    A Study on the Pyrolytic Characteristics of Xanthoceras Sorbifolia Husk and Its Crude Cellulose Extract

    Abstract Huge amounts of Xanthoceras sorbifolia husks (XSH) are typically discarded after oil extraction. Since pyrolysis represents a promising solution to harness the bio-energy of XSH, in the present work the pyrolytic and kinetic characteristics of XSH and related crude cellulose extract (CCE) were studied considering different rates of heating (10, 30 and 50°C min−1). The pyrolysis activation energy, pre-exponential factors and mechanism function were computed using different models namely Popescu, FWO (Flynn-Wall-Ozawa) and KAS (Kissinger-Akahira-Sunose).     Abstract The reinforcing impact of Lignocellulosic micro and nanofibrillated cellulose (L-MNFCs) obtained from Eucalyptus Globulus bark in Urea-Formaldehyde UF adhesive was tested. L-MNFCs were prepared by an environmentally friendly, low-cost process using a combination process involving steam explosion followed by refining and ultra-fine grinding. Obtained L-MNFCs showed a web-like morphology with some aggregates and lignin nanodroplets. They present a mixture of residual fibers and fine elements with a width varying between 5 nm to 20 μm, respectively.     Abstract Bamboo vascular bundle fiber and parenchyma (BP) are separated by high-temperature treatment with saturated steam. Bamboo vascular bundle fiber is widely used in the market, but how to develop and utilize parenchyma tissue is a difficult problem. The sulfated cellulose nanofibers (ANFs) were obtained by sulfating BP with a deep eutectic solvent (DES), which provided a theoretical basis for the value-added utilization of BP.     Abstract Polylactide (PLA)/poly (butylene adipate-co-terephthalate) (PBAT) blend nanocomposites including 3 wt% of cellulose nanocrystals (CNCs) were prepared by melt compounding method in a twin-screw extruder and an internal mixer. Blend nanocomposites were formulated by diluting three different masterbatches prepared by solution casting method that contained 7 wt% of CNC.     Abstract Understanding the assembly and spatial arrangement of bamboo cell wall components is crucial for its optimal utilization. Bamboo cell walls consist of aggregates of cellulose microfibrils and matrix. In the present study, the size and arrangement of cellulose microfibril aggregates in the cell walls of sclerenchyma fibers and parenchyma cells in moso bamboo were investigated with NMR and FE-SEM.     Abstract Environmental cleaning is an important aspect of bacteria control. Ethyl cellulose microcapsules containing potassium monopersulfate (PMCM) were prepared by emulsified solvent diffusion method. The chemical structure and microstructure of the obtained PMCM was characterized by methods of Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR), optical microscopy, scanning electron microscopy and X-ACT energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy.     Abstract In the present study, the biogenic silver nanoparticles have been synthesized using aqueous leaf extract of Plectranthus amboinicus (PA), which acted as both reducing and stabilizing agents. The PA synthesized silver nanoparticles were blended with carboxymethyl cellulose/polyvinyl alcohol (CMC/PVA) biocomposite.
