    Pradeep Gurrala1, Saravanan Balusamy1, Sayak Banerjee1, Kirti Chandra Sahu2,*

    FDMP-Fluid Dynamics & Materials Processing, Vol.17, No.2, pp. 253-284, 2021, DOI:10.32604/fdmp.2021.014126 - 02 April 2021

Abstract The wetting and evaporation dynamics of sessile droplets have gained considerable attention over the last few years due to their relevance to many practical applications, ranging from a variety of industrial problems to several biological systems. Droplets made of binary mixtures typically undergo complex dynamics due to the differential volatility of the considered components and the ensuing presence of thermocapillary effects. For these reasons, many research groups have focused on the evaporation of binary droplets using a variegated set of experimental, numerical, and purely theoretical approaches. Apart from reviewing the state-of-the-art about the existing experimental, More >

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.68, No.1, pp. 1183-1202, 2021, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2021.015514 - 22 March 2021

Abstract Determining the optimum location of facilities is critical in many fields, particularly in healthcare. This study proposes the application of a suitable location model for field hospitals during the novel coronavirus 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic. The used model is the most appropriate among the three most common location models utilized to solve healthcare problems (the set covering model, the maximal covering model, and the P-median model). The proposed nonlinear binary constrained model is a slight modification of the maximal covering model with a set of nonlinear constraints. The model is used to determine the optimum location More >

Abstract Expression detection plays a vital role to determine the patient’s condition in healthcare systems. It helps the monitoring teams to respond swiftly in case of emergency. Due to the lack of suitable methods, results are often compromised in an unconstrained environment because of pose, scale, occlusion and illumination variations in the image of the face of the patient. A novel patch-based multiple local binary patterns (LBP) feature extraction technique is proposed for analyzing human behavior using facial expression recognition. It consists of three-patch [TPLBP] and four-patch LBPs [FPLBP] based feature engineering respectively. Image representation is… More >

Abstract Speech intelligibility enhancement in noisy environments is still one of the major challenges for hearing impaired in everyday life. Recently, Machine-learning based approaches to speech enhancement have shown great promise for improving speech intelligibility. Two key issues of these approaches are acoustic features extracted from noisy signals and classifiers used for supervised learning. In this paper, features are focused. Multi-resolution power-normalized cepstral coefficients (MRPNCC) are proposed as a new feature to enhance the speech intelligibility for hearing impaired. The new feature is constructed by combining four cepstrum at different time–frequency (T–F) resolutions in order to… More >

Abstract Collective improvement in the acceptable or desirable accuracy level of breast cancer image-related pattern recognition using various schemes remains challenging. Despite the combination of multiple schemes to achieve superior ultrasound image pattern recognition by reducing the speckle noise, an enhanced technique is not achieved. The purpose of this study is to introduce a features-based fusion scheme based on enhancement uniform-Local Binary Pattern (LBP) and filtered noise reduction. To surmount the above limitations and achieve the aim of the study, a new descriptor that enhances the LBP features based on the new threshold has been proposed.… More >

A Physical Layer Network Coding Based Tag Anti-Collision Algorithm for RFID System

    Cuixiang Wang1, Xing Shao1,2,3,*, Yifan Meng4, Jun Gao1

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.66, No.1, pp. 931-945, 2021, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2020.012267 - 30 October 2020

Abstract In RFID (Radio Frequency IDentification) system, when multiple tags are in the operating range of one reader and send their information to the reader simultaneously, the signals of these tags are superimposed in the air, which results in a collision and leads to the degrading of tags identifying efficiency. To improve the multiple tags’ identifying efficiency due to collision, a physical layer network coding based binary search tree algorithm (PNBA) is proposed in this paper. PNBA pushes the conflicting signal information of multiple tags into a stack, which is discarded by the traditional anti-collision algorithm.… More >
