Emergency Prioritized and Congestion Handling Protocol for Medical Internet of Things

Sabeen Tahir*, Sheikh Tahir Bakhsh, Rayed AlGhamdi

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.66, No.1, pp. 733-749, 2021, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2020.013261 - 30 October 2020

Abstract Medical Internet of Things (MIoTs) is a collection of small and energyefficient wireless sensor devices that monitor the patient’s body. The healthcare networks transmit continuous data monitoring for the patients to survive them independently. There are many improvements in MIoTs, but still, there are critical issues that might affect the Quality of Service (QoS) of a network. Congestion handling is one of the critical factors that directly affect the QoS of the network. The congestion in MIoT can cause more energy consumption, delay, and important data loss. If a patient has an emergency, then the… More >

TCPW BR: A Wireless Congestion Control Scheme Base on RTT

    Liwei Tian1, 2, *, Jinfeng Li3, Longqing Zhang2, Yu Sun4, Lei Yang2

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.62, No.1, pp. 233-244, 2020, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2020.06135

Abstract The wireless network is limited by the transmission medium, and the transmission process is subject to large interference and jitter. This jitter can cause sporadic loss and is mistaken for congestion by the congestion control mechanism. The TCP Westwood protocol (referred to as TCPW) is such that it cannot distinguish between congestion loss and wireless jitter loss, which makes the congestion mechanism too sensitive and reduces bandwidth utilization. Based on this, the TCPW protocol is modified based on the estimate of the Round-Trip Time (referred to as RTT) value-called TCPW BR. The algorithm uses the More >

SWRR: The Link Scheduling Algorithm Based on Weighted Round-Robin

    Tianbo Lu1,2,*, Ru Yan1,2, Chao Li3,*, Lihua Yin3, Hao Chen1, Xieyu Zou4

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.59, No.3, pp. 965-982, 2019, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2019.05635

Abstract With the rapid development of the Internet, people pay more and more attention to the protection of privacy. The second-generation onion routing system Tor is the most commonly used among anonymous communication systems, which can be used to protect user privacy effectively. In recent years, Tor’s congestion problem has become the focus of attention, and it can affect Tor’s performance even user experience. Firstly, we investigate the causes of Tor network congestion and summarize some link scheduling algorithms proposed in recent years. Then we propose the link scheduling algorithm SWRR based on WRR (Weighted Round More >
