    Abstract

Plant diseases have become a major threat in farming and provision of food. Various plant diseases have affected the natural growth of the plants and the infected plants are the leading factors for loss of crop production. The manual detection and identification of the plant diseases require a careful and observative examination through expertise. To overcome manual testing procedures an automated identification and detection can be implied which provides faster, scalable and precisive solutions. In this research, the contributions of our work are threefold. Firstly, a bi-linear convolution neural network (Bi-CNNs) for plant leaf disease identification and classification is proposed.… More >

    Anas Basalamah1, Shadikur Rahman2,*

    Computer Systems Science and Engineering, Vol.40, No.1, pp. 375-388, 2022, DOI:10.32604/csse.2022.016949

Abstract This paper demonstrates empirical research on using convolutional neural networks (CNN) of deep learning techniques to classify X-rays of COVID-19 patients versus normal patients by feature extraction. Feature extraction is one of the most significant phases for classifying medical X-rays radiography that requires inclusive domain knowledge. In this study, CNN architectures such as VGG-16, VGG-19, RestNet50, RestNet18 are compared, and an optimized model for feature extraction in X-ray images from various domains involving several classes is proposed. An X-ray radiography classifier with TensorFlow GPU is created executing CNN architectures and our proposed optimized model for classifying COVID-19 (Negative or Positive).… More >

    Ziqing Yan1,2, Pengpeng Yang1,2, Rongrong Ni1,2,*, Yao Zhao1,2, Hairong Qi3

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.69, No.3, pp. 3205-3216, 2021, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2021.020324

Abstract As one of the most popular digital image manipulations, contrast enhancement (CE) is frequently applied to improve the visual quality of the forged images and conceal traces of forgery, therefore it can provide evidence of tampering when verifying the authenticity of digital images. Contrast enhancement forensics techniques have always drawn significant attention for image forensics community, although most approaches have obtained effective detection results, existing CE forensic methods exhibit poor performance when detecting enhanced images stored in the JPEG format. The detection of forgery on contrast adjustments in the presence of JPEG post processing is still a challenging task. In… More >

Rabia Saleem1, Jamal Hussain Shah1,*, Muhammad Sharif1, Ghulam Jillani Ansari2

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.69, No.3, pp. 3581-3601, 2021, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2021.017700

Abstract Due to the high demand for mango and being the king of all fruits, it is the need of the hour to curb its diseases to fetch high returns. Automatic leaf disease segmentation and identification are still a challenge due to variations in symptoms. Accurate segmentation of the disease is the key prerequisite for any computer-aided system to recognize the diseases, i.e., Anthracnose, apical-necrosis, etc., of a mango plant leaf. To solve this issue, we proposed a CNN based Fully-convolutional-network (FrCNnet) model for the segmentation of the diseased part of the mango leaf. The proposed FrCNnet directly learns the features… More >

    Yujie Zhou1, Jin Liu1,*, Yurong Xie1, Y. Ken Wang2

    Intelligent Automation & Soft Computing, Vol.30, No.2, pp. 715-733, 2021, DOI:10.32604/iasc.2021.020184

Abstract Text recognition is a crucial and challenging task, which aims at translating a cropped text instance image into a target string sequence. Recently, Convolutional neural networks (CNN) have been widely used in text recognition tasks as it can effectively capture semantic and structural information in text. However, most existing methods are usually based on contextual clues. If only recognize a single character, the accuracy of these approaches can be reduced. For example, it is difficult to distinguish 0 and O in the traditional CNN network because they are very similar in composition and structure. To solve this problem, we propose… More >

    K. Kalaivani*, M. Chinnadurai

    Intelligent Automation & Soft Computing, Vol.30, No.1, pp. 1-15, 2021, DOI:10.32604/iasc.2021.017515

Abstract Fog computing extends the concept of cloud computing by providing the services of computing, storage, and networking connectivity at the edge between data centers in cloud computing environments and end devices. Having the intelligence at the edge enables faster real-time decision-making and reduces the amount of data forwarded to the cloud. When enhanced by fog computing, the Internet of Things (IoT) brings low latency and improves real time and quality of service (QoS) in IoT applications of augmented reality, smart grids, smart vehicles, and healthcare. However, both cloud and fog computing environments are vulnerable to several kinds of attacks that… More >

    Intelligent Automation & Soft Computing, Vol.30, No.1, pp. 337-350, 2021, DOI:10.32604/iasc.2021.016966

Abstract As networked control systems continue to be widely used in large-scale industrial productions, industrial cyber-attacks have become an inevitable problem that can cause serious damage to critical infrastructures. In practice, industrial intrusion detection has been widely acknowledged to detect abnormal communication behaviors. However, unlike traditional IT systems, networked control systems have their own communication characteristics due to specific industrial communication protocols. Thus, simple cyber-attack modeling is inadequate and impractical for high-efficiency intrusion detection because the characteristics of network control systems are less considered. Based on the status information and transmission connection in industrial communication data payloads, which can properly express… More >
