    Abdulwahab Ali Almazroi1,*, Nasir Ayub2

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.77, No.3, pp. 3921-3942, 2023, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2023.046602

Abstract Effectively managing complex logistics data is essential for development sustainability and growth, especially in optimizing distribution routes. This article addresses the limitations of current logistics path optimization methods, such as inefficiencies and high operational costs. To overcome these drawbacks, we introduce the Hybrid Firefly-Spotted Hyena Optimization (HFSHO) algorithm, a novel approach that combines the rapid exploration and global search abilities of the Firefly Algorithm (FO) with the localized search and region-exploitation skills of the Spotted Hyena Optimization Algorithm (SHO). HFSHO aims to improve logistics path optimization and reduce operational costs. The algorithm’s effectiveness is systematically assessed through rigorous comparative analyses… More >

A Fully Adaptive Active Queue Management Method for Congestion Prevention at the Router Buffer

    Ali Alshahrani1, Ahmad Adel Abu-Shareha2,*, Qusai Y. Shambour2, Basil Al-Kasasbeh1

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.77, No.2, pp. 1679-1698, 2023, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2023.043545

Abstract Active queue management (AQM) methods manage the queued packets at the router buffer, prevent buffer congestion, and stabilize the network performance. The bursty nature of the traffic passing by the network routers and the slake behavior of the existing AQM methods leads to unnecessary packet dropping. This paper proposes a fully adaptive active queue management (AAQM) method to maintain stable network performance, avoid congestion and packet loss, and eliminate unnecessary packet dropping. The proposed AAQM method is based on load and queue length indicators and uses an adaptive mechanism to adjust the dropping probability based on the buffer status. The… More >

    Khaled Belhassine1,3, Jacques Renaud1,2,3, Leandro Coelho1,2,3,4, Jean-Philippe Gagliardi5

    Revue Internationale de Géomatique, Vol.29, No.2, pp. 207-230, 2019, DOI:10.3166/rig.2019.00090

More >

Reliable Failure Restoration with Bayesian Congestion Aware for Software Defined Networks

    Babangida Isyaku1,2,*, Kamalrulnizam Bin Abu Bakar1, Wamda Nagmeldin3, Abdelzahir Abdelmaboud4, Faisal Saeed5,6, Fuad A. Ghaleb1

    Computer Systems Science and Engineering, Vol.46, No.3, pp. 3729-3748, 2023, DOI:10.32604/csse.2023.034509

Abstract Software Defined Networks (SDN) introduced better network management by decoupling control and data plane. However, communication reliability is the desired property in computer networks. The frequency of communication link failure degrades network performance, and service disruptions are likely to occur. Emerging network applications, such as delay-sensitive applications, suffer packet loss with higher Round Trip Time (RTT). Several failure recovery schemes have been proposed to address link failure recovery issues in SDN. However, these schemes have various weaknesses, which may not always guarantee service availability. Communication paths differ in their roles; some paths are critical because of the higher frequency usage.… More >

Data Center Traffic Scheduling Strategy for Minimization Congestion and Quality of Service Guaranteeing

Chunzhi Wang, Weidong Cao*, Yalin Hu, Jinhang Liu

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.75, No.2, pp. 4377-4393, 2023, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2023.037625

Abstract According to Cisco’s Internet Report 2020 white paper, there will be 29.3 billion connected devices worldwide by 2023, up from 18.4 billion in 2018. 5G connections will generate nearly three times more traffic than 4G connections. While bringing a boom to the network, it also presents unprecedented challenges in terms of flow forwarding decisions. The path assignment mechanism used in traditional traffic scheduling methods tends to cause local network congestion caused by the concentration of elephant flows, resulting in unbalanced network load and degraded quality of service. Using the centralized control of software-defined networks, this study proposes a data center… More >

Congestion Control Using In-Network Telemetry for Lossless Datacenters

    Jin Wang1, Dongzhi Yuan1, Wangqing Luo1, Shuying Rao1, R. Simon Sherratt2, Jinbin Hu1,*

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.75, No.1, pp. 1195-1212, 2023, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2023.035932

Abstract In the Ethernet lossless Data Center Networks (DCNs) deployed with Priority-based Flow Control (PFC), the head-of-line blocking problem is still difficult to prevent due to PFC triggering under burst traffic scenarios even with the existing congestion control solutions. To address the head-of-line blocking problem of PFC, we propose a new congestion control mechanism. The key point of Congestion Control Using In-Network Telemetry for Lossless Datacenters (ICC) is to use In-Network Telemetry (INT) technology to obtain comprehensive congestion information, which is then fed back to the sender to adjust the sending rate timely and accurately. It is possible to control congestion… More >

    Ahmed Alsheikhy1,*, Yahia Said1, Tawfeeq Shawly2

    Computer Systems Science and Engineering, Vol.46, No.1, pp. 1109-1126, 2023, DOI:10.32604/csse.2023.035135

Abstract Due to excessive car usage, pollution and traffic have increased. In urban cities in Saudi Arabia, such as Riyadh and Jeddah, drivers and air quality suffer from traffic congestion. Although the government has implemented numerous solutions to resolve this issue or reduce its effect on the environment and residents, it still exists and is getting worse. This paper proposes an intelligent, adaptive, practical, and feasible deep learning method for intelligent traffic control. It uses an Internet of Things (IoT) sensor, a camera, and a Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) tool to control traffic in real time. An image segmentation algorithm analyzes… More >

Coupled CUBIC Congestion Control for MPTCP in Broadband Networks

Jae Yong Lee1, Byung Chul Kim1, Youngmi Kwon1,*, Kimoon Han2

    Computer Systems Science and Engineering, Vol.45, No.1, pp. 99-115, 2023, DOI:10.32604/csse.2023.030801

Abstract Recently, multipath transmission control protocol (MPTCP) was standardized so that data can be transmitted through multiple paths to utilize all available path bandwidths. However, when high-speed long-distance networks are included in MPTCP paths, the traffic transmission performance of MPTCP is severely deteriorated, especially in case the multiple paths’ characteristics are heavily asymmetric. In order to alleviate this problem, we propose a “Coupled CUBIC congestion control” that adopts TCP CUBIC on a large bandwidth-delay product (BDP) path in a linked increase manner for maintaining fairness with an ordinary TCP traversing the same bottleneck path. To verify the performance excellence of the… More >
