    Olanrewaju M. Oyewolaa,b,*, Samuel I. Afolabib

Frontiers in Heat and Mass Transfer, Vol.19, pp. 1-8, 2022, DOI:10.5098/hmt.19.20

Abstract This paper investigates numerically the problem of convective heat transfer and entropy generation by two adiabatic obstacles positioned inside a square cavity heated at the left wall and cooled on the right wall while horizontal walls are adiabatic. The inclination angle of the cavity orientation investigated are 30, 60 and 90 degrees. Rayleigh numbers ranging from 103 to 106 were calculated for two vertical obstacles. The method of Galerkin finite element was employed to solve the conservation equations of mass, momentum and energy. The cavity is assumed to be filled with air with Prandtl number of 0.71. It was observed… More >

    Journal of Renewable Materials, Vol.11, No.6, pp. 2969-2983, 2023, DOI:10.32604/jrm.2023.025760

Abstract Iron-based amorphous crystalline powder Fe78Si9B13AP is used as a permeability reaction barrier (PRB) combined with an electrokinetic method (EK-PRB) to study the removal rate of Cu in contaminated soil. After treating Cucontaminated soil for 5 days under different voltage gradients and soil water content, the soil pH is between 3.1 and 7.2. The increase of voltage gradient and soil water content can effectively promote the movement of Cu2+ to the cathode. The voltage gradient is 3 V/cm, and the water content of 40% is considered to be an optional experimental condition. Therefore, under this condition, the effects of Fe78Si9B13AP and… More >

Heavy Metal/Metalloid Indexing and Balances in Agricultural Soils: Methodological Approach for Research

    Shahid Hussain*

    Phyton-International Journal of Experimental Botany, Vol.91, No.12, pp. 2687-2697, 2022, DOI:10.32604/phyton.2022.021158

Abstract Heavy metal(loid) accumulation in agricultural soils is a threat to the soil capacity, quality, and productivity. It also increases human exposure to heavy metal(loid)s via consumption of contaminated plant-based foods. The detrimental effects of soil contamination also deteriorate the environment of plants and animals. For sustainable agriculture, therefore, the soil must be protected from toxic levels of heavy metal(loid)s. Studies on heavy metal(loid) balances in agricultural soils are important in predicting future risks to sustainable production from agro-ecological zones and human exposure to heavy metal(loid)s. The latest and continuous indexing of the problem seems a prerequisite for sustainable agriculture. This… More >

    Kandasamy Sellamuthu*, Vishnu Kumar Kaliappan

    Computer Systems Science and Engineering, Vol.45, No.1, pp. 715-736, 2023, DOI:10.32604/csse.2023.029017

Abstract Pesticides have become more necessary in modern agricultural production. However, these pesticides have an unforeseeable long-term impact on people's wellbeing as well as the ecosystem. Due to a shortage of basic pesticide exposure awareness, farmers typically utilize pesticides extremely close to harvesting. Pesticide residues within foods, particularly fruits as well as veggies, are a significant issue among farmers, merchants, and particularly consumers. The residual concentrations were far lower than these maximal allowable limits, with only a few surpassing the restrictions for such pesticides in food. There is an obligation to provide a warning about this amount of pesticide use in… More >

Dust Deposition’s Effect on Solar Photovoltaic Module Performance: An Experimental Study in India’s Tropical Region

    K. R. Chairma Lakshmi*, Geetha Ramadas

    Journal of Renewable Materials, Vol.10, No.8, pp. 2133-2153, 2022, DOI:10.32604/jrm.2022.019649

Abstract A solar PV panel works with maximum efficiency only when it is operated around its optimum operating point or maximum power point. Unfortunately, the performance of the solar cell is affected by several factors like sun direction, solar irradiance, dust accumulation, module temperature, as well as the load on the system. Dust deposition is one of the most prominent factors that influence the performance of solar panels. Because the solar panel is exposed to the atmosphere, dust will accumulate on its surface, reducing the quantity of sunlight reaching the solar cell and diminishing output. In the proposed work, a detailed… More >
