    Hang Guo1,2,3, Linxian Liao1,2,3, Zhenhao Zheng4, Junzeng Xu1,2,3,*, Qi Wei1,2,3, Peng Chen1,2,3, Kechun Wang1,2,3

    Phyton-International Journal of Experimental Botany, Vol.92, No.12, pp. 3291-3304, 2023, DOI:10.32604/phyton.2023.044051

    Abstract

The utilization of aquaculture wastewater as irrigation is an effective way to recycle and reuse water and nitrogen fertilizer resources because it contains numerous nutrients. However, it is still unclear that the pattern of substituting aquaculture wastewater irrigation for fertilizer supplementing is conducive to improving the soil nitrogen status, fruit yield and water-fertilizer use efficiency for tomato production. In this context, the experiment was intended to establish the appropriate irrigation regime of aquaculture wastewater in tomato production for freshwater replacement and fertilizer reduction to ensure good yields. Pot experiments were conducted with treatments as farmers accustomed to irrigation and fertilization… More >

Intelligent Fish Behavior Classification Using Modified Invasive Weed Optimization with Ensemble Fusion Model

    B. Keerthi Samhitha*, R. Subhashini

    Intelligent Automation & Soft Computing, Vol.37, No.3, pp. 3125-3142, 2023, DOI:10.32604/iasc.2023.040643

Abstract Accurate and rapid detection of fish behaviors is critical to perceive health and welfare by allowing farmers to make informed management decisions about recirculating the aquaculture system while decreasing labor. The classic detection approach involves placing sensors on the skin or body of the fish, which may interfere with typical behavior and welfare. The progress of deep learning and computer vision technologies opens up new opportunities to understand the biological basis of this behavior and precisely quantify behaviors that contribute to achieving accurate management in precision farming and higher production efficacy. This study develops an intelligent fish behavior classification using… More >

An IoT-Based Aquaculture Monitoring System Using Firebase

    Wen-Tsai Sung1, Indra Griha Tofik Isa1,2, Sung-Jung Hsiao3,*

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.76, No.2, pp. 2179-2200, 2023, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2023.041022

Abstract Indonesia is a producer in the fisheries sector, with production reaching 14.8 million tons in 2022. The production potential of the fisheries sector can be optimally optimized through aquaculture management. One of the most important issues in aquaculture management is how to efficiently control the fish pond water conditions. IoT technology can be applied to support a fish pond aquaculture monitoring system, especially for catfish species (Siluriformes), in real-time and remotely. One of the technologies that can provide this convenience is the IoT. The problem of this study is how to integrate IoT devices with Firebase’s cloud data system to… More >

Artificial Intelligence in Internet of Things System for Predicting Water Quality in Aquaculture Fishponds

    Po-Yuan Yang1,*, Yu-Cheng Liao2, Fu-I Chou2

    Computer Systems Science and Engineering, Vol.46, No.3, pp. 2861-2880, 2023, DOI:10.32604/csse.2023.036810

Abstract Aquaculture has long been a critical economic sector in Taiwan. Since a key factor in aquaculture production efficiency is water quality, an effective means of monitoring the dissolved oxygen content (DOC) of aquaculture water is essential. This study developed an internet of things system for monitoring DOC by collecting essential data related to water quality. Artificial intelligence technology was used to construct a water quality prediction model for use in a complete system for managing water quality. Since aquaculture water quality depends on a continuous interaction among multiple factors, and the current state is correlated with the previous state, a… More >

Chicken Eggshell as an Innovative Bioflocculant in Harvesting Biofloc for Aquaculture Wastewater Treatment

Hajjar Hartini Wan Jusoh1, Nor Azman Kasan2,*, Hidayah Manan2, Nurfarahana Mohd Nasir1,3, Fareza Hanis Mohd Yunos1, Sofiah Hamzah1, Ahmad Jusoh1,2,*

    Journal of Renewable Materials, Vol.11, No.5, pp. 2321-2332, 2023, DOI:10.32604/jrm.2023.026086

Abstract Implementation of biofloc technology (BFT) system in aquaculture industry shows high productivity, low feed conversion ratio, and an optimum culture environment. This study was divided into two phases. The first phase involved maintaining the water quality using the optimum carbon-to-nitrogen ratio by manipulating pH in culture water. The second phase examined the performance of harvesting biofloc (remaining phytoplankton and suspended solids in the system) using chicken eggshell powder (CESP). This study showed that pH 7 to 8 were the best biofloc performance with high removal percentage of ammonia (>99%) with a remaining ammonia concentration of 0.016 mg L−1 and 0.018… More > Graphic Abstract

A Method Based on Knowledge Distillation for Fish School Stress State Recognition in Intensive Aquaculture

    Siyuan Mei1,2, Yingyi Chen1,2,*, Hanxiang Qin1,2, Huihui Yu3, Daoliang Li1,2, Boyang Sun1,2, Ling Yang1,2, Yeqi Liu1,2

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.131, No.3, pp. 1315-1335, 2022, DOI:10.32604/cmes.2022.019378

Abstract Fish behavior analysis for recognizing stress is very important for fish welfare and production management in aquaculture. Recent advances have been made in fish behavior analysis based on deep learning. However, most existing methods with top performance rely on considerable memory and computational resources, which is impractical in the real-world scenario. In order to overcome the limitations of these methods, a new method based on knowledge distillation is proposed to identify the stress states of fish schools. The knowledge distillation architecture transfers additional inter-class information via a mixed relative loss function, and it forces a lightweight network (GhostNet) to mimic… More >

Efficient Heuristic for Optimal MILP-LoRa Adaptive Resource Allocation for Aquaculture

    M. Iniyan Arasu1,*, S. Subha Rani1, G. Raswin Geoffery2

    Intelligent Automation & Soft Computing, Vol.33, No.2, pp. 729-742, 2022, DOI:10.32604/iasc.2022.021973

Abstract LoRa is well-known for its extensive communication range, inexpensive efficiency, and reduced or less power consumption in end devices. End-device energy consumption in LoRa networks is ludicrous because some end-devices use massive dissemination variables to reach the remote doorway. Furthermore, the batteries in these end devices deplete very quickly, reducing network life significantly. To address this issue, an optimal mixed-integer linear programming long-range technique (OMILP-LoRa) was used in this study. The primary goal of this research is to enable adaptive resource allocation using the unique OMILP-LoRa protocol. The ACCURATE heuristic and the OMILP model for LoRaWAN resource allocation are presented… More >
