    Journal of Renewable Materials, Vol.11, No.3, pp. 1401-1423, 2023, DOI:10.32604/jrm.2022.023446

Abstract Moso bamboos have attracted excessive attention as a renewable green building material to the concept of sustainable development. In this paper, the 20 bolted Moso bamboo connection specimens with embedded steel plates and grouting materials were designed according to connection configurations with different bolt diameters and end distance of bolt holes, and their bearing capacities and failure modes were analyzed by static tension tests. According to the test results of all connectors, the failure modes of the specimens are divided into four categories, and the effects of bolt diameter and bolt hole end distance on the connection bearing capacity and… More >

    Zhaohui Yang1,2,*, Tianhua Xiong1, Fei Du1,*, Baotong Li3

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.135, No.2, pp. 1701-1718, 2023, DOI:10.32604/cmes.2023.022758

Abstract The structure optimization design under thermo-mechanical coupling is a difficult problem in the topology optimization field. An adaptive growth algorithm has become a more effective approach for structural topology optimization. This paper proposed a topology optimization method by an adaptive growth algorithm for the stiffener layout design of box type load-bearing components under thermo-mechanical coupling. Based on the stiffness diffusion theory, both the load stiffness matrix and the heat conduction stiffness matrix of the stiffener are spread at the same time to make sure the stiffener grows freely and obtain an optimal stiffener layout design. Meanwhile, the objectives of optimization… More >

    Tinnawat Hongphan1, Matthew O. T. Cole1,*, Chakkapong Chamroon1, Ziv Brand2

    Energy Engineering, Vol.120, No.1, pp. 147-161, 2023, DOI:10.32604/ee.2022.022821

Abstract This paper presents a theoretical and experimental study on controller design for the AMBs in a small-scale flywheel energy storage system, where the main goals are to achieve low energy consumption and improved rotordynamic stability. A H-infinity optimal control synthesis procedure is defined for the permanent-magnet-biased AMB-rotor system with 4 degrees of freedom. Through the choice of design weighting functions, notch filter characteristics are incorporated within the controller to reduce AMB current components caused by rotor vibration at the synchronous frequency and higher harmonics. Experimental tests are used to validate the controller design methodology and provide comparative results on performance… More >

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.133, No.1, pp. 133-151, 2022, DOI: 10.32604/cmes.2022.020350

Abstract This work is focused on developing an effective method for bearing remaining useful life predictions. The method is useful in accurately predicting the remaining useful life of bearings so that machine damage, production outage, and human accidents caused by unexpected bearing failure can be prevented. This study uses the bearing dataset provided by FEMTO-ST Institute, Besançon, France. This study starts with the exploration of neural networks, based on which the biaxial vibration signals are modeled and analyzed. This paper introduces pre-processing of bearing vibration signals, neural network model training and adjustment of training data. The model is trained by optimizing… More >

    Letao Gao1,*, Xiaoming Wang2, Tao Wang3, Mengyu Chang4

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.72, No.3, pp. 4741-4754, 2022, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2022.027204

Abstract In the research field of bearing fault diagnosis, classical deep learning models have the problems of too many parameters and high computing cost. In addition, the classical deep learning models are not effective in the scenario of small data. In recent years, deep forest is proposed, which has less hyper parameters and adaptive depth of deep model. In addition, weighted deep forest (WDF) is proposed to further improve deep forest by assigning weights for decisions trees based on the accuracy of each decision tree. In this paper, weighted deep forest model-based bearing fault diagnosis method (WDBM) is proposed. The WDBM… More >

    Sound & Vibration, Vol.56, No.2, pp. 165-191, 2022, DOI:10.32604/sv.2022.015267

Abstract Usage of rolling contact bearings in variety of rotor-dynamic applications has put forth a need to develop a detailed and easy to implement techniques for the assessment of damage related features in these bearings so that before mechanical failure, maintenance actions can be planned well in advance. In accordance to this, a method based on dimensional amplitude response analysis and scaling laws is presented in this paper for the diagnosis of defects in different components of rolling contact bearings in a dimensionally scaled rotor-bearing system. Rotor, bearing, operating and defect parameters involved are detailed for dimensional analysis using frequency domain… More >

    Junjian Fu1,2, Pengfei Sun1, Yixian Du1,2,*, Lei Tian1, Qihua Tian1, Xiangman Zhou1

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.131, No.2, pp. 695-713, 2022, DOI:10.32604/cmes.2022.017842

Abstract Cellular structures are regarded as excellent candidates for lightweight-design, load-bearing, and energy-absorbing applications. In this paper, a novel S-based TPMS hollow isotropic cellular structure is proposed with both superior load-bearing and energy-absorbing performances. The hollow cellular structure is designed with Boolean operation based on the Fischer-Koch (S) implicit triply periodic minimal surfaces (TPMS) with different level parameters. The anisotropy and effective elasticity properties of cellular structures are evaluated with the numerical homogenization method. The finite element method is further conducted to analyze the static mechanical performance of hollow cellular structure considering the size effect. The compression experiments are finally carried… More >

    Xiaolei Li*

    Energy Engineering, Vol.119, No.2, pp. 665-680, 2022, DOI:10.32604/ee.2022.019292

Abstract Aiming at the difficulty of rolling bearing fault diagnosis of wind turbine under noise environment, a new bearing fault identification method based on the Improved Anti-noise Residual Shrinkage Network (IADRSN) is proposed. Firstly, the vibration signals of wind turbine rolling bearings were preprocessed to obtain data samples divided into training and test sets. Then, a bearing fault diagnosis model based on the improved anti-noise residual shrinkage network was established. To improve the ability of fault feature extraction of the model, the convolution layer in the deep residual shrinkage network was replaced with a Dense-Net layer. To further improve the anti-noise… More >

    Yanmin Li1,2, Guifeng Zhao2,3, Yuhong Ma1,2,*, Rong Liu1,2

    Journal of Renewable Materials, Vol.10, No.6, pp. 1641-1658, 2022, DOI:10.32604/jrm.2022.018277

Abstract An artificially accelerated alternation of aging and seawater erosion test of rubber materials used in lead rubber bearing (LRB) was performed, mainly to study the time-varying laws of rubber materials mechanical properties. Time-varying laws of the Mooney–Rivlin and Neo-Hookean constitutive parameters of rubber materials under the alternation of aging and seawater erosion were also analyzed. Results indicate that the rubber material mechanical properties were significantly affected by alternation of aging and seawater erosion. Hardness and elongation stress increased exponentially with test time. And 120 days after the test, the hardness increased by 14%, the maximum percentage increase in stress of… More >
