    Yujie Duan1, Jianguo Liang1,*, Jianglin Liu1, Haifeng Gao1, Yinhui Li2, Jinzhu Zhang1, Xinyu Wen3

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.139, No.2, pp. 1239-1261, 2024, DOI:10.32604/cmes.2023.044400

Abstract In the fiber winding process, strong disturbance, uncertainty, strong coupling, and fiber friction complicate the winding constant tension control. In order to effectively reduce the influence of these problems on the tension output, this paper proposed a tension fluctuation rejection strategy based on feedforward compensation. In addition to the bias harmonic curve of the unknown state, the tension fluctuation also contains the influence of bounded noise. A tension fluctuation observer (TFO) is designed to cancel the uncertain periodic signal, in which the frequency generator is used to estimate the critical parameter information. Then, the fluctuation signal is reconstructed by a… More >

    Lianghao Hua1,2, Jianfeng Zhang1,*, Dejie Li3, Xiaobo Xi1

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.138, No.3, pp. 2129-2157, 2024, DOI:10.32604/cmes.2023.030535

Abstract With the increasing prevalence of high-order systems in engineering applications, these systems often exhibit significant disturbances and can be challenging to model accurately. As a result, the active disturbance rejection controller (ADRC) has been widely applied in various fields. However, in controlling plant protection unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), which are typically large and subject to significant disturbances, load disturbances and the possibility of multiple actuator faults during pesticide spraying pose significant challenges. To address these issues, this paper proposes a novel fault-tolerant control method that combines a radial basis function neural network (RBFNN) with a second-order ADRC and leverages a… More > Graphic Abstract

Programmable Logic Controller Block Monitoring System for Memory Attack Defense in Industrial Control Systems

    Mingyu Lee1, Jiho Shin2, Jung Taek Seo3,*

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.77, No.2, pp. 2427-2442, 2023, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2023.041774

Abstract Cyberattacks targeting industrial control systems (ICS) are becoming more sophisticated and advanced than in the past. A programmable logic controller (PLC), a core component of ICS, controls and monitors sensors and actuators in the field. However, PLC has memory attack threats such as program injection and manipulation, which has long been a major target for attackers, and it is important to detect these attacks for ICS security. To detect PLC memory attacks, a security system is required to acquire and monitor PLC memory directly. In addition, the performance impact of the security system on the PLC makes it difficult to… More >

Data Analysis of Network Parameters for Secure Implementations of SDN-Based Firewall

    Rizwan Iqbal1,*, Rashid Hussain2, Sheeraz Arif3, Nadia Mustaqim Ansari4, Tayyab Ahmed Shaikh2

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.77, No.2, pp. 1575-1598, 2023, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2023.042432

Abstract Software-Defined Networking (SDN) is a new network technology that uses programming to complement the data plane with a control plane. To enable safe connection, however, numerous security challenges must be addressed. Flooding attacks have been one of the most prominent risks on the internet for decades, and they are now becoming challenging difficulties in SDN networks. To solve these challenges, we proposed a unique firewall application built on multiple levels of packet filtering to provide a flooding attack prevention system and a layer-based packet detection system. This study offers a systematic strategy for wrapping up the examination of SDN operations.… More >

A Comprehensive Analysis of Datasets for Automotive Intrusion Detection Systems

    Seyoung Lee1, Wonsuk Choi1, Insup Kim2, Ganggyu Lee2, Dong Hoon Lee1,*

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.76, No.3, pp. 3413-3442, 2023, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2023.039583

Abstract Recently, automotive intrusion detection systems (IDSs) have emerged as promising defense approaches to counter attacks on in-vehicle networks (IVNs). However, the effectiveness of IDSs relies heavily on the quality of the datasets used for training and evaluation. Despite the availability of several datasets for automotive IDSs, there has been a lack of comprehensive analysis focusing on assessing these datasets. This paper aims to address the need for dataset assessment in the context of automotive IDSs. It proposes qualitative and quantitative metrics that are independent of specific automotive IDSs, to evaluate the quality of datasets. These metrics take into consideration various… More >

    He Wang1, Xiangsheng Xu1, Guanye Shen2, Bian Jing1,*

    Energy Engineering, Vol.120, No.10, pp. 2251-2272, 2023, DOI:10.32604/ee.2023.028965

Abstract There are issues with flexible DC transmission system such as a lack of control freedom over power flow. In order to tackle these issues, a DC power flow controller (DCPFC) is incorporated into a multi-terminal, flexible DC power grid. In recent years, a multi-port DC power flow controller based on a modular multi-level converter has become a focal point of research due to its simple structure and robust scalability. This work proposes a model predictive control (MPC) strategy for multi-port interline DC power flow controllers in order to improve their steady-state dynamic performance. Initially, the mathematical model of a multi-terminal… More >

Seungmin Lee, Hyunghoon Kim, Haehyun Cho, Hyo Jin Jo*

    Intelligent Automation & Soft Computing, Vol.37, No.3, pp. 2941-2954, 2023, DOI:10.32604/iasc.2023.039992

Abstract Modern vehicles are equipped with multiple Electronic Control Units (ECUs) that support various convenient driving functions, such as the Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS). To enable communication between these ECUs, the Controller Area Network (CAN) protocol is widely used. However, since CAN lacks any security technologies, it is vulnerable to cyber attacks. To address this, researchers have conducted studies on machine learning-based intrusion detection systems (IDSs) for CAN. However, most existing IDSs still have non-negligible detection errors. In this paper, we propose a new filtering-based intrusion detection system (FIDS) to minimize the detection errors of machine learning-based IDSs. FIDS uses… More >
