    Yunlei Zhang1, Ruifeng Cao1, Danhuang Dong2, Sha Peng3,*, Ruoyun Du3, Xiaomin Xu3

    Energy Engineering, Vol.119, No.5, pp. 1829-1841, 2022, DOI:10.32604/ee.2022.020118

Abstract In the electricity market, fluctuations in real-time prices are unstable, and changes in short-term load are determined by many factors. By studying the timing of charging and discharging, as well as the economic benefits of energy storage in the process of participating in the power market, this paper takes energy storage scheduling as merely one factor affecting short-term power load, which affects short-term load time series along with time-of-use price, holidays, and temperature. A deep learning network is used to predict the short-term load, a convolutional neural network (CNN) is used to extract the features, and a long short-term memory… More >

    Wenqian Zhang1, Jingwen Chen1,*, Saleem Riaz3, Naiwen Zheng1, Li Li2

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.132, No.2, pp. 585-604, 2022, DOI:10.32604/cmes.2022.020523

Abstract Distributed collaborative control strategies for microgrids often use periodic time to trigger communication, which is likely to enhance the burden of communication and increase the frequency of controller updates, leading to greater waste of communication resources. In response to this problem, a distributed cooperative control strategy triggered by an adaptive event is proposed. By introducing an adaptive event triggering mechanism in the distributed controller, the triggering parameters are dynamically adjusted so that the distributed controller can communicate only at a certain time, the communication pressure is reduced, and the DC bus voltage deviation is effectively reduced, at the same time,… More >

Pankaj Jood*, Sanjeev Kumar Aggarwal, Vikram Chopra

    Intelligent Automation & Soft Computing, Vol.34, No.2, pp. 785-804, 2022, DOI:10.32604/iasc.2022.025217

Abstract Energy storage technologies are utilized for improving the primary frequency control in complex electrical systems. In this paper, the modeling and simulation of a two-area power system is done to evaluate and compare the impact of three different energy storage applications on load frequency control performance. Capacitive energy storage (CES), battery energy storage (BES), and superconducting magnetic energy storage (SMES) are considered for the study. On the basis of peak overshoot and settling time, the performance of these energy storage devices is compared. The power system consists of thermal, wind, and solar resources. All nonlinearities are incorporated in the system… More >

    Omar H. Abdalla1,*, Gamal Abdel-Salam2, Azza A. A. Mostafa3

    Energy Engineering, Vol.119, No.2, pp. 569-589, 2022, DOI:10.32604/ee.2022.018693

Abstract Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) is one of the potential solutions to increase energy system flexibility, as BESS is well suited to solve many challenges in transmission and distribution networks. Examples of distribution network’s challenges, which affect network performance, are: (i) Load disconnection or technical constraints violation, which may happen during reconfiguration after fault, (ii) Unpredictable power generation change due to Photovoltaic (PV) penetration, (iii) Undesirable PV reverse power, and (iv) Low Load Factor (LF) which may affect electricity price. In this paper, the BESS is used to support distribution networks in reconfiguration after a fault, increasing Photovoltaic (PV) penetration,… More >

    Sikander Hans1, Smarajit Ghosh1, Suman Bhullar1, Aman Kataria2, Vinod Karar2,*, Divya Agrawal2

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.71, No.3, pp. 6183-6200, 2022, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2022.020768

Abstract Today, ship development has concentrated on electrifying ships in commercial and military applications to improve efficiency, support high-power missile systems and reduce emissions. However, the electric propulsion of the shipboard system experiences torque fluctuation, thrust, and power due to the rotation of the propeller shaft and the motion of waves. In order to meet these challenges, a new solution is needed. This paper explores hybrid energy management systems using the battery and ultracapacitor to control and optimize the electric propulsion system. The battery type and ultracapacitor are ZEBRA and MAXWELL, respectively. The 3-, 4-and 5-blade propellers are considered to produce… More >

Towards Realistic Vibration Testing of Large Floor Batteries for Battery Electric Vehicles (BEV)

    Benedikt Plaumann*

    Sound & Vibration, Vol.56, No.1, pp. 1-19, 2022, DOI:10.32604/sv.2022.018634

Abstract This contribution shows an analysis of vibration measurement on large floor-mounted traction batteries of Battery Electric Vehicles (BEV). The focus lies on the requirements for a realistic replication of the mechanical environments in a testing laboratory. Especially the analysis on global bending transfer functions and local corner bending coherence indicate that neither a fully stiff fixation of the battery nor a completely independent movement on the four corners yields a realistic and conservative test scenario. The contribution will further show what implication these findings have on future vibration & shock testing equipment for large traction batteries. Additionally, it will cover… More >

The simulation of this hybrid system is adjusted for Bou-Zedjar city in north Algeria. Homer software was used for this simulation to calculate the power output and the total net present cost. The method used depends on the annual average monthly values of clearness index and radiation for which the energy contributions are determined for each component of PV/SOFC hybrid system. The economic study is more important criterion in the proposed hybrid system, and the results show that… More >

    Xin Xu*, Lian Zhang*

    Energy Engineering, Vol.118, No.6, pp. 1905-1920, 2021, DOI:10.32604/EE.2021.016738

Abstract This paper briefly summarizes the current status of typical solar thermal power plant system, including system composition, thermal energy storage medium and performance. The thermo-physical properties of the storage medium are some of the most important factors that affect overall efficiency of the system, because some renewable energy sources such as solar and wind are unpredictable. A thermal storage system is therefore necessary to store energy for continuous usage. Based on the form of storage or the mode of system connection, heat exchangers of a thermal storage system can produce different temperature ranges of heat transfer fluid to realize energy… More >
