A Detailed Study on IoT Platform for ECG Monitoring Using Transfer Learning

    Md Saidul Islam*

    Journal on Internet of Things, Vol.4, No.3, pp. 127-140, 2022, DOI:10.32604/jiot.2022.037489

Abstract Internet of Things (IoT) technologies used in health have the potential to address systemic difficulties by offering tools for cost reduction while improving diagnostic and treatment efficiency. Numerous works on this subject focus on clarifying the constructs and interfaces between various components of an IoT platform, such as knowledge generation via smart sensors collecting biosignals from the human body and processing them via data mining and, in recent times, deep neural networks offered to host on cloud computing architecture. These approaches are intended to assist healthcare professionals in their daily activities. In this comparative research, we discuss the construction of… More >

TinyML-Based Classification in an ECG Monitoring Embedded System

    Eunchan Kim1, Jaehyuk Kim2, Juyoung Park3, Haneul Ko4, Yeunwoong Kyung5,*

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.75, No.1, pp. 1751-1764, 2023, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2023.031663

Abstract Recently, the development of the Internet of Things (IoT) has enabled continuous and personal electrocardiogram (ECG) monitoring. In the ECG monitoring system, classification plays an important role because it can select useful data (i.e., reduce the size of the dataset) and identify abnormal data that can be used to detect the clinical diagnosis and guide further treatment. Since the classification requires computing capability, the ECG data are usually delivered to the gateway or the server where the classification is performed based on its computing resource. However, real-time ECG data transmission continuously consumes battery and network resources, which are expensive and… More >

A Wireless ECG Monitoring and Analysis System Using the IoT Cloud

    Anas Bushnag*

    Intelligent Automation & Soft Computing, Vol.33, No.1, pp. 51-70, 2022, DOI:10.32604/iasc.2022.024005

Abstract A portable electrocardiogram (ECG) monitoring system is essential for elderly and remote patients who are not able to visit the hospital regularly. The system connects a patient to his/her doctor through an Internet of Things (IoT) cloud server that provides all the information needed to diagnose heart diseases. Patients use an ECG monitoring device to collect and upload information regarding their current medical situation via the Message Queue Telemetry Transport (MQTT) protocol to the server. The IoT cloud server performs further analysis that can be useful for both the doctor and the patient. Moreover, the proposed system has an alert… More >

    Intelligent Automation & Soft Computing, Vol.32, No.1, pp. 455-466, 2022, DOI:10.32604/iasc.2022.020574

Abstract Early fetal cardiac diseases and heart abnormalities can be detected and appropriately treated by monitoring fetal health during pregnancy. Advancements in computer sciences and the technology of sensors show that is possible to monitor fetal electrocardiogram (fECG). Both signal processing and experimental aspects are needed to be investigated to monitor fECG. In this study, we aim to design and realize a non invasive fECG monitoring system. In the first part of this work, a remote study process of the electrical activity of the heart is achieved. In fact, our proposed design considers transmitting the detected signals in real time using… More >

Evaluation of Pencil Lead Based Electrodes for Electrocardiogram Monitoring in Hot Spring

    Ratha Yeu1, Namhui Ra2, Seong-A Lee3, Yunyoung Nam4,*

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.66, No.2, pp. 1411-1425, 2021, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2020.013761

Abstract Electrocardiogram (ECG) electrodes are conductive pads applied to the skin to measure cardiac activity. Ag/AgCl electrodes are the commercial product which widely used to obtain ECGs. When monitoring the ECG in a hot spring, Ag/AgCl electrodes must be waterproofed; however, this is time-consuming, and the adhesive may tear the skin on removal. For solving the problem, we developed the carbon pencil lead (CPL) electrodes for use in hot springs. Both CPL and Ag/AgCl electrodes were connected to ECG100C’s cables. The Performance was evaluated in three conditions as following: hot spring water with and without bubble, and in cold water. In… More >
