Effects of Alignment and Dislocation on the Impact Mechanical Response of Tandem Nomex Honeycomb

    Y. F. Yin1, X. J. Zhang1,*, Y. X. Lin1

The International Conference on Computational & Experimental Engineering and Sciences, Vol.28, No.1, pp. 1-4, 2023, DOI:10.32604/icces.2023.010481

    Abstract 1 Introduction
Nomex honeycomb is widely used in aerospace field due to its formability and impact resistance. Tandem honeycomb structure is favored for its excellent energy absorption and controllable deformation sequence [1]. Because impact damage is inevitable in the use of sandwich structures, it is necessary to analyze the impact mechanical response of such structures. The research objects include single honeycomb and two layers align honeycomb. First, the drop weight impact test was carried out to compare the mechanical response of double-layer aligned and staggered honeycomb with that of single honeycomb. Then finite element method was used to simulate the… More >

Effects of Unequal Individual Spacing on the Aerodynamic Performance of Three Flapping Wings in Tandem

    Xueguang Meng1, Zengshuang Chen1, Yuxin Xie1, Gang Chen1,*

The International Conference on Computational & Experimental Engineering and Sciences, Vol.27, No.4, pp. 1-5, 2023, DOI:10.32604/icces.2023.09892

Abstract Many species generally choose highly organized movements to gain more performance advantages rather than alone in the animal world, such as V-formation and line formation in birds. Understanding the aerodynamic characteristics and flow variation of multi-flapping wings in formation flight could be applied to the formation design of new bionic flapping-wing aircraft. In this paper, the effects of unequal individual spacing on the aerodynamic performance and flow mechanism of three-dimensional three-flapping wings flying in tandem formation are investigated numerically at a low Reynolds number. The simulations include small and large spacings, as well as cases with equal and unequal spacings… More >

    Psycho-Oncologie, Vol.17, No.4, pp. 215-224, 2023, DOI:10.32604/po.2023.043338

More >

RB-DEM Modeling and Simulation of Non-Persisting Rough Open Joints Based on the IFS-Enhanced Method

    Hangtian Song1,2, Xudong Chen1,2, Chun Zhu3, Qian Yin4, Wei Wang1,2, Qingxiang Meng1,2,*

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.139, No.1, pp. 337-359, 2024, DOI:10.32604/cmes.2023.031496

Abstract When the geological environment of rock masses is disturbed, numerous non-persisting open joints can appear within it. It is crucial to investigate the effect of open joints on the mechanical properties of rock mass. However, it has been challenging to generate realistic open joints in traditional experimental tests and numerical simulations. This paper presents a novel solution to solve the problem. By utilizing the stochastic distribution of joints and an enhanced-fractal interpolation system (IFS) method, rough curves with any orientation can be generated. The Douglas-Peucker algorithm is then applied to simplify these curves by removing unnecessary points while preserving their… More > Graphic Abstract

    Faidance Mashauri1,2,*, Mokili Mbuluyo1,3, Nsalambi Nkongolo2,4

More >

Abstract Automatic speech recognition (ASR) systems have emerged as indispensable tools across a wide spectrum of applications, ranging from transcription services to voice-activated assistants. To enhance the performance of these systems, it is important to deploy efficient models capable of adapting to diverse deployment conditions. In recent years, on-demand pruning methods have obtained significant attention within the ASR domain due to their adaptability in various deployment scenarios. However, these methods often confront substantial trade-offs, particularly in terms of unstable accuracy when reducing the model size. To address challenges, this study introduces two crucial empirical findings. Firstly, it proposes the incorporation of… More >

More >

An Improved CREAM Model Based on DS Evidence Theory and DEMATEL

    Zhihui Xu1, Shuwen Shang2, Yuntong Pu3, Xiaoyan Su2,*, Hong Qian2, Xiaolei Pan2

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.138, No.3, pp. 2597-2617, 2024, DOI:10.32604/cmes.2023.031247

Abstract Cognitive Reliability and Error Analysis Method (CREAM) is widely used in human reliability analysis (HRA). It defines nine common performance conditions (CPCs), which represent the factors that may affect human reliability and are used to modify the cognitive failure probability (CFP). However, the levels of CPCs are usually determined by domain experts, which may be subjective and uncertain. What’s more, the classic CREAM assumes that the CPCs are independent, which is unrealistic. Ignoring the dependence among CPCs will result in repeated calculations of the influence of the CPCs on CFP and lead to unreasonable reliability evaluation. To address the issue… More > Graphic Abstract
