Abstract The cancer cell metastasis is a major death reason for patients with non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). Although researchers have disclosed that interleukin 17 (IL-17) can increase matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs) induction causing NSCLC cell metastasis, the underlying mechanism remains unclear. In the study, we found that IL-17 receptor A (IL-17RA), p300, p-STAT3, Ack-STAT3, and MMP19 were up-regulated both in NSCLC tissues and NSCLC cells stimulated with IL-17. p300, STAT3 and MMP19 overexpression or knockdown could raise or reduce IL-17-induced p-STAT3, Ack-STAT3 and MMP19 level as well as the cell migration and invasion. Mechanism investigation revealed… More > Graphic Abstract

    European Cytokine Network, Vol.31, No.2, pp. 59-67, 2020, DOI:10.1684/ecn.2020.0446

Abstract Atherosclerosis is initiated when lipoproteins are trapped by proteoglycans in the arterial intima. Macrophages play a vital role in this disease, especially in the formation of foam cells and the regulation of pro-inflammatory responses. They also participate in plaque stabilization through the secretion of matrix metalloproteinases. Studies have reported the role of ADAMTS proteases in osteoarthritis and atherosclerotic lesions. In the present study, we have studied the effect of interleukin-17A (IL-17A) on the expression of ADAMTS-5 in the macrophage cell line THP-1. The results show that the mRNA and protein expression levels of ADAMTS-5 were More >

    Oncologie, Vol.22, No.1, pp. 43-51, 2020, DOI:10.32604/oncologie.2020.012445

Abstract To analyze the effects of different surgical procedures for the treatment of thyroid cancer on the expression levels of serum interleukin-17 (IL-17), IL-35, soluble interleukin-2 receptor (SIL-2R), and the prognostic factors. Seventy-eight patients with differentiated thyroid cancer were selected and grouped as control group (CG) (n = 39, underwent subtotal thyroidectomy) and observation group (OG) (n = 39, underwent total thyroidectomy). The serum IL-17, IL-35, and SIL- 2R expression levels; the incidence of complications; and the differentiated thyroid carcinoma (DTC) relapse rate were compared between the two groups. The serum IL-17 and SIL-2R levels were… More >

    European Cytokine Network, Vol.30, No.1, pp. 15-22, 2019, DOI:10.1684/ecn.2019.0421

Abstract There are a limited number of studies that report the polarization of the immune system toward the production of T helper 1 (Th1), Th2, or Th17-type cytokines in patients with Behçet’s disease (BD). Here, we aimed to detect the presence of various cytokines in serum samples of Egyptian BD patients and to determine the correlation between their production levels and clinical manifestations. To that aim, serum levels of IFN-γ, IL-10, IL-6, and IL-17 measured by ELISA were determined in BD patients with active or inactive disease to evaluate their clinical relevance. The results of the… More >

Abstract Interleukin-17A (IL-17A) plays a significant role in many inflammatory diseases and cancers. The aim of this study is to investigate the effect of IL-17A on the invasiveness of colorectal cancer. In the study, we found that IL-17A could promote the migration and invasion of colorectal cancer cells. Furthermore, after being treated with IL-17A, the expression and activity of matrix metalloproteinase 2 (MMP-2) and MMP-9 were upregulated. Moreover, the nuclear/overall fractions and DNA-binding activity of p65 and p50 were dramatically elevated by IL-17A. Pretreatment with a nuclear factor-kB (NF-kB) inhibitor (PDTC) or PI3K/AKT inhibitor (LY294002) was More >
