 epidemic prediction but they suffered from low accuracy due to lesser data availability and a high level of uncertainty. The proposed approach used a machine learning-based time-series Facebook NeuralProphet model for prediction of the number of death as well as confirmed cases and compared it with Poisson… More >

The role of HBD-2, HBD-3, and calprotectin in the relationship between chronic periodontitis and atherosclerosis

    MEHMET TASPINAR1,2,*, ALIHAN BOZOGLAN3,4, ABDULLAH SECKIN ERTUGRUL5, LEVENT ELMAS6

    BIOCELL, Vol.44, No.3, pp. 337-344, 2020, DOI:10.32604/biocell.2020.011470

Abstract This study was carried out to compare individuals diagnosed with atherosclerosis and periodontal periodontitis based on the degree of change in the human beta-defensins (HBD) HBD-2, HBD-3, and calprotectin. Atherosclerosis is the most frequently observed cardiovascular disease. Dental and periodontal infections are known to provide a considerable basis for atheroma plaque formation. The study group consists of a total number of 40 subjects, with 20 patients diagnosed with atherosclerosis and chronic periodontitis and 20 systemically healthy patients diagnosed with chronic periodontitis. Clinical periodontal and blood parameters and HBD-2, HBD-3, and calprotectin biomarkers in the gingival crevicular fluid were measured. In… More >

Experimental Study on the Influence Mechanism of Carbon Fiber/Epoxy Composite Reinforcement and Matrix on Its Fire Performance

    Lei Zhang1, Haiyan Wang1,*, Junpeng Zhang1, Zhi Wang2, Zuohui Xu1, Xinyu Gao1

    Journal of Renewable Materials, Vol.8, No.3, pp. 219-237, 2020, DOI:10.32604/jrm.2020.09096

Abstract The effects of the number of layers, the arrangement of carbon fiber (CF) tow and the epoxy resin (ER) matrix on the fire performance of carbon fiber/epoxy composites (CFEC) were studied by a variety of experimental methods. The results show that the number of layers of CF tow has influence on the combustion characteristics and fire propagation of the composites. The arrangement of CF tow has influence on flame propagation rate and high temperature mechanicalproperties. The mechanism of the influence of the number of layers of CF tow on the composite is mainly due to the different thermal capacity of… More >
