    Jae-Hyun Ro1, Jong-Gyu Ha2, Woon-Sang Lee2, Young-Hwan You3, Hyoung-Kyu Song2,*

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.70, No.2, pp. 3625-3636, 2022, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2022.020596

Abstract This paper proposes the multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) detection scheme by using the deep neural network (DNN) based ensemble machine learning for higher error performance in wireless communication systems. For the MIMO detection based on the ensemble machine learning, all learning models for the DNN are generated in offline and the detection is performed in online by using already learned models. In the offline learning, the received signals and channel coefficients are set to input data, and the labels which correspond to transmit symbols are set to output data. In the online learning, the perfectly learned models are used for signal… More >

    Computer Systems Science and Engineering, Vol.40, No.2, pp. 645-659, 2022, DOI:10.32604/csse.2022.019449

Abstract The fourth-generation (4G) and fifth-generation (5G) wireless communication systems use the orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) modulation techniques and subcarrier allocations. The OFDM modulator and demodulator have inverse fast Fourier transform (IFFT) and fast Fourier transform (FFT) respectively. The biggest challenge in IFFT/FFT processor is the computation of imaginary and real values. CORDIC has been proved one of the best rotation algorithms for logarithmic, trigonometric, and complex calculations. The proposed work focuses on the OFDM transceiver hardware chip implementation, in which 8-point to 1024-point IFFT and FFT are used to compute the operations in transmitter and receiver respectively. The coordinate… More >

    Intelligent Automation & Soft Computing, Vol.31, No.1, pp. 311-324, 2022, DOI:10.32604/iasc.2022.019473

Abstract Orthogonal frequency division multiplexing is one of the efficient and flexible modulation techniques, and which is considered as the central part of many wired and wireless standards. Orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) and multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) achieves maximum spectral efficiency and data rates for wireless mobile communication systems. Though it offers better quality of services, high peak-to-average power ratio (PAPR) is the major issue that needs to be resolved in the MIMO-OFDM system. Earlier studies have addressed the high PAPR of OFDM system using clipping, coding, selected mapping, tone injection, peak windowing, etc. Recently, deep learning (DL) models have exhibited… More >

    Arun Kumar1,*, Sivabalan Ambigapathy2, Mehedi Masud3, Emad Sami Jaha4, Sumit Chakravarty5, Kanchan Sengar1

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.69, No.3, pp. 2967-2981, 2021, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2021.019092

Abstract The article introduces Non-Orthogonal Multiple Access (NOMA) and Filter Bank Multicarrier (FBMC), known as hybrid waveform (NOMA-FBMC), as two of the most deserving contenders for fifth-generation (5G) network. High spectrum access and clampdown of spectrum outflow are unique characteristics of hybrid NOMA-FBMC. We compare the spectral efficiency of Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM), FBMC, NOMA, and NOMA-FBMC. It is seen that the hybrid waveform outperforms the existing waveforms. Peak to Average Power Ratio (PAPR) is regarded as a significant issue in multicarrier waveforms. The combination of Selective Mapping-Partial Transmit Sequence (SLM-PTS) is an effective way to minimize large peak power… More >

Abstract Brain computer interface (BCI) systems permit individuals with motor disorders to utilize their thoughts as a mean to control external devices. BCI is a promising interdisciplinary field that gained the attention of many researchers. Yet, the development of BCI systems is facing several challenges, such as network lifetime. The Medium Access Control (MAC) Protocol is the bottle- neck of network reliability. There are many MAC protocols that can be utilized for dependable transmission in BCI applications by altering their control parameters. However, modifying these parameters is another source of concern due to the scarcity in knowledge about the effect of… More >

    Amir Haider1, MuhibUr Rahman2, Tayyaba Khan3, Muhammad Tabish Niaz1, Hyung Seok Kim1,*

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.67, No.2, pp. 1747-1758, 2021, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2021.015611

Abstract The 5G cellular network aims at providing three major services: Massive machine-type communication (mMTC), ultra-reliable low-latency communications (URLLC), and enhanced-mobile-broadband (eMBB). Among these services, the URLLC and eMBB require strict end-to-end latency of 1 ms while maintaining 99.999% reliability, and availability of extremely high data rates for the users, respectively. One of the critical challenges in meeting these requirements is to upgrade the existing optical fiber backhaul network interconnecting the base stations with a multigigabit capacity, low latency and very high reliability system. To address this issue, we have numerically analyzed 100 Gbit/s coherent optical orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (CO-OFDM)… More >

Divneet Singh Kapoor1,*, Amit Kumar Kohli2

    Intelligent Automation & Soft Computing, Vol.26, No.3, pp. 439-446, 2020, DOI:10.32604/iasc.2020.013920

Abstract This research paper represents an intelligent receiver based on the artificial-neuralnetworks (ANNs) for a 4x1 space-frequency-block-coded orthogonal-frequencydivision-multiplexing (SFBC-OFDM) system, working under slow time-varying frequency-selective fading channels. The proposed equalizer directly recovers transmitted symbols from the received signal, without the explicit requirement of the channel estimation. The ANN based equalizer is modelled by using feedforward as well as the recurrent neural-network (NN) architectures, and is trained using error backpropagation algorithms. The major focus is on efficiency and efficacy of three different strategies, namely the gradient-descent with momentum (GDM), resilient-propagation (RProp), and Levenberg-Marquardt (LM) algorithms. The recurrent neural network architecture based SFBC-OFDM… More >
