Yingyong Zou*, Yu Zhang, Long Li, Tao Liu, Xingkui Zhang

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.86, No.1, pp. 1-24, 2026, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2025.068246 - 10 November 2025

Abstract Fault diagnosis of rolling bearings is crucial for ensuring the stable operation of mechanical equipment and production safety in industrial environments. However, due to the nonlinearity and non-stationarity of collected vibration signals, single-modal methods struggle to capture fault features fully. This paper proposes a rolling bearing fault diagnosis method based on multi-modal information fusion. The method first employs the Hippopotamus Optimization Algorithm (HO) to optimize the number of modes in Variational Mode Decomposition (VMD) to achieve optimal modal decomposition performance. It combines Convolutional Neural Networks (CNN) and Gated Recurrent Units (GRU) to extract temporal features… More >

Abstract In agricultural farms in India where the staple diet for most of the households is potato, plant leaf diseases, namely Potato Early Blight (PEB) and Potato Late Blight (PLB), are quite common. The class label Plant Healthy (PH) is also used. If these diseases are not identified early, they can cause massive crop loss and thereby incur huge economic losses to the farmers in the agricultural domain and can impact the gross domestic product of the nation. This paper presents a hybrid approach for potato plant disease severity estimation and classification of diseased and healthy… More >

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.82, No.3, pp. 4863-4880, 2025, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2025.059295 - 06 March 2025

Abstract To address the issues of slow diagnostic speed, low accuracy, and poor generalization performance in traditional rolling bearing fault diagnosis methods, we propose a rolling bearing fault diagnosis method based on Markov Transition Field (MTF) image encoding combined with a lightweight convolutional neural network that integrates a Convolutional Block Attention Module (CBAM-LCNN). Specifically, we first use the Markov Transition Field to convert the original one-dimensional vibration signals of rolling bearings into two-dimensional images. Then, we construct a lightweight convolutional neural network incorporating the convolutional attention module (CBAM-LCNN). Finally, the two-dimensional images obtained from MTF mapping… More >

Wenshun Sheng*, Xiongfeng Yu, Jiayan Lin, Xin Chen

    Computer Systems Science and Engineering, Vol.47, No.2, pp. 1549-1569, 2023, DOI:10.32604/csse.2023.039410 - 28 July 2023

Abstract Small targets and occluded targets will inevitably appear in the image during the shooting process due to the influence of angle, distance, complex scene, illumination intensity, and other factors. These targets have few effective pixels, few features, and no apparent features, which makes extracting their efficient features difficult and easily leads to false detection, missed detection, and repeated detection, affecting the performance of target detection models. An improved faster region convolutional neural network (RCNN) algorithm (CF-RCNN) integrating convolutional block attention module (CBAM) and feature pyramid networks (FPN) is proposed to improve the detection and recognition… More >
